I agree but the later in the season home games had some conflicts that would keep some folks from enjoying homecoming. I was told the school no longer wanted to schedule homecoming on the same week as band contest. The last several homecomings the band was unable to march in parade.

In the case of Madison/Westbury, one campus could be 9th and the other 10-12. I'm not saying building bigger schools shouldn't happen. I am saying creating a new school will have issues getting it staffed with the teacher shortage. Most of the statewide shortage is happening in the inner city schools and not the suburbs. That's where I see school districts having to consolidate some of their schools eventually because of shortage and money. -

I see this happening more so than creating new schools. Particularly in urban areas. -

Problem with creating new schools is getting them staffed with teachers. Pretty major shortage going on right now. -

I agree. Not sure why some of the posters here are acting like the season is over.

Buna has 7 boys basketball state titles. Not aware of any girls basketball state championships. -
Definitely close the first half. Newton controlled the 2nd half.

Nothing at all. Just pointing out that route helps the bigger receiver and doesn't necessarily have to be a pin point accurate throw. I recall one pass dropped that COULD have (not would have) been a TD.
-
I would give him an A for what he was asked to do. Short passes, don't take a sack, be accurate. 2nd half after Newton made some adjustments is where he looked more like a freshman. Overall a solid B.

You might want to check on the state titles that Barbers Hill has won. -

Or the fact that Neece is utilizing the talents he currently has. Anahuac has a pretty good set of receivers, very good size and athletic ability. Most of the passes were short routes that the receiver turned into big gain. Also, several of the throws were fade routes that the bigger receiver took advantage of the smaller defender. Not alot of passes that were 15+ yards down field. Newton had a handle on Anahuac's run game so Neece was going to the passing game pretty often to hopefully open up the run game. 2nd half, Newton took away the short passes therefore getting the shutout in 2nd half. Neece knows what he has and that's a talented freshman QB that in time will eventually be the man for the offense.

Definitely threw the ball more than normal.

Wonder how often a #5 ranked team is a 17 point dog?

Caneyhead proper is actually between Silsbee and Fred. From FM 1122 north on FM 92 to Tyler County line is considered Caneyhead. Also, most folks only consider Caneyhead residents to be on the east side of 92. West side is considered Drakeville. I know this area very well being I spent a lot of my time in and out of there with friends, classmates and girls. All Caneyhead residents attended Silsbee schools (if they went to school). -
I will be on both. One the first half and the other the 2nd half.
-
I see what you are saying. To answer that question, never. But I stood on the sidelines last Friday night (1st half on Anahuac side, 2nd half on Newton side) and from what I saw was Neece doing all the play calling. Now that doesn't mean the plays weren't being radioed down from OC in the booth. But Neece carries a play card in his hand and when the time to call the play arose he referenced to it many times.

Wrong. There have been many times an assistant coach or even head coach was hired and their son ended up being the starting QB. Package deal.

Ever is a long time. Pretty sure Memorial hasn't (the school hasn't been around very long) LC-M may have many years ago but not recently.
