  1. While I can agree that the kids look forward to traveling to bigger playoff venues, I agree about letting District Champs have the first round at home. That is coming from a fan's perspective. Now from the coaches perspective, I can agree that you wouldn't want to play at an opponent's home field in the playoffs. It would be nice to be able to go see a first round game around here without having to travel a couple of hours one direction or another.
  2. I am going with the majority here....Hardin, Lumberton. Wouldn't have mentioned Kountze until after last Friday's game. It is great to see these teams improve. Hopefully a tradition can get started and these schools can be more competitive year in and year out.
  3. This should be an awesome game! I have not seen Hardin but I did see EC play Buna. In my humble opinion, if I would have been Buna, I would have been throwing the ball so much more because EC's secondary did not look like they had it together. Thomas is an awesome player. I did not see any giving up or laying down by him against Buna. Didn't see the game at Kountze so I cannot comment. I did see an aggressive defensive player in Thomas, he attacked and hit hard so I am not sure why everyone is saying he doesn't like contact. Anyway, back to the game this week. Should be very competitive. I have been on this site commenting on this game for two weeks now. EC better be ready in the secondary...Hardin better be ready to contain Thomas. No ifs ands or buts about it. EC's back is against the wall. My heart says Hardin 35 EC 28 My head says the other way around EC by 7.
  4. I am torn between watching this game and the Lumberton/Nederland game. The Hornets are going to come with their air attack and I just feel the Bucs better strap it up and get ready. Good luck to both teams. Hard to believe an EC loss keeps them at home, first time in how many years??? Like someone said, an EC win and the Kountze Lions are sitting at home at 7-3. That is too bad for them if that happens. Good luck to both teams. My heart is with Hardin.
  5. Pressure in on EC this week. Like it was stated above....EC loses and they stay home with an 8-2 record. I have to say EC's secondary better wake up and be ready to play against Hardin's passing attack. This last week of district football is just plain EXCITING!!! Hope TT is healthy, so there won't be any excuses about who wins and who loses.
  6. Never thought I would be writing this, but PNG better strap it up and get ready. Dayton is going to be riding high and ready to kick some butt. I had them counted out so I guess I am one of the several hundred who is eating crow right now. My vote is for PNG and I am pulling for Lumberton to beat Nederland. That would make PNG, Dayton, and Lumberton the playoff teams. Heads up Indians, here come the Broncos!!
  7. Next weeks games are SO big. This is one of those district races everyone looks forward to. It is ALL up in the air next week. I cannot even begin to think of the possiblities for the playoffs!
  8. This score is amazing. I NEVER would have seen this coming. This really throws this district into a mess with all kinds of pressure on everyone next week. My apologies to Dayton, I had them packing it in...guess I was way wrong.
  9. Lions in over their heads....EC 35 Kountze 14
  10. Can't believe this thread is STILL going on. How long until Friday? maybe then we can talk about someone else.
  11. This is greatly appreciated but I have to say, someone has waaaay too much time on their hands. I am going with either #25 or #26. Dayton stays home. PNG wins and Nederland and Lumberton take the other two spots depending on their head to head matchup.
  12. Big Game Kirbyville Nederland 21-5A Westbrook Port Arthur 21-4A BH CRosby 22-4A PNG Vidor Lumberton Nederland 21-3A West Orange-Stark Jasper Hamshire-Fannett 22-3A Coldspring Liberty Splendora 23-2A Newton 24-2A Warren East Chambers Buna 24-1A Hull-Daisetta Sabine Pass TAPPS 1-3 Kelly TAPPS 3-4 Legacy Christian
  13. Bucs will win, just hope they aren't reading too much on this site about the next game against Hardin. Stay focused on Kountze. Bucs by 14.........
  14. I was associated with Hardin, years ago, as a coach and if formerhornet was a student/player from that era he exhibits a lot of the attitude the coaches battled with back then. There were a number of students whose attitude just plain sucked. They had a mental block about winning football games. Back then we had some awesome junior high teams but when those guys got to high school something happened and those glory junior high days gave way to varsity seasons of 1, 2, or 3 wins. I have kept my eye on the progress of Hardin athletics over the years and it is great to see them competitive in basketball and now this year in football. Let's not forget the girls programs too (state ranked in VB and BB I believe). Go Hornets....best of luck the rest of the season.
  15. my pick.....PNG #1 Hy heart says Lumberton #2 Nederland #3 but my head says otherwise Nederland #2 Lumberton #3 Dayton......wait until next year.
  16. Formerhornet....if you don't mind me asking, when did you graduate?
  17. :D :D Boy some of you guys can be a riot on here..
  18. EC by 20. Any word on the McDonald kid? His shoulder did not look good to me when I watched him leave the stadium.
  19. This sight has been great. Just think how much smack talk you missed of the years! I think it has really helped build anticipation for a lot of the games. Now you know what your neighbor is saying behind your back. ;D
  20. I want to see Hardin win this one and set up a big show down with EC in two weeks!
