This is what people mean when they say culture change.  Maybe Todd Dodge can help out Nederland boys track program. Or at least get the kids to show up and get organized work outs in…..

It was. Very very very conservative game for PNG, both offense and defense.  By-and-large just run up the middle all game long, until they broke one for a 30-yd TD in OT. WOS defense line finally got wore down, basically.

Article from “DFW Inside High School Sports “  The PI call was correct, SOC cliff had time to come back but could not overcome PNGs defence.

That was the game where Shea broke his foot. Conner came in early in the second quarter, if I recall correctly. If that hadn’t happened, I don’t think that game would have been so close.

Yes, time to move forward. One last thing. If its indeed true that the Head coaches of other sports  at Nederland are undercutting football and or other sports,  maybe it's time they too are dealt with accordingly. A statewide search is on to hire a Head Football Coach -AD. Internal issues imo should be dealt with Now rather than left to the incoming Leader. Whatever steps are needed to cleanse and unify the cause should be taken now rather then thrown in the lap of the next man up.....jmo

And even if they aren’t, it might not be the school district footing the bill.

Coach Dodge was the only one who advised the hiring committee appointed by the school board that reviewed resumes and conducted interviews, the latter being comprised of various members of the PN-GISD administration. Several of those administrators are PN-G alumni, one of whom played on the ‘75 state championship team.
A dedicated PN-G alum from out of town (not me, to be clear) arranged first contact between the PN-GISD superintendent and Coach Dodge after Coach Faircloth’s departure, eventually resulting in the consulting contract. There’s no question Dodge’s involvement brought many qualified applicants to the table, and Dodge’s recommendation was key in the selection of Coach Joseph.
It was a team effort, and everyone involved in the hiring process, whether formally or informally, deserves commendation for their contribution.

Here we go. Some forked tongues run their mouth about PNG hiring Todd Dodge for his recommendation . Turned out pretty good didn’t it.

On principle, I don’t think it’s right. It doesn’t just cover up holding. It can also disguise pass interference, horse collars and possibly face mask penalties or others I’m not thinking of. There are potential safety issues. At a minimum, doing so evinces a clear intent to obfuscate illegal activity. I think it should be illegal. In fact, I would support a rule requiring the home team to wear black gloves, if any, and the visiting team to wear white gloves, if any. Problem solved.
Having said that, if there isn’t going to be a rule against the practice, fair’s fair.

There is little on God’s green earth I would enjoy more than watching PN-G blow out Cedar Park or Austin Vandegrift.
That said, it makes absolutely no financial sense to do that, and the fans will have to travel enough the next few seasons as is.

    Taso and UIL response

Fitch explained, "TASO has a very rigorous Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy."
"Simply living within a school's attendance zone in itself is not considered a conflict. Imagine if every official living in the DISD attendance zone was excluded from officiating any DISD game," Fitch wrote.
"This would significantly dilute the pool of very qualified officials. After our inquiries, we have determined that the Line Judge has not violated any of the items in the TASO COI (Conflict of Interest) policy," Fitch noted.

University Interscholastic League Athletic Director Ray Zepeda responded to Elizalde in a separate letter.
"It would be impossible to preclude someone from officiating a game for a school simply because they live in that city or town," Zepeda said.
"For example, officials that live in the city of Dallas called four out of the five rounds of SOC's playoff contests prior to the 2023 state championship game," Zepeda noted.
"In conclusion, the game between Dallas South Oak Cliff and Port Neches-Groves was a very well played, well coached, competitive game that featured two very storied programs in Texas high school football," Zepeda said.

I would fly Mark Stoops in and then meet him on the tarmac, tell him we’ve changed our mind, and tell him it’s not him, it’s us.  If you have a chance to troll a stoops, you take it.

If Lanning is really out of the race (I'm still skeptical), I like the idea of a DeBoer hire, provided he finds a better defense than what he fields at Washington.
There have been whispers of Glenn Schumann for the HC job. I find that prospect intriguing, but he's not my first choice. I think Schumann would make an outstanding DC under DeBoer. I would also be very comfortable with Scott Cochran in that role.

PNG hasn’t lost to Jasper or Silsbee in years. DeSoto, Carthage, and Aledo are a different story.  But I’m confident we would have beaten Carthage last year.
