Shame so many players will be out. Carthage having to bring quite a few jv players. Any other coach would have canceled the game but as scarce as games are, Surratt knows the players need the work. And to bury a friend earlier in the week, he has a lot on him.

Coach Surratt was a pallbearer few days ago for a covid victim and the football team has apparently been hit with cases. I'm hearing they will be short manned but looks like the game will be played.

Carthage schedules the best competition they can pre district not for bragging rights but to prepare for a title run. It has become more and more difficult to find teams that will play. Don't know why Crosby agreed to this 2 year deal but we know they thought they had a pretty good team last year. Guess that one wasn't played due to a storm.

Aledo you love to bash Carthage. Why is that? You continue to troll any thread that references Carthage. Who is playing up in classification in this game and who is playing down? LOL. Carthage has always tried to play up in preseason but it has become increasingly difficult with their success. How many 6-A teams does Aledo play?

Surratt would rather win by 3 and work on some things than win by 28 and not get the work in on things he wanted to work on. Not saying he doesn't want to win every game but he will plan the season with the only objective of winning another title. You will be deceived if you look at games and scores before playoffs.

Well maybe I missed something but I was just pointing out what schools are in the county. My kids could have gone to either Beckville or Carthage. Carthage, Beckville, and Gary interchange kids all the time. These are small schools. Gary doesn't even have football. Move in's are almost non existent without some prior connection to the area. Best jobs in the area are either oil/gas related or at a nearby coal mine. Global warmers have all but destroyed those.
