A little piece from Bob West's column today: I’m still shaking my head over the Beaumont Independent School District naming its sparkling new football stadium after its somewhat controversial superintendent Carroll “Butch” Thomas. Why wouldn’t you name a new football showpiece after an inspirational athlete from Beaumont who has gone on to distinguish himself and bring pride  and recognition to his hometown? Somebody like ground-breaking football pioneer Jerry LeVias, a guy who overcame mind-boggling abuse to become the first black football player in the Southwest Conference as a star at SMU. LeVias, of course, went on to a solid NFL career and continues to be involved in community work in Houston. Or Bubba Smith, the only player from Southeast Texas even taken with the very first pick of the NFL draft. Smith, of course, went on to considerable recognition as Hightower in the Police Academy movies. Earlier Beaumont Stadiums were named after sports figures Babe Zaharias and Alex Durley. Why such a self-serving reversal in policy? Levias Stadium has a good ring to it.

Silsbee takes this one. Cleveland looks lost without their QB who was lost for the season due to an injury in a scrimmage. Losing to Caney Creek, 1-9 last season and picked last in their district this year, 24-22 also shows the Indian defense has some work to do. Would have been about a 38 yarder. Don't know how strong a leg the kicker has, only the coach knows. That's a 2 game losing streak for PNG.

I just banned the member "Ed Hochuli". I knew that PNG1992 had another account over here. I saw that he was updating his scoreboard pretty much after we would have ours updated last night. I even commented to Todd last night suspecting this. The Ed character registered yesterday. ::) Melancon has about 3 or 4 accounts on his own board. He is the site admin, PNG1992, Ed Hochuli(yes, there is one over there) and I also believe he has one more. Let's keep our eyes and ears open as I am pretty sure he will try again to access the site.
