My quick take on this game (ready to go to bed):
Difference in this game was that WO-S has the better defense and in much better shape. Thought the two offenses were even, a complete wash.
WO-S ran a total of 70 offensive plays to Silsbee's 40. Tiger defense was spent in the 4th Q.
Congrats Mustangs on the win. You are the better overall team.

Congratulations Mustangs on a hard fought win.  Great game until about 10 minutes left.  When WOS went up 2 scores and we didn't respond.  It looked like we may have been able to get a running game going there as it looked like the size of the Tiger online was wearing some on the WOS defensive line.  Unfortunately for us Tigers there wasn't enough time left for us to keep running.  The same was definitely the case on the other side of the ball with WOS able to run at will and eat the clock on that last to drive.  I was proud of my Tigers for the way they fought back after being down 2 scores in that first half.  In past years against WOS that's the point when we have got down on ourselves and each other.  Keep working guys and this season will be a good one. I was impressed tonight by the qb play of both teams, not many better in this area.  I will say this tonight it wasn't the defense that won it for the Mustangs it was the offense.  The Tigers struggled to stop them all night.  That last TD before the half was big.

Congrats to the Stangs. Good luck on the rest of the yr. Now I can root for yall again.

are you drunk or something? Weakest district in the state is ok I guess when you play for a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP last year. And hopefully again this year. What in the world does your district have to do with the last 4 years of you made the Quarter Finals in the first 4 years then the SC game in the 5th? 99% of schools would be happy with just a playoff win. Go to bed and sleep it off. You got beat by a better team. Like I said, Silsbee is the real deal. Yall will make noise in D1 but stop trying to degrade us with our district opponents or we've only won 2 of the 5 State Championships we've played in. Just that right there makes you look silly when Silsbee hasn't even sniffed a quarter final.

Nice W Stangs.  Strong 4th qtr with Silsbee not finishing drives proved the difference. Tigers will work on it and finish where they need to be.

Hear ye well.... WOS is THE game for the Tigers.  It will show Dontre everything he needs to change to be the guy.  If he can see the field, which he did not in the first half against Livingston, WOS will take notice.
That being said..... WOS is WOS.

I thought JJ's teams were better than Reeds and I thought JJ was a better QB, all around.
I, too, believe this will be no more than a 14 point difference either way. Not all Mustangs underestimate the Tigers and I can assure you the WOS coaches and players will not. That's all that matters.
The simple truth is that we've played tall receivers, but they did not have the speed the Silsbee receivers do. We've faced a better passing QB, but he was not the threat to run that Thomas is. There are match-up situations in this game that are different than anything we've seen this year.

To me, that is part of the problem with the AP poll.  If Newton goes and loses to Henderson....even it is relatively close....they are going to drop in the poll.  
To me, losing to Henderson by 7-14 points is more impressive than pounding someone that is not very good.  
But in the end, polls are polls.  At the end of the day, the teams playing in December are the ones to remember.    

Reggie is missed by all. Thinking about the friends and family of Mr Garrett and the whole WOS family. 

that is a big statement to make this early on.  Even if Wos were to beat my Tigers as bad as they beat Jasper,  I wouldn't make that statement until the end of the year.  Just like I shy away from making those big statements on the current Tiger basketball team.  Sure I are high hopes but you just never know how these things will work out!

You know, as we set here and go back and forth with one another we all hAve a love for football. I would hope that most of us are poking and jabbing at each other in fun. We are just men and women with no control or influence on the outcomes of these games we speak of. Unfortunately there will be some men that will act like kids on here, and some kids on here that want to act like grown men. At the end of the day this is about groups of young men out there on the field playing a game that they enjoy and love. Hopefully they cherish every minute of it because for most it over after high school. Then all they can do is get on these forums and join us. Lol. There's nothing like Texas in the fall during football season. Some of my fondest memories with my dad as a young kid, high school age and after I graduated was going and watching playoff games. Going to the Astrodome in the late 80s and watching Sugar Land Willowridge with Thurman Thomas running all over everyone. Man I miss those days and feel sorry for the ones that never had the opportunity to experience these things. I do a lot of business with folks from the Mid West, North East and they just can't understand our infatuation with high school football. I just hope there are other young kids out there that are getting to enjoy the same experiences that I had as a kid because I wouldn't become the man, husband and father that I am to today without my father sharing with me the love of high school football. 

I have a lot of respect for the Silsbee program and they always have athletes. My young stangs have been impressive too. The mobile qb is my biggest concern. Both teams will be better because of this game. With that being said....Go Stangs!

Great post and thanks for the insight. I coached two of Humble's standout Srs. In peewee from last years team and they too mentioned to watch out for this years squad. Terio is a playmaker and the defense should be steady. I banked on you guys making the playoffs literally so I hope you come through, just not this week. Facing Crosby, like it does any team, only prepares you for a nice playoff run. Hope for an injury free game!!

I have a strange feeling there will be a few more teams this year that will "Shoot themselves in the foot" vs Lumberton.  We don't care how you report it as long as you report it with a W in our column. 

BC just got beat.... period.  Dubois' gameplan to throw the ball early wasn't a bad idea, it just wasn't successful.  Lumberton WAS vulnerable to the passing attack, but we just didn't capitalize.  Lumberton's lines (D&O) simply pushed our lines around.  BC turned the ball over on downs several times.  There was a BC turnover right at the goal line, but then Lumberton went three and out... our punt returner #8 returned the ball back to about the five, and we eventually scored a touchdown.  It was a turnover, but not costly.  Lumberton held us on two consecutive go-ahead drives in the fourth, and then forced a BC fumble on the final series.  Lumberton did what they needed to do and EARNED that victory.  BC didn't shoot themselves in the foot.  They showed up for the gunfight without a pistol.
 
My opinion is that BC got ahead of themselves and greatly underestimated what turned out to be a Lumberton team that had two weeks to prepare for us, and they were ready.  Not wanting to make excuses, but BC just wasn't ready to play.  This game was picked as the "game of the week" by both local TV affiliates, and it wasn't because of Lumberton's 1 pt win over Hamshire-Fannett.  The whole thing took on an atmosphere of "we can't be beat" instead of "I believe we can win." There was a 5:15 am Pep Rally on Friday morning.  That's right.... up at four-thirty on gameday to be at the school for a pep rally and interviews.  There was another pep rally that afternoon which featured a hot-dog eating contest for some of the O-line.  
Coach Dubois tried to get his players out of the 5AM pep rally, but no dice.   I believe that the kids got a (much needed) wake-up call in an otherwise meaningless game, and luckily nobody got hurt.  Dubois will make the necessary adjustments and we'll be back in business shortly.  
 

Pretty telling, only 3 of the 8 coaches in the region think Crosby is the best 5A squad. If I had to rank the squads unbiased I would have George Ranch #1, Vandy #2, Cedar Park #3, Crosby #4 and CP Vista Ridge #5.

I as a mustang fan know that Silsbee has one of the best football programs around SUPER FANS. this should be a good games as always

I know this young Tiger team has a tough row to hoe Friday night. We don't scare and we don't run from any challenge. We know the tradition we face and we embrace it. We want these type of games, the challenges that WOS brings, it gets us ready for district and a playoff run. Silsbee and WOS has had some great games in the past and usually the outcome coming in the final minutes. That's the game I think we will see Friday. Here's to no injuries for both teams. Go Tigers!!!  

Then go to an academic website and all you mensa boys can talk quantum physics, this is a football thread. Youv'e been on here for years bumping your gums about Crosby and telling folks how good BH WAS in football so reap what y'all have sown. Funny thing is, Crosby WILL be graduating two from Rice with honors probably, a masters at TCU, future MLB player that graduated with honors, another kid that will play under the shield next year, and several Div I honors bestowed in the next few years, oh and BTW ranked number 2 in the state. So wallow in your self pity and deflect the fact that Crosby is coming in your house for a beatdown (unless BH's 1920's offense can't milk the clock to keep it respectable) with what I'm sure is a shot at Crosby with academic talk and we'll just go about business as usual, like have our cake and eat it too!!!!!

Congratulation on the win BC, was not at the game but the games I have been at the referees were just plain bad. No home cooking just bad so I expect it to be like that the rest of the way. I truly hope you go deep in the playoffs all the way to Houston.

HJ does not beat Jasper this year, no matter who was coaching the Hawks.

Yeah.Sometimes we think they make calls on purpose and we know that's not the case.They make the call or no call on what they think they saw.They get a lot more right than wrong.Now I can't wait for Friday to holler at them when they screw up.lol

Congrats to Austin Walter on his first ever college game. He rushed for 107 yards on 12 carries and had a touchdown in his Rice debut. 
Congrats to Clayton Callicutt in being named pre-season All-America at #12 San Angelo. Had 6 tackles, 2tfl, and a sack in the opener. Kid is as legit as they come at the D2 level and a potential late round draft pick, definitely will get a shot on the league though. 
Congrats to Donnie Starks, one FBS offer but has become the starter in the nickel at Kansas State. Kid is going to play a bunch of football for one of the best coaches in the country, Bill Snyder. 
Biggest congrats of all goes to Dominic Merka who received his bachelor's degree from #2 TCU last May but will be finishing up his eligibility while receiving his 4th letter this fall.

Those guys that put that poll out mostly live in the DFW area. They mainly go to DFW area games. They claim to have all the inside scoop on teams, coaches, etc, etc,
Setxsports could put out a state-wide poll and be just as good or better at ranking teams.
 
Fortunately games are won on the field and not on paper.
