Got some info on this...this was a footwork drill when the injury happened and that this is a pre-existing condition (he injured the elbow before)  As if there wasn't drama in Nederland before now the new football coach is taking heat from the baseball people because of it...Coach Rich is trying to change the culture at Nederland it was inevitable that he ruffled a few feathers along the way

Maybe the Nederland folks will realize someone else besides the AD may be the issue.

why do people in general feel like social media is were anything & everything gets resolved. It wasn’t intentional & it was a general drill. if helmets weren’t used & the other kid cuts his eye on the baseball players elbow. I’m sure the headlines would be. WHY are these young babies NOT wearing helmets….

The winner of Buna/Hardin tonight pretty much sows up the 4 seed, with a possibility of 3 seed, depending on what Anahuac does with Warren tonight.  There could likely be a 3 way "play-in" game as well depending on how things go the last game.  Either way, the Buna/Hardin game tonight will be a huge factor in seeding.

Buna won. What does that do ?

    Orangefield 6

    Hardin 4

Orangefield clinches DC. 4th consecutive District Championship for Coach Erickson. 2 in 4a and 2 more in 3a.

    From OISD Facebook

    Bobcats clinch District Championship

The Orangefield Bobcats clinched the district championship Tuesday night with a 6-4 win over the Hardin Hornets. Kane Smith, Logan Cheek, and Matthew Johnson led the offense with two hits each. Cameron Dearing drove in 3 runs on the night.
Carson Gonzales earned the win in relief, pitching 5.2 innings of 1 hit baseball, allowing zero runs with 6 strikeouts.
The Bobcats have district matchups vs Kountze and Anahuac left, before heading into playoff baseball.

  4. I think finally the bats are getting hotter for Orangefield. Beginning of the season they struggled with timely hits & left too many on base.  Seems they are starting to score some runs

    Bullpen is strong
Their #1 pitcher (#13) Sr pounds the strike zone consistently. upper 70’s low 80’

#18 (Sophomore) is getting consistent in the strike zone get lots of K’s low 80’s

#17 (Freshman) is gaining confidence & getting comfortable on the mound mid 85+

#20 (Sr) getting better & catching up after basketball should move up in the rotation as his arm strength increases, low/mid 80’s.

Definitely gonna need some pitching to make a deep run in the playoffs

The way I see it is hire a guy that will make you a district champ and get you deep into the playoffs for 2 years attracts better coaching if he did leave in 2 years vs hiring the LLCA guy to throw the ball and go .500 on the season with a relatively easy schedule for the next 5 years. No good coaches are gonna want to come.

I’m trying to see what the difference you are complaining about. Over the last 12 years Orangefield has been .500

Being .500 running Slot T is different from .500 “Wide open West Coast Offense” as you say.

I still haven’t figured out why OF fans are in such a hurry to run the spread lol. There are lots of really bad teams running the spread, & we won a ton of games with the Slot T over really good programs. The Slot T fit our athletes well. Parents with very little football knowledge hate On the Slot T all the time, I’ve lived in OF for over 40 years, go look at some of the records we had before the Slot T, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. I hope we go 10-0 next year but LCM hasn’t exactly been world beaters. I’m optimistic but I’m also realistic, and I feel the Slot T was very good for OF.

It’s not the fact that Orangefield is wanting to run the Spread or hated the Wing-T (actually Orangefield ran 60% Power I) it’s the fact of the 95% run offense &  the predictable passing game.

im hoping for a more balanced Offense NOT 95% Air Raid Not Wing T or slot T.

is asking for Balance that much of an issue to ole blood Orangefield people ?

going .500 over 12 years may get you a “Ton” of Wins but Orangefield is Better than a 500 winning percentage.

This is probably the primary reason the chirpers above didn't feel like he was a good "fit". Might get in Little Johnny's way of being the first air raid QB in the history of the Orangefield program. Either way, I do not know Coach Breaux, and I wish him the best of luck. I just can't get over the fact that a coach with state championship experience applied for the Orangefield job and didn't get it. That's probably the darndest thing I've ever heard on this site! If they'd do a little research, the reasons he has had so many job changes are understandable and clearly worked to advance his career. His oldest is heading to Lamar and his younger son is about to be a freshman. Sounds like a pretty good shot for, at least, a 4-year term. If he delivers to Orangefield in those 4 years what he has delivered in Harmony in his 2 years there, I promise you the candidates for the job next time would be significantly better than the list they had for this opening. But, hey, we gon' run da spread!!

What exactly are you implying? That Jenkins was a “no go” because he was bringing in a QB like Sanders at Colorado?

I’m not in touch with the program much anymore, but I didn’t do a lot of cheering.

Everybody knows that BC athletes are far superior to those that OF produces in every way, but we also play in a much tougher district. I don’t expect Smallley to have any better results in BC than he did at OF. Who knows? We might even finish as a four seed sometimes.

I mean… if your district is populated by Silsbee, Jasper, HF, and WOS (the old WOS, anyways) you’d want to hire somebody capable of elevating the program to point where you’d be competitive, right?

    Or not.

Spoken like a true typical BC resident.

    So Annoying

LOL, cites "LH (without top 2 RBs) losing in State Semi-Finals as evidence of offense not working. Ignores that LH is the top scoring offense in 5A, ignores that Franklin won back-to-back State Championships and set the all-time record for points in a season.

Does not cite the hundreds/thousands of teams running the spread that did not make it to the State Semifinals or in some cases did not win a single game.

Does not really know the size of other teams OL. Believes spread offense is better suited for "small OL".

Hey @89Falcon. How’s that Strictly Wing T working out for LH now???

should have worked on the passing games throughout the year.

    facts son.

  10. A). No one on here has made any arguments about Fans wanting him to leave. Every year ever school have some people wanting their AD to leave. Orangefield isn’t any different. I would say more than 75% still believe in what he’s doing. Everytime BC changes AD this rumor comes up & BC changes AD about every other year depending on which parent has the influence to put their kid as a certain position or if the AD has a snow cone business. Who in their right minds would want to go to BC especially if you have to wear red. (Joke).

    B)  Bigger OL comment. Have you looked at Franklins/Belleville/LH offensive line stat? I saw multiple  kids on there over 6-1 plus.
Who in their right mind don’t think you need size period. 🙄

    C). 1 Dimensional Offense Comment.
If you think a 1 dimensional offense is the way to go then I’m not wasting data debating you. LH was completely demoralized & demolished by PNG last year. Sure they scored on the first few plays in the game but when PNG adjusted LH couldn’t get a first down after that.
I heard a stat that LH had 8 passing attempts the entire year. They then threw the ball down by 28 in the fourth. Guess what. INT!  I think they had 2 INT with 3 attempts.

Your right, I’m pretty sure Franklin OL averages 5’-6” 150 lbs  I was watching the WOS/Beeville game. Beeville has some pretty big kids on the OL  #99 was murdering kids straight up

my point is you need to be able to throw the ball when the run isn’t working. Not preparing for that is my issue. How in the heck do you blow teams out of the water during the season by 30+ points & you never ever practice during the game for game type situation in Passing. That’s absolutely inexcusable.

im definitely not advocating for Orangefield to run 5 wide the entire time. What I am asking about is when Orangefield (LH/Franklin) was up on Buna (an opponent) why not throw the Dang Ball?????  So that the kids can have some game time experience throwing and catching in a GAME. Everyone looks like Randy Moss & Joe Montana vs the scout team.

if you believe sticking with what works only & not having a viable option for when it doesn’t work then I agree to disagree.

if you don’t think that’s a sensible offensive scheme then your right & every college & pro team is wrong. Dallas & the Chief needs someone like you on their coaching staff. This is a good Good Time to say Good Grief!

    over and out.

    embarrassing.

    In 2,000% agree.

how was that 1 dimensional offense last night working for them.

even though OF Is the bigger school in the district they don’t have the size on the OL to continue this Slot T mafia Offense.

when they do pass the OL is still in the 4 point stance….  Zero pass blocking abilities for the OL. They are beaten off the snap of the ball.

we shall see what happens with all these rumors.

Smalley great guy and coach and has done a great job at OF.

Why so negative on Prouse? Your kids play for him?

Based on the last 10 years, 1 dimensional offense have zero success in football. You may win enough games to place top 4 in district but not in playoffs.

I won’t support one & done. Orangefield needs more than that.

  13. 17 hours ago, PlayActionPass said:

Yes, unless expectations have gotten out of hand in Orangefield I don't see any reason to leave.

Would hate to see him leave, He's been a good role model to my kids.  He does practice his convictions on the sidelines.

What exceptions are you talking about? To be top 4 in a 6 team district.

Peevey - Not leaving LCM/  He's got a stable base of athletes coming in and up.

Prouse would be a DEFINITELY NO in my book.

    Yes

It’s the head to head games between the 3 teams and not total district games??

    so
    Kirbyville has 6 points

    EC has 36 points

    Orangefield has O

so Orangefield can’t give up 6 points in two game & must win one of the two

if they lose to KV then they have to lose by less than 6?????
