Sounds like Transferring for athletic reasons to me, ;) someone might wont to checkin on that ;D Sound like rats jumping off a sinking ship also :D :D
Actually, though most folks might think that Dove is moving his sons for "athletic" reasons, in this case, that's not true. Good luck to the Hunter brothers.
 2.
I was told by a few "in the know" at the Silsbee tourney that the Hunter brothers are Ozen bound. ;)
Looks like those few "in the know" knew what they were talking about back on the 17th of July. ;) ;D
 3.
I was rolling my eyes at aaw.  Sorry
I get that all the time. ;D
 4. I have a friend in Abilene who has told me that Abilene Cooper, Abilene High and even Brownwood High are having celebratory parades due to "scooter" leaving that part of the country. His words, "See ya, don't let the door hit ya where the......." Well you know the rest. ;D
 5. [Hidden Content] I guess the rumors were true after all. ;) ;D Dove, will HF still win their state title this year and the next 2 years?
 6.
If a young basketball player, say in middle school or as a freshman, could pick any area program to participate in, which would offer him the best opportunity to develop and maximize his skills as he progresses toward the varsity level....and why??
So, you are asking which "program" (aka high school) one should send their kids to be better basketball players? WOW!!! Isn't there a UIL rule about transferring for "athletic" reasons? Clearly you are not suggesting that you send your kid to another school just for that purpose. Will you be moving to this "other" school's district? Sadly, I agree with Dove, if a player hasn't got the fundamentals by high school, he/she is way behind.
 7.
The real question is, why are our school districts paying "aides" as much money as they are paying if they are only aide/coaches.  And if they are paying them as aides, what kind of person is happy making the little amount of money?  If we are paying aides as much as head coaches when they are not certified teachers, I"d think the taxpayers would have something to say about that.
Trust me, these "aides" are not being paid like a head coach is being paid.

 9.
Does anyone know how HJ, Silsbee and Ozen handle their assistants for Basketball? Do they coach football, what experience do they have and what classes they teach?
At Silsbee, all three assistants (if you are including Coach Mackey) all coach football. Coach Brooks and Coach Collins have always coached football at Silsbee and are paraprofessionals. Coach Mackey (a former head coach/AD) is the offensive co. and physical ed teacher. All three have coached basketball at Silsbee since they have been here (except for Mackey who did not coach basketball for 1 1/2 seasons of his 13 years at Silsbee)
 10.
I am as big of a Nederland basketball fan as anyone but I don't feel Neumann is a bad AD. Nederland is successful in 90% of the sports played at the school. Not just football. Neumann is the one brought in all of those coaches. Should he have brought in a coach with BB experience? Of course. But I don't think one bad move should have got him stripped of his AD duties. He went out and got Coach E from Vidor and paid him. He has brought Nederland a long long way in his 18 years. Quite sure almost every sport has improved. Also I don't think AD/Head Coach should be separated. There is not enough money in school budgets as it is and especially not to pay an extra position. However, I strongly feel AD shouldn't have to be the football coach. Some of these coaches are not remotely qualified to do both jobs. There are several coaches that don't coach football that I feel would do a better job but they were coaching the wrong sport and never got a chance.
Very good post. I agree!
 11.
Why next week?  Is that Monday or Friday? The sooner the better?
Okay, how about by mid-week?  ;D I just think he has a couple of hurdles to manage first, then he will join the team. Could be as early as Monday, but as late as Friday, but either way it's next week. ;) ;D
 12.

Only you would know what they said at practice so I guess we'll have to take your word for it.... ::)  Its ok to be a homer just dont expect your opinion to mean much thats all.
Kind of like we don't care what kind of an opinion a Kat fan has.  :o
;D ;D ;D
 13.
CPA is different. But I'd argue that someone with a bachelor's degree and good business sense/leadership skills could do a better job as a superintendent than many of them out there. There are plenty of good coaches in the state of Texas who would do a great job working with hs kids even though they are not certified teachers.
I agree. But what happens when that school district needs that "coach" to teach in a classroom? You can have just so many aids on a campus. With these budget cuts taking place, you need as many coach/educators as possible. By comparison, not too many coaches in the state that do not have to teach in a classroom versus the ones that do. That's why you see school districts sometimes pass over some coach because his/her teaching field doesn't fit that districts needs at the present time. In these times, a coach has to pull double duty (coach/teach)
 14. [Hidden Content] I look for him to join the Cards next week.
 15. [Hidden Content] Saw this coming from a mile away. ::)

 17. Great addition to Texas A&M basketball!!!
 18. [Hidden Content] Slight correction in the blog. Garrett Drake has started on varsity before, just not at quarterback. Drake was a starting safety and receiver last year.

 20.
Worthing?  Are you serious?  That's real funny.
What's more funny is the fact that "scooter" believes teams win and lose scrimmages. ::)
