Nederland thrown for a surprise; Kelly beats heat
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yes it seems to be the trend but it only seems to be in baseball and softball. I believe that over 80% of athletes that are in college on a scholarship were all multiple sport athletes in high school. But if you break it down by sport, I imagine that only 50-60% on scholarship in baseball are multiple sport athletes. -
any new news? Dont see him on any roster lists, depth chart etc.? Would like to follow his progress.
No current rosters have the incoming freshmen. The rosters with true freshmen will not be available until after the first week of practice which starts next week. I will be following his progress with some contacts I have made up there.

News came in today that former Silsbee Tiger great James Hunter died today from a massive heart attack. Hunter is a former all state defensive back for Silsbee who went on to gain All-American status at Grambling University. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 2nd round, playing 9 seasons for the Lions, earning All-Pro honors and leaving the Lions as their all time interception leader. James was honored just this past football season as one of the first two former Tiger greats to be selected into the Silsbee Tiger Hall of Fame. He and William Graham are the first two former players to be chosen for this honor. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. James Hunter was 56 years old. Good bye to one of our great Tigers. :'(
He'll eventually start. Isn't pat white lil bro there also?
Yes, plays reciever. Through the summer workouts, JJ is the strongest of all the QB's, doing the most reps in the bench press than any of the QB's. Jeremy is also the 4th fastest player on the whole team, only the starting RB, 1 reciever and a DB turned in the fastest 40 and 60 times. JJ is having a good summer and is looking forward to the start of the season. He will get every opportunity to win the starting QB position this season.
All I'll say is that the three teams that are above us, we've beaten last year.. Are of those wins were blowouts and the other team just lost their blue chipper Mr. Everything QB... Other than that, my lips are sealed... :-X :-X :-X :-X
Three teams?? Isn't more like 40 teams since Central did not make the rankings at all? -

Hmmmm.... Kirbyville #10, WOS #20. I don't think so. Reverse them would be better. (I also think Jasper and Silsbee should be higher) -
Lamar football facing tough SLC teams early
AggiesAreWe replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
But College Sporting News doesn't say which philosophy is better in the recruiting angle. Just states that Lamar has a lot of transfers and Texas St. doesn't. So what does that prove? Absolutely nothing. TT, you are the only one saying it's a bad decision. Only time will tell if it is or not. -
Well here is the things I know terror did not agree with. 1) We did not hire a big name coach 2) We are going to play in the SLC in 2011 3) We brought in to many transfers 4) We did not do a good enough job marketing our start up
So let me get this straight. Because TT did not agree with these decisions, that makes them bad decisions. Okay.... ::) (and people thought electing Obama as President was a good decision) ;) -

if you like to talk about speed and BIG FAST linemen and backs,wo-s will tell you to take a look at silsbee, kirbyville and jasper
No offense intended (although I am certain it will be taken), but you are kind of making my point. You think of teams like Silsbee, Kirbyville and Jasper when someone mentions that Friendswood is a big, fast team. Ask your friends from Dayton -- which has been the most accomplished SETX team over the last 5 years if not longer -- whether those types of teams are comparable to what the typical Friendswood teams brings to the field.
None taken, here. Although WO-S does match up with Friendswood speed wise (team speed has never been a problem at WO-S), there is no doubt that Friendswood will be the biggest team WO-S faces (both in number of players and size on the field). I fully accept the fact that very few outside of the cities of Orange, West Orange and Pinehurst actually expect WO-S to win this one. For anyone to think different would be foolish. Which is one of the things that makes it a dangerous one for Friendswood. WO-S really doesn't have anything to lose. If Friendswood wins! Hey! They were supposed to! If they lose, you start talking about a huge upset going which provides that much extra of a confidence boost for the Mustangs along the Sabine.
All so very true, Grad. But I bet there will still be one or two WOS fans(you know who they are) that will come up with some excuses if WOS loses this game. ;) -
AAW you said earlier that the two Seniors helped out Kountze in the second day of pool play?? LOL Zay is the only senior on the team this year:) Lynn is a Jr. :)
Maybe so, but his last year to play. Heard he was opting out of his senior year to go pro. ;)

Lamar football facing tough SLC teams early

Among Woodard's goals when he made the schedule was to play as many Southland teams as possible. Woodard scheduled games against those schools for early in the season because the league locks them into playing conference games late in the season The reason these are early season games. ;) Lamar's fifth game this season will be against a fourth Southland team, Sam Houston State, picked to finish in the lower half of the eight-team league Maybe this is a winable game for the Cards. ;) ;D -
