2.
i kinda like it :)
If Orangefield couldn't beat EC last year (lost 35-28) with the team they had last year, what would make anyone think they could beat EC 40-7 this year? EC will be a better team this year than they were last year and Orangefield will not be as good as last year's Bobcat team.

Garrett had no time to throw and we could not run the ball. The defense played well until late in the first half when they ran out of juice because our offense went 3 and out so much. Then when we did get down inside the 10 a couple times they fumbled. Anyway, you can't expect the defense to be in shape after a week and the offensive line, although large, is where our inexperience lies on offense. Only one of them started every game last year and the center spot started when jordan was injured. The rest were on JV so no surprise that they got beat up on by Daytons big experienced front. Probably good to see such a talented bunch out of the gate, beause they may not see a better front again this year. They looked much better against Vidor and I think we will see improvement every week from them.
Wait a minute Gas. You say only one of the o-line started every game last year? According to some(actually, one) WOS has 19 returning starters. ;) ;D
 5. No they didn't? Really?? Truely amazing. ::)
 6.
if ur gonna beat us friday u better do it this year cause the next 3 is gonna be awsome we have 9 freshmen starting. we r very young but i think by district we will be rolling.good luck l-train on ur season
Excuse me, did you say 9 freshmen are STARTING for Jasper's varsity? I'll believe that when I see it. Let me get on the phone.
 7.
so um, you bring out your band, cheerleaders and drill team for a scrimmage??  :D they know who they are  ;)
Why not tell us all?
 8.
So Silsbee beat Lumberton in 3 last night and lost to Lumberton today? Interesting.
I am confused. I was told that Silsbee won the championship of the Silver Bracket.
 9. Was this bracket play or pool play? If it was bracket play, how can Orangefield and Silsbee play in the 3rd place game if they both lost to Lumberton and Lumberton played in the championship game?
 10. highlights [Hidden Content]
 11. Prentice Lane with 2 TD catches. Starting off where he left off as last season's 1st team all-district reciever. QB Kelson McDaniel with 3 TD tosses. Good stuff!!!

Seems like it's been the last 5-10 years..
I would consider the term "walk off" a more recent term. Probably since 2000. I know I played college baseball back in the '80's and never heard the term.

 14.
Skipper and Aggies both predict 6 point wins, what gives?
Sorry, I had a moment of weakness. I forgot that WOS has no kicker, or that's what the folks say. ;) I changed my post to reflect.  ;D
 15. If my memory serves me correct (disclaimer, I am 46 years old ;D), the term "Mid-Major" was started by ESPN in the mid 90's, say around '94. I remember this because Lamar was in the American South Conference I believe, and "Mid-Major" was being tossed around alot back then. I am really not sure, had a few beers since the mid '90's. ;)
 16.
PappaBear-  I think you can count on the fact that Betrayed was not the author of this note, but rather a "copy and paster".  Dont you think it is interesting that when this thread was deleted by administrators as its own subject and then shows up, word for word, in this thread?
I am curious about that myself. I believe that the author of the thread deleted it himself and then placed the post in this thread, but I could be wrong. I'll do some checking.
 17. Since when is a legacy counted only in 6 years? ::) Maybe it should read "Recent History". Legacy kind of sends the wrong message.
 18. Lumberton last in 20-4A? The credibility to this poll just went down the tubes. ;)
 19. Oh here we go! ;D Let the games begin!!!!!! ;D
 20.
I just got a text from WBbear.....he said we had 6 defensive starters out. That makes me feel a bit better.
I was told that Lufkin had 12 starters out.

Actually, kind of suprised to see the Bruins in at #9, but at the same time its kinda nice.
The AP is the worst poll out there.  Most of the writers that make up the pollsters don't know a thing about these teams, especially the lower classifications.
Correct me if I'm wrong AGGIE, but the AP is composed of writers from the large cities and small cities, so check your local AP eligible personnel to file a complaint...j/k...you get the pic.
That's correct Sgt. Actually the only polls worth a flip are the SETXsports.com polls and the polls at Centerfold's in Houston. ;D Oh wait, that's "poles", not "polls". ;D
 22. I will be there on the sidelines keeping the stats. I will post them later tonight.
 23. I was at this scrimmage (the reason why Grad got the stats ;D). Thank goodness for the rain to blow in. I don't know if those kids could have done another 2 more quarters in that heat.(besides, I was getting hungry and hot myself). My take on Kirbyville, once again their offensive line play was very good. Other than 1 sack, QB had plenty of time to throw(the few times they did throw) and they created some running lanes for Ford and co. to run through. Ford had about 165 yards rushing on 14 carries, had two runs of 57 and 63 yards, the latter one a TD run. Other than that, Fred looked a little timid still with his running but he will work through that eventually. As for the Wildcat defense, what a difference a week makes. The defence from last week to this week was night and day. After blitzing at least 95% of time last week against Silsbee, Kirbyville played it very vanilla this week, only blitzing about 4 times out of the 35 offensive plays Ozen ran. Coaches told me they did not want to show too much this week with the Coldspring ccoaches up in the stands. My assessment on Ozen, offensively, they have a good QB in Green as he can really sling it. He made some very good throws to his speedy recievers who continously got behind the Wildcat defenders. Three touchdown passes of 71, 65, and 86 yards showed that Ozen is very capable of the big play. But, they may need that big play too often. The Panthers never could establish any kind of running attack and I would have really liked to have seen Kirbyville bring the pressure to Green and see what the outcome would have been. As for the Ozen defense, they have a lot to work on. Giving up over 350 yards and 4 TD's in just 2 quarters of play is not the kind of dfense that Nelson wants to have. Kirbyville actually missed a few times on some open recievers or they could have score a few other times. Ozen definitely needs work on their run defense. I do believe had the weather not shut it down, Ozen probably would have faired better in the second half. Kirbyville looked spent as they had played everybody and it looked as though Ozen still had fresh players on their sidelines. It was inevitable that a 400 enrollment school Kirbyville to eventually tire going up against a 1200 enrollment Ozen. Wildcats suited out 24 players on varsity today, Panthers had 44. In 95 degree heat going four 12 minute quarters, I like the team with the 44 players. ;)
