The Baytown Lee game was on Tuesday, Dec. 4th. Silsbee had just got knocked out of the football playoffs the Friday before, Nov. 29th. Silsbee football players had 1 day of practice (Monday, Dec. 3rd) and then the game. Not all the football players suited out for the Lee game because they were still nursing some football injuries. Silsbee lost 75-74 at Lee. Those are the facts of the matter.
Yea? Well, read my signature line. It haven't changed for 7 years... 8) ;)
I agree with that. Silsbee JV beat Central varsity, results, no excuses. ;) 8)

SETXsports Weekly HS Preview Show?

I'll have to go scope out the new location in Lumberton and see how accommodating it is to do a show from there. -

Just asking what the count is....
Silsbee has now defeated HJ 6 of last 7 and 10 of last 13 (77% win percentage). Tigers have now claimed an out right or co-district championship for 6 straight seasons. (co-champs '08, '09, '12, out right '10, '11, '13)
Impressive numbers.... ;).....So you guys are now in the Yates bracket, possibly setting up a 2nd round meeting?
3rd round (quarterfinal). 21-3A 3rd place will see Yates in 2nd round (Area)

Heard the Tigers handled the Lions with ease. ;) -
I think you have to include Johnson, even though he is not on the team currently.
Bottom line is HJ returns 3 starters from last nights game and if Johnson had played, it would still be 3 starters returning
Correct. But we both know there is quite a difference in Johnson and Stevens.
Ford Park or Nederland would work!
I highly doubt WO-S would agree to play HJ at Ford Park. HJ has played three games there this season, one just a week from the seed game. WO-S has never played there. Could see game played at East Chambers or Ozen.
If Silsbee beats WOS, will HJ and WOS have to have a coin flip or playoff game at Central for 2nd place?
If Silsbee beats WO-S and Hardin-Jefferson beats Hamshire-Fannett, then the two will play a game for the 2nd seed. There will be no coin flip. Too much riding on outcome. The venue for this seed game has not been set and I highly doubt the game would be played at Central.

IMO, this game was a mirror image of the first game. Silsbee jumps out to a lead, builds it to as much as 25, ends 3rd quarter leading by 20. HJ comes out in 4th on fire, cutting lead down to 11 in first 2 minutes of 4th, get it down to 8 a couple of times, but just couldn't get any closer. Basically the same as last time. I find it very difficult to come away from this game disappointed. I mean, when you beat any HJ team by 8 and end up sweeping them in district, that's a very good thing!! Tigers should be very happy. But some came away from this game disappointed and I am not talking about HJ folks. I admit, a part of me thinks that Silsbee is a 15-18 point better team than HJ, but a part of me also thinks that the results are the true indicator, that Silsbee is a 5-8 point better team than HJ. It is what it is. All in all, sweeping your district rivals and a quality team like Hardin-Jefferson is a very good thing. We Tiger fans should be happy about that, regardless if it's a 20 or 1 point wins. Silsbee has now defeated HJ 6 of last 7 and 10 of last 13 (77% win percentage). Tigers have now claimed an out right or co-district championship for 6 straight seasons. (co-champs '08, '09, '12, out right '10, '11, '13)
I said it once and I'll say it again. It's gonna be a Looooong time before Hj beats Silsbee again on the Varsity level. (10 + yrs or longer) Silsbee farm system is loaded!! Wos and Silsbee is now the game to see. I think Hj new rivalry will be H.F, just like the old days
::) ::) ::)
