1. Shameful.  Vidor is not the racist capital that outsiders portray it as.  The people there now do not deserve that.
 2. 1 and 3 seem to conflict a little bit.  1 says that BPF 1.15 is legal for 14U and below, regardless of weight.  But, 3 says the bat must be BPF 1.15 -5 OR BBCOR.  Should 3 read BPF 1.15, -5, OR BBCOR?  (3 different categories?)  Or is 1 supposed to be 13U?
 3. I have nothing to do with STJFL, but let it go.  STJFL is a private organization and for whatever reason they decided that they don't want Port Arthur involved anymore. It's unfortunate, but that is their right as a private organization.    If you have a place for your kids to play next season, go there and make the most of it.  Why stay where you aren't wanted and continue to dwell on it?  Besides, if some of the other teams were so inferior to your PA teams, what good are you doing your kids by blowing out weaker teams every week.
 4. This has bad idea written all over it... For a host of reasons.
 5.
This was actually a very good game untill the 4th.  The wheels came off and Nederland rose to the challenge and put us away when it counted.  We know we can play with Nederland.  We need to work on some things in the 4th period.  We've lost many games this year due to no execution in the 4th.  I still say that you need your best players (G. Mitchell and K. Smith) to be in the best positions to do damage on set plays.  Smith is a good 3 point shooter.  Get him an open 3 point look off an off the ball screen. If they play it too tight, he'll drive in and finish at the cup.    Get Mitchell a good look off a quick curl for a midrange jumper.  If they overpersue, he can also finish at the cup in traffic.  If we want to beat Nederland in the second meeting and make a nice playoff run, these are things that we need to work on for the next few weeks, IMO.
As a Nederland graduate from 20 or so years ago, it still shocks me what Brian English has done here.  I never thought I would see the day when Central would be talking about being able to compete with Nederland and hopefully beating them in the next game.  Huge reversal of fortune.

Remember, this team is young. There were 2 sophs and 3 juniors on the floor quite a bit. Great job!!
And? North Shore starting guards are sophmores.
What big team have they beaten? Hightower? Hightower is not the same team like last year that went to Austin.
Did U watch Ned play this weekend Dove? Why don't you stop hatin' and give those kids some credit? They deserve it!  >:(
I agree with you. They will be a force in their district. But Hightower is still playing in the playoffs. At least seven players are missing off that team.
NEderland is missing 5 starters from last year  8)
They graduated ::)
I guess we should have tried to reload with some "transfers" from HF?
 7. Blue Dove: I'm sure your kids are great players.  That seems to be the consensus of everyone that has seen them play.  What I can't understand is your incessant downplaying of Nederland's basketball program.  I know you think that any program not built by AAU types and "free agents" doesn't deserve any credit, but Coach English has built a strong program from scratch without blue chip talent.  This is not a flash in the pan anymore.  This program is going on 4 strong years now and it's coming from the grass roots.  No one puts them in the class of historically strong programs like Ozen, Central, HJ, Silsbee (or Hamshire Fannett) yet, but they are clearly emerging.  I can't help but wonder what is really behind your seeming hatred for Nederland basketball?
 8. Bullard may have lost the game, but someone from there just beat the English language to a pulp.
 9. I coached with Clint in Vidor several years ago.  He was always a very good X's and O's guy, but more than that, he gets every ounce of effort and talent out of his players.  Very similar to Jeff Mathews, the kids know that Clint loves them and they will run through walls for him.  He has earned everything he has ever gotten in the coaching profession and no one has worked harder for this type of opportunity than Clint.  Good luck and bring it home this weekend!

Quirante is a great player, but how can the Defensive MVP not come from the district's best defense?  That doesn't make any sense to me.  Corbin Carr was the most dominant defensive player that I saw all season.
Got no problem with that if you make Montana MVP. How are you a leader on both sides of the ball and not MVP? Totally agree with you. Seems to me the voting wasn't done according to the stats or the obvious for that matter. I have no idea what these individuals based the voting on but they didn't get it right. Period.
I would probably agree with you on that.  Quirante was the straw that stirred the drink for the Pirates this year.
 11. That's pretty top-notch right there.  The coaching profession needs more men like that.

 13.
Yes you beat us when we had a retard for a coach but them days have long since been gone. YOUR COACH KNEW IT WAS OVER, so he left while on top. I don't blame him. You will soon be the Shepherd of your district. So enjoy and talk about the years you was good because you will not see any for a while again. Most of these kids just started middle school those days you was good and to them its like remembering the 1960's.
You just committed a personal foul on the English language.  A little bit of syntax, conjugation and grammar never hurt anyone.  I promise.  If you are going to try and dog another school, at least try and use the King's English and not whatever hillbilly dialect that you just used.  You are not exactly a ringing endorsement for the quality of the education from whatever school you came from.
 14. Anyone that would even try to make the argument that 19-4A is better (at least for this season) has zero credibility right now.
 15. I wouldn't sweat it too much.  The kumbaya only goes so far and not everyone is going to buy into it.  Overall, most people in our area are going to support the neighboring schools, but you can't expect everyone to be on board given the rivalries and battles in this district.
 16. Vidor definitely gets a bad rap.  99.9% of the people there are great and they get pulled down by people that live on the outskirts of or out of Vidor entirely.  In my experience, what was described here is more the norm than the old stories of racism.  Hopefully more people in this area will come to see what Vidor really is now as opposed to what it may have been in the past.
 17. If you are trying to get an indication of what type of talent different teams have coming up, you should focus on Freshman results, not JV.  Especially in 3A and above.
 18. Still impressive for a freshman to kick on a varsity team, but that is completely different from a freshman playing every down on offense or defense.
 19.
I knew that when I started it, but also knew that I would get some honest feedback. All opinions were appreciated and I am going to use them to turn this situation into a positive one.
If you and your son can use this situation that way and he learns to harness his aggression and competitiveness, then this can be a great teachable moment.  I'll give you this, you are pretty brave for putting this out for everyone to see and comment on.  It sounds like your son is very talented.  I hope this is just a bump in the road for him.
 20.
He's a very aggresive kid who hates to lose. He does have an attitude, but lots of kids do in every sport. I expected his coaches to maybe sit him or work with him, but that didn't happen. He's not perfect, but to just ignore the problem isn't acceptable to me. He needed a positive role model to work him thru it and didn't get that.
If your kid has attitude problems, you need to be the role model and take care of it.  Period.  It's great that he hates to lose, but if he is becoming a cancer and you aren't doing anything to remedy it, then I would tend to side with the coach.  The coach may have faults in other areas, but the attitude problem is yours to work with and fix.
 21. I feel sorry for Credeur and his staff.  He seems like a good guy, by it looks like he rode an ultra-talented group pretty far a few years back and it looks, unfortunately, like that program is taking a few steps back. This year's 8th graders look pretty talented so hopefully that program will get back to respectability pretty soon.  This district is definitely much more fun to watch when L-train fans are being cocky.
