  1. Houston is 6-10 since All Star break and 2-8 in last 10 games. Lead over Seattle is down to 2.5 after leading by as much as 9.
  2. Astros score just 3 runs on 14 hits. Of those 14 hits, only one of them (Walker's HR) was an extra base hit. Houston had 14 LOB's today. Can't win too many games leaving that many on base.
  3. Pena not in lineup today. Altuve in leadoff spot playing 2B. Correa playing SS, Urias at 3B.
  4. Transferred to Hardin-Jefferson
  5. Houston's lineup for tonight: SS Jeremy Pena DH Jose Altuve LF Jesus Sanchez 3B Carlos Correa C Yanier Diaz 1B Christian Walker CF Taylor Trammell RF Cam Smith 2B Mauricio Dubon P Hunter Brown
  6. Astros make way for Carlos Correa, Jeremy Peña. Brice Matthews and Jacob Melton back to Triple-A
  7. They wanted Arrighetti and Houston said no.
  8. Being that MLB doesn't have a salary cap, taking on Correa's salary isn't all that big a deal. (particularly since we don't have to pay 33 mil of it). We needed an every day 3B since Paredes is done for the year. Correa should do fine there. He is hitting for average about the same as Paredes. Just will need to hit for more power. Be curious to see where he ends up in the batting order. Getting Sanchez was a bonus. Houston desperately needed a left handed hitter. He should help bolster the outfield and may allow Altuve to play 2B more and lead off as well. I would have liked Houston to have picked up a starting pitcher. They are really short handed there, particularly since they gave up Gusto to get Sanchez. Overall, I give them an A-.
  9. Astros actually gave up more (as far as players go) getting Sanchez than they did Correa. Houston just added more salary with getting Correa.
  10. Paredes is good trade bait for next year.
  11. Astros also traded starting pitcher Gusto for outfielder Sanchez.
  12. Correa coming back to Houston.
  13. [Hidden Content] Two of our coverage districts made the list. 11-2A DI 23-6A
  14. It's a compiled computer ranking over the last 6 years of all 1214 UIL football programs. PigskinPrep puts out the ranking. My guess it's based on overall wins, district championships, playoff wins, state game appearances and state titles.
  15. Jose Altuve was 4-for-4 with a three-run home run to tie his single-game career high with his Astros record 41st four-hit game. He is hitting .363 (33x91) with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 5 HR, 21 RBIs, 11 walks, 20 runs scored, 1.055 OPS in July.
  16. Not on varsity. Otherwise they would not have had Johnson play RB in a couple of games.
  17. Paredes might be done for the year. At least two more months. By that time, teams are allowed to expand their rosters. I can see him splitting time at first with Walker and getting some DH time if Alvarez isn't back or when Alvarez plays leftfield. Bottom line, Houston desperately needs a left handed batter in the lineup.
  18. Correa will play 3B if the Astros get him.
  19. Yep. Baytown Lee is the only team in that district that we normally covered in the past. We don't cover districts unless 3 or more of our "core" teams or past coverage teams are in those districts. Not just one team. Line has to be drawn somewhere. Realignment sometimes has us lose a team or two that we have normally covered or add some teams that we haven't normally covered in the past. We try to keep to districts and not individual team coverage. But that doesn't mean that somebody can't post about Baytown Lee and it's district being that Lee is a team we used to cover. By all means, have at it.
  20. Hardin returns 24 lettermen (only lost 5 from last season). 9 offensive and 10 defensive starters return.
