1. Sorry mactiger, just having some fun. ;D
 2.
Do not listen to "Aggie" volleygirl. ;D ;D His brain cavity is foggy. ;D ;D
C'mon Bleed, you know that I am the volleyball guru around these parts. ;) ;D (besides, I didn't know it took brains to know volleyball) ;D That'll get'em posting ;D
 3. This thread will remained locked until we find out if there is something going on. We have made some contacts and so far nothing has transpired.
 4.
How many returning players does Silsbee have they were dominant last year but how many did they lose?
Enough to dominate!!!! ;D
 5.
Do all weeks count, or do you drop your worst one?
All weeks count. The reason you see some of the posters with less games is either they started later in the year in the contest or they missed a week or two. That's why there is a winning percentage. You will make a pick in every game listed for that week. You don't get the choice of games for that week. An incomplete pick results in a loss, I think. That's why everyone should check their picks after they have posted them just to make sure all the games were picked. It's easy sometimes to overlook a game or two.
 6. Just wanted to give kudos to Travis, James and Ira for putting on another great tourney. 23 teams, over 50 games in three days, with all the top area teams represented. Great job!! Looking forward to this coming season.
 7. Already hearing things.  ;)
 8.
Remember, Vidor is also bigger than PN-G.  Vidor will also need to miss for PN-G to go D-2...
Soulja, I think you mean for PNG to go DI, not DII. PNG can go DI if the district plays out like this: PNG Central or Nederland LCM Livingston or Lumberton
 9. I was already contacted about doing the play-by for the 1A Div. I and Div. II games.
 10.
Anything going on with the LC-M head coach?  May have put his foot in his mouth!?  Is LC-M looking for a replacement?  Anyone heard anything???
Just what exactly do you mean by "foot in his mouth"?
 11.
Are we doing straight up up picks or are we doing the point spread thing?
The point spread pic'ems were only in basketball. These will be straight up picks.
 12. I see that Mr. Berry retired before it was built. Why didn't Butch do the same? ;D
 13. I personally am glad that BISD is getting new buildings for their schools. Been a long time coming. If it is because of him, then kudos to the sup. Good job. But, that doesn't mean he should get his name on a building. I guess I am old school. I always believe those kind of things should be done as a memorial. I know that buildings and stadiums get named by living folks all the time, but those folks usually have bought the naming rights or bought the building. (donations). I know I live outside BISD, I really have no say in this matter. But personally, I thought they should have named the staduim Durley/Smith Memorial Staduim, after Alex Durley and Willie Ray Smith. They could put Butch's name on the natatorium beside the staduim. From an outsider look driving by, the name on the staduim looks self gratifying. But, that's just me.
 14.

But does your mother still live in SP and pay taxes in BISD?  If not, then no gripe.  The protectors of SP had plenty of opportunities to enshrine the 3rd floor since it became a middle school in '86.  Most of the people whining about SP being demode don't live in BISD and should get a case of hush mouth.  BTW, there will be a new SP built on the same site so it's not like SP is gone.....
1) Mom just passed away, but I PAY bisd taxes. I will say whatever I want to, 85. Period. 2) Wether Mom "lived in BISD or not", she cared about SP. Duh. 3) You run your mouth constantly, but have the nerve to tell others to "hush mouth"?    >:(
Sorry to hear about your mom, but sell the house...... And since you're handling the affairs, I don't see nothing going on in Stowel so again, you have no say.... And just like you, I have an opinion that none of you Butch-haters like but will see as long as I'm not banned... So in conclusion.... Enjoy small and old Bucanneer Stadium The majority of Us in BISD will enjoy and our kids will benefit from the fruits of CBT's labour......
FYI, East Chambers got a new stadium a couple of years ago. ;) They also have the best high school gym of any school in the Southeast Texas area, regardless of classification. SFA85, how do you know ECbucfan doesn't live in Beaumont?
 15.
Don't get me wrong.  I much prefer the plan which creates a 6A over the current attempt to divide each class into two different divisions.  But this plan of 4 teams from each district further dilutes the championship.  That means in an eight team district all you have to do to make the playoffs is finish in the top half of the district....in a six team district, 2/3 of the teams will go.....and in a district like 14-1A, they are just playing the district schedule to determine the playoff seedings.
I wouldn't mind the 6A move, just keep it at 3 teams to qualify for the playoffs.
 16. I have stated numerous times, 4 teams is just too much. The only way to justify 4 teams qualifying for the playoffs would be if those 4 teams come out of at least an 8-10 team district. This 4 out of 5, 4 out of 6, or 4 out of 7 is ridiculous. I even think 4 out of 8 is bad. I wanted it to stay 2 teams, but I have no problems with 3. Going to 4 teams is just another way for the UIL to get more money, plain and simple. It has nothing to do with "the social needs". ::)
 17.
Well, if my math is right from 11-Man 1A-5A 544 teams will make the playoffs (128 in 5A, 128 in 4A, 96 in 3A, 48 in 2A (DI), 48 in 2A (DII), 48 in 1A (DI), 48 in 1A (DII) this year and next. If the 6A plan with 4 teams reaching the playoffs out of each region, 768 teams from 11 Man 1A to 5A will make the playoffs.   Is it the "little league" mentality of everyone getting a trophy?  Not hardly.  The bigger justification can be found in Page 15 of UIL Football Manual under Section 1250 (j) of the "Football" Plan which states, "Fifteen percent of the gross receipts of post-district games shall be paid to the [University Interscholastic] League...." For that, you can do the math.
EXACTLY!!!!!!
 18.

Incoming H-J junior (OL/DL) Joe Persohn verbals to Lamar. Following after his dad's (world's greatest freshman basketball coach) footsteps.
So are you being sarcastic?  I don't know anything about this recruit so maybe you could fill us in.
No sarcasm, he did indeed give Coach Woodard a verbal.
 19.
there is so much talk about the first place teams (HJ and Silsbee) who do yall think will pull out that last playoff spot???
I think it will come down to Bridge City, Hamshire-Fannett, Orangefield and WOS. ;) I give the early nod to WOS.
 20.
Looks like it might be an interresting season ahead.
Yes indeed. I was really surprised how well Silsbee played in this tourney. I figured them to be one of the top 4 teams but to win the whole thing with your starting point guard and 2 guard not playing in any of the games, was a surprise to me. I will say this, I believe Silsbee has two of the top 5 players in the area in Stallworth and Lane.
 21.

I think HJ will be in the hunt againt this upcoming season. But the gap is closing in on HJ. By 2011-2012 season, the district will see some new changes. Enjoy your last season for awhile.
Dove, at least for the next two seasons I don't see HF moving into HJ's territory.  As long as we keep our core group in tact, we should be able to battle for district championships with Silsbee with HF on the outside looking in.
HF and WOS will be opening up the door ;) Time marches fast in sports.
Let's see, Silsbee's 8th, 9th and JV teams swept both HF and WOS last year. I believe the time will be much slower than you think. ;)

 23.
Those letters arent as big as the life size statue of Kerry Cooper we have when you walk in to the Setxsports building  ;D
I noticed the other day that the statue has been decapitated. I wonder who did that?
 24. I read it cover to cover, not bad for a first time publication. There were some inaccuracies with some of the info but all in all, a good start. Still think they blew it on their polls. ;)
