  1. I agree, Lamar isn't good at all. This was the fourth time I've seen them this year, season ticket holder, and to put it plain and simple, the Cardinals are looking at a sub .500 season, no better.
  2. I read on the downlow that all 4 teams, Silsbee, Columbia, Robinson, and Palestine have agreed to play the next game at Kyle Field. I am going to try and ask a school official to see if this is true. I'll get back with the info later. If this is true and my Tigers win this Friday, well let's just say that my family will have died and gone to heaven.
  3. Congrats Lady Tigers!! Looking mighty strong so far this year. Keep it up.
  4. I believe they run out of the I formation, but not sure. I'll check on that.
  5. Looks like Jasper won't have much in basketball as well as football this year. Vidor handled them pretty easily it looked like. Silsbee defeated Vidor a couple of days earlier while only suiting up 7 players. The rest of the team is still playing football, with a couple of them being starters for the basketball team.
  6. Silsbee is mostly a running team, they gave the Mustangs all that they could handle. I always said that a strong power running game that would eat up the clock while scoring is the way to beat WOS. They seem to have problems with these type teams. With the lack of depth the Mustangs have, I think a team could wear down the defense late in a game and have a chance to win. Is Giddings that team? That remains to be seen. I said all that to say this: WOS wins by 2 touchdowns, 35-21. Go Mustangs!! Let's bring some state titles back to district 21-3A.
  7. Their running back is awesome. Flannel had 277 yards on 40 carries last night, with 229 of them coming in the second half. He is a big back with speed, lot's of Div 1 schools looking at him. Their defense is starting to come around, playing better. Early in the season they were giving up alot of points but they have been a little more stingy now. The Roughnecks lost to Bellville in week 2, 42-14, but they did not have Flannel for that game. He plays last night, different result, a 27-12 win over Bellville. Kind of obvious who their bread and butter is.
  8. If the Tigers play to their capabilities, they have a real good chance. If this team gets on a roll, look out! BTW, who beat Gilmer?
  9. Rocky has a sprained ankle. Hopefully be back next week.
  10. I have to give props to Splendora, they are tough. They have to be the best coached, most disciplined team that Silsbee has played all year. They never had any mental lapses. They stuck to what they do best and never derived from it, mighty good Wildcats. Silsbee shot themselves in the foot several times with the ill timely penalties. That had to be the most false starts that the Tigers have had all year, at least 8 to 9 of them. Silsbee did hit the big plays tonight, which is a change. Not the typical grind it out way that Silsbee normaly scores with. It was refreshing, to say the least. The Tigers did what they had to do to pull this one out, they showed a lot of grit. BTW, Silsbee's starting RB, tough nosed Rocky Calhoun, did not suit up tonight, has a bum ankle. Also, Ahmad Jones played with a hobble all night. Had to be spelled quite a bit. Congrats Tigers, good to get this first done, now let's get on a roll.
  11. Man, did I leave that game too early. I left with about 4 minutes left, West Sabine up 34-12, it was over. West Hardin had moved the ball pretty well all game but when they would reach the red zone, they would just stall out. West Sabine had too much speed for the Oilers. That must have been an exciting finish, too bad I missed it, I was getting cold anyway.
  12. Silsbee's stadium is being used Thursday night, West Sabine-West Hardin. Tiger Stadium will not be used Friday night due to the fact that Silsbee has their own playoff game in Conroe that night. It is available Saturday though. I wondered why Newton-Buna didn't use it that night instead of traveling all the way down to Bridge City to play.
  13. Lumberton lost to a one win Ozen team, nuff said. Best team my a**!
  14. Hold on guys, you are forgetting the most deserving team of all, the Lumberton Raiders. Go Raiders, win state!!! Okay, enough of my stand-up routine.
  15. Speck fishing blows bass fishing out of the water. Give me East Bay, Matagorda Bay, and Laguna Madre any day over the best bass lakes.
  16. Why travel all the way down to Bridge City. Wouldn't have Jasper been a better fit. Also, Silsbee's stadium was available for Saturday.
  17. Newton won it last year and was in the finals the year before, or vice versa, not sure. But they won it one of the last two years I know.
