    I will take the bait....what have you seen from Kennedale to make you think that they will beat WOS.  This game is a couple of weeks down the road but I did see your predictions preseason and was just wondering what your reasoning is.  We are all entitled to an opinion, just curious.

    You guys have to remember that personnel dictates what you can do offensively.  The slot T is a great offense for teams like BC, Vidor and Orangefield.  Why?  Because you are not going to "out-athlete" the West Orange Starks of the world.  Your best chance is ball control, keep it away from them and execute.  BC didn't do that tonight and probably can't.

     But spreading the field brings speed as the key component and sorry, you lose there 100 times out of 100.  I know BC has a few kids who are relatively fast but you do not have anyone on the same planet as KJ Miller, Shaw, etc.  They simply made the opponents look like they were running with lead boots.  

    Sometimes your ceiling is simply being a playoff team.  And all you can do is your best.  Unless Steve Worster finds the fountain of youth, BC isn't going to be a deep playoff team in sports that don't involve a bat.  And that's not a slam on BC.  You guys are WAYYY ahead of where you were a couple of years ago.  And should continue to improve.  But let's not take a blowout against one of the best teams in the state and think you have to reinvent the wheel...

    I agree.  But many of the programs that run this...the coach never changes the offense.  Rather than adapt to the players talent, the players are molded to the coaching philosophy.

    WOS is awesome and I'm not sure it's crazy to say they're the best team in all of Texas. Jack Dallas is great. Hats off to a great program. 

    I have argued this with my friends that are fans of other teams that do the same thing.  In my opinion if you run an offense like this, you are being very short sighted.  Sure you might go 8-2 but you have mortgaged the farm on winning some ball games and have put the ultimate prize out of reach.  My best friend growing up went to LCM and during the "good" years I would tell him as soon as they run into a team that can stop the run, the book is closed.  That was the mid to late 90s.  In 2000 WOS saw Friendswood and ultimately Ennis running more wide open offenses and it seems about that time that the offensive landscape as a whole has changed.  We have seen the more successful programs in the state have a spread or at least a more balanced attack (there are exceptions to the rule).  

    Anyway....just agreeing with your post.  I would like to see those teams cultivate their athletes talent to give them more of a chance.

    Yes they have.  WOS has had 2 All Pro DBs in the last 20 years with Kevin Smith and Earl Thimas.  There is anothther young Mustang playing for Nick Saban that has a good chance of playing on Sunday's as well.  

    You seem very knowledgable so I'm not trying to challenge what you say.  Those guys are the most prominent but a couple others have made it to the NFL as well.

    There are several times where teams have had success running the ball against WOS.  Giddings, Brookshire, Coldspring, Jasper (2013) to name a few.  All of these are more the exception than the rule.  I do think this years version of the WOS defense is very well suited for stopping or at least slowing down a very good running team.  Enough to put them in passing situations.

    I think that I am gathering that if BC barely beats WOS, then they handed it to WOS.  If WOS wins by one, then it is a bit of a let down....and lastly if WOS runs the table on them, then they are not being good sports.  

    If my interpretation is correct, then the first two scenarios are the burden that is beared when a team is a heavy favorite.  Such is life.  The last scenario in which WOS is accused of running up the score....neither team so far has complained.

    I will tell you this, if WOS wins by one...I won't be let down at all.  I bet there are many Mustang faithful that feel the same way.

    Bruce Lee once said that he wasn't scared of a man that knew 10,000 different kicks.... He was scared of a man that knew one kick, but had practiced it 10,000 times. We're going to run on WOS.  Believe that. BC wins this one in a dogfight. 

    BC needs to practice one kick 10,000 times this week during practice...and that one kick is the punt!!

    It will be a long night for BC if all they do is attempt to run the ball.  WOS has plenty of experience playing teams that run this offense, including playoff opponents that "ran it well".  What we saw from these teams is that once they got down by a few scores, they had to pass.  It has been said that BC could pass if they had to. The problem with passing when you have to....the defense knows you have to as well.

    Buddy, the next couple of years LCM had some talented teams with Curtis, Bo Louis and Jeremy Crosson but kind of underachieved.  Followed by Chris Omey at QB in '97 and that is the last year I recall them being pretty good.

    Slow down with the all time mess??  "If he plays college ball he will be made a Wes Welker".  Wow....Kyler Murray isn't exactly living up to college hype but can anyone deny what he did on the high school field?  I'm in no way comparing the two but he doesn't have to do anything at the next level to be appreciated at the high school level.

    The poster said he was one of the best gamers of all time.  Did not call him the best player of all time, the best player at his position or the best player at his school....simply one of the best gamers of all time.  To back up that statement....Jack was thrust into starting duty in 2014 as a sophomore in week one for circumstances out of his control...he simply, as a gamer lead the Mustangs to the state title game.  The following year, "the gamer" lead a team that returned 5 starters to a championship.  It doesn't matter how tall he is, how fast he runs, what the PA News writes and has to correct....he is a gamer!!  Those things should only weigh in his corner since he overcame odds.  The statement was "gamer" nothing else....but the final chapter has not been written on Jack Dallas and I can't wait to read it!! 

    Go Mustangs 2016!!  Everyone is anointing the title but the true fans know that nothing is given...it will be earned.  Go earn every win!!

    l love a good cliffhanger!!  Do you know the date and time in which your prediction will be posted?  I don't want to miss it.  In fact, if it is after work hours several of us are talking about meeting up at someone's house and all reading it together.  Then who knows how long we will stay up talking about it?!  If it is during work hours then a conference call will have to do.

WO-S always tries to play a strong pre-district and there is a reason for it.  That is why looking back, the  likes of PN-G, Jasper, Bay City, Silsbee, Newton (who also isn't scared to play up), Central, Giddings, Foster and the list could go on....show up on the schedule.  Yes, we might take some lumps along the way but it only makes you better.  Anything worth doing is worth doing well.  As a little bit of history nerd, it reminds me of this excerpt from John F. Kennedy's speech at Rice in regards to the space race.

    "But why, some say, the moon?  Why choose this as our goal?  And they may ask why climb the highest mountain?  Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic?  Why does Rice play Texas?

    "We choose to go to the moon.  We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal  will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win....."

     

     

  13. I think it's time us WOS fans look at the whole picture. #1) it should be a great game. No matter what the mightymouse (or whatever his wife calls him) thinks, both teams should be at their best to win. Only one team will be able to swim in this cement "pound" of victory #2) as long as mightymouth is running his crumb catcher it means no one is in immediate need of a taxi!!
