#17 is considered their best player and they have a lot of confidence in the senior. He was put in at qb a couple weeks ago. I really wonder if the change was made because they thought it would give them the best chance to win rather than the sophomore qb throwing into the Carthage defense. Carthage has a history of stealing Gilmer passes and the new set up put the ball in #17’s hands on every play. The sophomore played late in the game.

Gilmer always has great athletes. As many as anybody I would think. Tonight the 100 meter champ was bottled up. So was the TCU commit.

I've watched a lot of gilmer and carthage games. gilmer had who they thought could give them the best chance at qb. to win. gilmer is a running team and carthage makes a living picking gilmer passes.

Yea pretty funny VA had just scored about 20 seconds earlier with about 40 seconds left in the game. VA scoring ok but Carthage scoring is trash.

Guess if you don't have BallysportsSW then you buy another subscription. Doesn't look like nfhs will carry the game.

VA let his starters continue to score on Carthage 2’s and 3’s. Why should Carthage not allow his reserves to score. VA decided to take advantage of Carthage good graces. Shouldn’t whine when they get scored on. The question is what kind of coach won’t let his backups play when the game is over and the other coach signals they are not wanting to pile up points and rub it in.

Carthage gets a 35-0 win and everyone complaining of it being a very sloppy performance, including the coach. Surratt takes out some of that sloppiness and this game shouldn't be close. We'll see if H-F can make it more sloppy.

guessing carthage meets china spring 3rd game then bellville or wos 4th game. been so long since they had serious competition not sure how good they really are. plenty of other good teams later in the playoffs so nothing is a given. got to play disciplined football by the time you get 3 rounds in.

Don Hyde at LaVega is a highly respected defensive mind in high school coaching. We remember his comments before that championship game with Carthage when he said they dissected the Carthage offense and it took so many pages it boggled their mind.

yea i think they have lost their marbles on paying that kind of money. Surratts time will come at the time of his choosing. I know Carthage opponents are anxious for the day thus this topic comes up frequently.

worry that this time of the season the heavily favored teams can loose focus and get a little lazy.

Grove scored on a kickoff runback. Carthage had a very poor first half offensively and weren't very sharp the second half. Offense shows some weakness at every position and will have to make significant improvement.
