  1. If I have to do bear crawls and my only two choices is do them on is an asphalt track or wood chip filler turf, I am taking the turf each and every time. But I have common sense. If I am a coach and my choices are an asphalt track or a wood chip filler turf to have my athletes do bear crawls on, I am choosing the turf. But I have common sense. FYI, Woodville ISD and any other schools that have the wood chip filler turf fields have to put water on these fields regularly to keep the wood chips from getting too dry. This keeps them cooler than the rubber filler turf fields. I am 100% certain that the field at Eagle Stadium was cooler than the track that day.
  2. I 100% disagree with that last sentence.
  3. With 100% certainty? No. But I do know many teams do bear crawls on their turf fields and I have never heard of any athlete complaining about getting burns or blisters from the turf. The likelihood of someone getting burns or blisters from bear crawls on a track are much much higher than doing that on any turf field. I think most folks would understand that difference. But I see that if one person got burns or blisters from bear crawls on turf while 100's got it while on a track, you would see it as the same. The point being, if that activity had to be a choice, then it would have been much more sensible to do that activity on the field and not the track. If you cannot see that, then I can't help you.
  4. Not nearly as hot as a track will get. Also, that turf at Woodville is the wood chip filler type. It stays much cooler than the rubber pellet filler turf fields. That turf would not have caused those type injuries.
  5. According to his father, that is fake news. He enrolled at United. Now, Peyton may have been seen visiting or attending S Awards, but not attending class.
  6. RB and DB I think the QB replacement will be very good. Will bring a more run threat than in the past few years which will help not having a solid RB. Oline will be the strength. Got enough speed and talent to shore up the receiving corp. Defensive line and LB's will be very good, particularly up the middle. NG and inside backers are very good. Secondary will need some help. Will be very young. Johnson, who will be the QB, may be asked to play safety some to help out. If Silsbee can get a consistent pass rush, that will help out the secondary. Key losses from this past season: Farr (RB, LB), Miller (WR, DB), Gaines (RB, DB) and Moshier (QB). Those will be hard to replace. Moshier ended up being Silsbee's all time leader in passing yards, completions, passing TD's and completion percentage. He also had 12 rushing TD's last year. Lot's of production last year from those four that will have to be accounted for. One things for certain, Tigers have one of the best coaching staffs in the district.
  7. I got it going this way: 1. WO-S 2. Silsbee 3. HF 4. Jasper 5. Shepherd 6. Tarkington A couple of DCTF guys has Silsbee winning district and being a regional favorite.
  8. 2-1 win over Seattle. Hader now 13 for 13 in saves. Framber with another quality start and the win.
  9. I guess folks don't remember that Hickman was on staff at WO-S for 6 years when he was promoted (not hired) as the AD/HC.
  10. I get it. Wins and losses is all that matters. But I post the stats to show that if a team continues to be top 5 in hitting and top 5 in pitching in their league (also the only team in their division that can say that) then over a 162 game season, that kind of play will end up winning the West Division. Houston also has the best run differential in their division. Right now, the Astros just can't string wins together for whatever reason. I just think in time, this current play will pay off and get enough wins to win the division. Now if Houston was playing in the other two divisions, they definitely would need to up their game some to make playoffs.
  11. I'm not saying you are. But you have to understand from my point that when the government starts talking about making cuts to programs that benefit folks like my son, I get a little worried. The government has thrown the baby out with the bath water on some occasions. That's all I am saying.
  12. I just thought your post was too broad. That's all. Sorry for misunderstanding.
  13. Silsbee folks need to remember, both Joe Sigler and Travis Williams had never been head coaches when they were first hired to be head coaches at Silsbee. Both were assistants at the time. Sigler at Silsbee, Williams at Kountze.
  14. I think the question is why was doing bear crawls on a hot track one of the options? Need to have a little more sense. If this was being done at the football stadium, then why weren't the bear crawls done on the field instead of the track?
  15. It's just that your comment that I quoted was painting with a broad brush. That's all I am saying.
  16. My 30 year old autistic son is on Medicaid due to his disability. Are you suggesting he get a job to support himself? I understand there is some abuse going on with these benefits but there are some people that need these benefits desperately.
  17. May have been part of the deal. I know if I am Brown I would want them to stay.
  18. Brown was due for a stinker game.
  19. For sure still playing in YMBL and James Gamble. Not sure what 3rd tourney they will play.
  20. Not necessarily. But I do know he was scaling back a bit.
  21. The hire has the approval of both Ira and Jacob Brooks. They both have stated they will be staying on as assistants.
  22. Bingo. The applicant list wasn't the greatest but good. Money was an issue but also following Joe and taking over such a tradition rich program is a tough task.
