  1. Wow, this situation is amazing. I would hate to be in the Moody household the past couple of days. Unless Coach Moody can prove that several of his players are still away from home and will continue to be away from home for the next day or so this game should be played at least by Sat. night. IMO, using the phrases like "we don't want to get anybody hurt" and "we want to focus on district" is just a cop out. The kids haven't been away long enough to hurt their conditioning so they need to get out there. Can't believe this coach has done this. :'(
  2. Anyone know where I can read this Barbay article mentioned here?
  3. I am hoping Hardin will continue to turn the tide against HD. HD definitely holds the edge over Hardin in the long series. Good luck Hornets!!
  4. I was one of the first to read this post yesterday and I have to say I was totally embarrassed for the person who wrote it, so I didn't respond then I get on here this morning and see so many people have responded, I just have to say..............Please, please, learn how to write correctly!! That was certainly painful to read!!
  5. Bringing up TAKS scores and brother/sister kind of things. Boy, THIS reminds me of the Hardin/HD rivalry of the 80's. Always trash talking, if I remember correctly there was even the occasional vandalism (spray painting the fields with nice little messages) back then. This site has open things up to a new level of trash talking though. A strong rivalry always lends so much more to the picture. Sometime but not always you can throw the record books out the window with a game like this but IMO with this years game I think Hardin has the edge. They have some great momentum from last year and the coach has had a whole year to implement his program. Not taking anything away from HD though, they have always been competitive. Anyone remember the game in '87 when HD won on a last second field goal? Right before the snap the kicker moved the tee up 1 yard because he didn't think he could kick the ball that far and the ball ended up skipping across the cross bar. Talk about an emotional dagger in the heart of the Hornets. It was like beating HD was just not supposed to happen. happily it has happened and it will continue this week.
  6. This is where tradition takes over. EC has that kind of tradition. They will be competitive year in and year out. Some one will step up and be the leader. Go Bucs!!
  7. To me, this is kind of a dumb question. If any of your predictions come true, how about giving me some lottery numbers! ;D
  8. Like I said, practice is one thing. It is hard to compare your team speed when you are comparing it to your own team speed. Scrimmages are where the weak points will come out. I am still excited about this district's team race. Should be a good one with lots of pressure on a couple of teams to show what they got!
  9. Now, going back a few years.... for Hardin...Daniel Marsh Sr. and all three of the Scott brothers: Anthony, former UT player, Ronald and Dana, both all conference for McNeese in their college days. I know you said TWO but the Scott boys are a package deal!
  10. Practice is one thing, hitting (or getting hit by) another team is a whole 'nother story! ;D
  11. Oh and one more thing.....if this district plays out anything like this thread, it will be a great season!!
  12. You know, I actually did leave off Kountze, by accident or maybe not, but I don't think they will win the District that is for sure. Kountze will battle for the third spot with Anahuac and Buna
  13. Wow, after reading this thread, I can't wait to see what happens on the field. Turning around a program is a tough road, we will all be watching Kountze to see if they can pull it off. NOT a lot of history there to draw on. Hardin is on the way up too, they proved that last year. IMO this will be Anahuac's year to prove something. EC is there EVERY year and will continue to be because that program has been dominant for so long. It turned around from a loser to a winner several years ago thanks to Andy Evans and it continues with Caoch V. Buna has been up and down. So, with that being said, here are my picks....1) EC, 2) Hardin, 3) Buna, with Anahuac and Deweyville battling for the 4 spot.
  14. Congratulations to the Warriors! It has been a long time coming. Thanks to the Bourquien family for sharing their blessings. I am looking forward to that first Friday night!
  15. Football and track Nathan Bedford Forrest HS, Jacksonville Fl 72-74. Been around southest Texas sports for over 25 years though, some as a high school coach and some as a parent/fan so I recognize A LOT of names/dates/places mentioned here! Great topic!
  16. Was thsi Northeast team from Beaumont or Kingwood? I noticed some names from Beaumont Legacy.
  17. Now the next big question is, "Who will lead the EC Bucs into the playoffs next year?" Anyone on the staff ready to make the move up? I have heard about one of the assistants, supposed to be a pretty sharp basketball guy. Anyone know about him or the plan out there?
  18. Well good for Hank, moving into a good program that he can only make better!
  19. Well you are gith about that Bucster. I remember Coach Lee having a hard time with the community too. Another old adage: You can please some of the people all of the time and you can please all of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time! Anyone know anything about Bullard?
  20. Like I posted on another thread, I don't know everything that goes on out there in Winnie but this has to be a big shock to all the Bucs. I have always thought very highly of Coach Hargraves, good luck to him and his family.
  21. Wow ! I don't know the ins and outs of everything out there in Winnie and I know nothing about Bullard but I have to say this is a big shock! Hank has done a great job out there. I think he is a class act and I wish him the best as he moves on. I am sure it had to have been a difficult decision.
  22. Not sure about his football skills but I saw him run the lead off leg of the weight man 4x100 relay at the Silsbee track meet his Sr year. He was pretty quick for about 30-40 meters but then he was done. The guy had the biggest head I have ever seen on a human!
  23. That was a great race by Gay. Would have liked to see Williams at least in the finals, i was very surprised when I didn't see his name come up. Those guys in the 100 m were running some fast times!!
  24. A-Hem! Williams finished 2nd in his "qualifying heat" and "5th in his semifinal heat". Unfortuantely he didn't make the finals and won't be going to the Olympics. Didn't want everyone to get too excited by "2nd Sat. in Olympics"
