  1. Because he had 2 parents with ample athletic/life experience, resources, education, etc to teach him things that MANY kids from poverty stricken, under-educated homes never get taught.
  2. Never said he committed a crime. I just wouldn't lump him in with the group/culture that you're saying we don't understand.
  3. Preaching to the choir is preaching to people that DO understand.... but i get what you're saying. You gotta admit though, TB had advantages that lots of Ozen kids never do/will. I do believe he's one of the exceptions and not the rule in his community though.
  4. Agreed on that part. I know the browns from their Dayton days. He was raised properly.
  5. Interesting that there are varying opionions of the difficulty of the workouts. As a coach, I'm not a huge fan of assigning exercise for punishment. I think missing a competition has been a much more effective form of getting through to a student(assuming this was an athletic period), rather than making them hate the process of getting fitter/stronger.
  6. The news often sensationalizes things. Parents often overreact to things. I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
  7. Do your informants know your divulging all this top secret information? Have you made this facebook official?
  8. I seriously doubt bh is scared. Maybe they don't want to travel, but bh doesn't shy away from anyone in sports in my opinion.
  9. Someone from another school brought Crosby into the conversation by saying Crosby is over on 2100 shaking or something like that. I don't blame Cougar 14.2 for responding.
  10. Easy there.... He was talking about the apartment complex behind Iguana Joe's. Trust me, no one that knows anything is gonna compare Dayton's facilities to BH's. Dayton has been taking the tennis kids to Eagle Point for the past several years to practice. New courts are finally in the works though. Even though some Dayton folks were against building them.
  11. I was in the same kindergarten class as Freeman... in DAYTON! Maybe he's still a Bronco deep down in there. Don't know that he'd apply or have a real shot if he did. But he's a very good guy and coach. Also, he has a connection to lots of Dayton kids through where he attends church. Good luck to him wherever.
  12. I remember when he first started at LM. Had been at Houston Chavez before (I think) and folks were really impressed with the job he had done there. Not sure how the LM fans feel about him now. Personally, I'm very impressed that he has stuck it out at LM.
  13. Sounds right... maybe someone has to file a Freedom of Information form? Can't remember for sure.
  14. [Hidden Content] After reading the GCM thread, I thought this might be beneficial. A place for you Dayton folks to voice your opinion, advice, expectations etc.

    What?

There are the radicals... and the rest, I'm afraid, belong to the group in the video below. As a Christian, I can renounce the crazies (Westboro, etc.)... why can't they?
  16. Cop was charged, now hopefully he'll get convicted. McDonald's mother was also awarded 5 million dollars back in April. Wish his great grandmother was still living. She raised him far more than anyone else from what i read, and would be a very comfortable lady right now. Sad ending to a sad life for that young man. The fathers of all races in this country have to do better.
  17. Interesting that you say that. The CC team has Coach Leonard. He might be older, but he's a great motivator and he's training them with lots of new principles and ideas. That's the type of coach folks are saying would benefit the football program.
  18. It's amazing to me that everyone and their brother knows the verse from Matthew that says, "Judge not, lest you be judged". However, they ignore the verses that tell us to judge righteously and that we'll know other Christians by their fruit. Sorry, but if anyone is truly a Christian, they will not stand neutral on topics that the bible clearly says are wrong. The Gospel is much simpler than Christians have made it. But, God's standard is higher than the point we've watered it down to as well. 1. NO ONE is good. 2. We are all sinners. Regardless if it is lying, stealing, adultery (even in your heart), homosexuality, lust, blasphemy, idol worship(putting things before Him) or murder. 3. The punishment for sin is eternity in hell. 4. Jesus paid for our sins because we never could. 5. His grace covers our sin. Christians are required to spread this message and to tell people the truth IN LOVE. If I truly love my child, I won't stand by the side of the road as they walk into traffic on I-10 and calmly request that they come back to my side, being careful not to upset them. Out of honest desire for them to live, I'll yell, grab their arm, sacrifice myself, or do anything it takes to make sure that they continue living. The same should go for Christians who know that the people around them are headed for certain death. Many Christians, myself included, have worried about making folks uncomfortable for far too long. People need to hear that they NEED a Savior, NOT that God wants them to be happy. We can do that with love and genuine concern though. And yes... God LOVES homosexuals. God doesn't have a sin meter. ALL sin is the same and it separates us from HIM unless we receive his grace.
  19. The "Worth the Wait" curriculum DOES cover the risks of unprotected sex. Also, our teachers field any and all questions students might have in regards to sex.... and believe me.... there are lots. Parents need to do a better job.
  20. Quality post there. No reason to invite the extremists out to do what they're aching to do. Stupid... major respect to that officer though.
