1. This is a top 25 ranking of all classifications combined in Region III. Silsbee the only local in at #18. Tigers also the only 3A team in the top 25, the rest all 5A and 4A teams. [Hidden Content]
 2. Not hiring a basketball coach doesn't help for starters. Kirbyville had a good coach last year, but he left after one year, is not at Willis. They did not hire a replacement but instead asked for one of the football assistants to volunteer to coach the basketball team. Was told at first nobody wanted it and it almost came to a point where someone was going to be appointed (made ;)) to coach the team. Finally, Coach Vanya stepped up and took the team. Until they change the way of thinking over there and hire a real basketball coach, that program will suffer even more.
 3.
Can't wait for round two!
I can. We got a tough one coming up with WOS on Tuesday, cannot afford to look past them. The Mustangs are playing some very good basketball of late. They will require all of Silsbee's attention come Tuesday night.
 4. @ tu, I'll have to take the horns by 7. When the game is at Reed Arena, I'll take the Aggies by 5.
 5. Just another breakdown of the game: HJ starters scored 51 points Silsbee starters scored 47 points HJ bench scored 5 points Silsbee bench scored 17 points Only 6 players scored for HJ All 11 players (Rhone did not suit out) scored for Silsbee IMO, Silsbee has the best player (Stallworth), but the starting 5 for each team is fairly equal. Silsbee's bench is their strength over HJ.
 6.
He is fine, and he has chosen another career path.
Yes, I understand that he is in the real estate business. But, ABSENT, to say he "chose" another career path is not entirely accurate. ;)

 8. Any more coach or player bashing will result in this thread being locked or taken down completely. I have edited some posts, so let's clean it up a bit.
 9.
Just curious, did they use TASO or UIL refs ??
UIL
 10.
Regardless of when they did or did not get the fouls, it is totally different playing with foul trouble!!!!
Totally agree.
 11. I was certain Persohn didn't get his 4th foul until the last quarter. I'll have to listen to the broadcast again.
 12. Actually, to be accurate, only 1 of HJ's players had 4 fouls going into the 4th. The other two picked up the 4th fouls in that last quarter. But I understand your point.

He is the head coach, btw.
Thanks for letting me know he is the head coach.  I guess, in all my naivete, I didnt realize that.  Just posting an opinion, to which I believe I am entitled.  As for being naive, give me time.  I'll will keep reading on here and learning.  Who knows, perhaps the day will come when the enlightened will not consider me as naive.
I personally don't consider you naive. You know exactly what you are talking about, meant every word.

But it's still missing personel, contrary to what you posted. ;) I am not that certain on the "operating in the same manner" but I agree the result would have been the same. ;D
One would be naive to think that a head coach missing from a team's sideline doesn't have some affect on how a team plays. Especially one with as much emotion as Williams.
Totally agree!!!!

 18.

This was a great game. The Hawks came to play but I believe our depth finally wore them out.  DC is very good and a lot of the plays he makes don't show up in the statistics. We hit our FTs down the stretch while the Hawks didn't.  Gus proved how good a PG he is. He seemed to find the open man at will.  When we made our run in the fourth, he was the only Hawk who seemed to handle the pressure. Bosha is gonna be a thorn in the Tigers side for quite a while.  I thought rebounding in the first half was big for the Hawks as well.  And when we would start a little run in the first half HJ would end it with a big shot.  One of those being a LONG rang 3 by Bosha.  Everything you could expect from this rivalry.
Just wondering if those "Silsbee is a 20-30 point better team" disciples still adhere to that contention.
Just goes to show you can win with talent even when your main leader is missing in action. ;D
Hmmmm Not aware of any missing personel for either team
I would say Silsbee not having Travis on the bench qualifies as missing personel. ;) Also. Silsbee was missing Rhone, a key backup, who was gone on a football recruiting trip. HJ still missing Anderson.
 19. As far as the boys games went, Silsbee made a clean sweep tonight, 3-0. HJ  9th    36 SIL  9th    58 HJ  JV      40 SIL  JV      57 HJ            56 SIL          64
 20. I think DC guarded just about every Hawk that suited up tonight. ;D DC did as much on the defensive end as he did on the offensive end.
 21.

So prudhomme led all scorers.....sweet....
Yeah but DC lead his team to the victory!!! Sweeter!  ;D
Yeah but Prudhomme gets to come back next year with 3 out of 5 starters with him!!!! ;) ;)
We already talking about next year?? Is Kerry Cooper on this thread?
 22. Also, this win was without the head coach Travis Williams on the bench. Hopefully we will have Travis back for the game at HJ. This win also makes it 7 out of the last 10 that Silsbee has defeated HJ head-to-head.
 23. Score by quarters                   1       2       3       4      tot HJ               15      14     17      10     56 Silsbee          9       14     17      24     64 The 4th quarter was Silsbee's!! They opened the quarter on a 13-0 run, turning a 6 point deficit, 46-40, to a 7 point lead, 53-46. They extended the run to 20-4, getting a 10 point lead with 2:30 minutes left, 60-50. Both teams basically traded baskets the remaining 2 minutes. Yes LAZEEK, DC is very, very good!! He scored 17 of his 21 points in the 2nd half, scoring 10 in the 4th, to lead the Tigers to victory. Prudhomme led HJ with 22. I wasn't too far off on my prediction. I had Silsbee winning 66-53, final was 64-56.
 24. The doors were closed by the time the girls game started, 6:30. According to folks with the school district, they estimated that over 1,000 got turned away.
