Trump Effect
Porter and one other reacted to SmashMouth for a topic
Exactly. Here's my go to when I want to change it up. Big Daddy's Beans (Yes, they call me "Big Daddy") Pound of pinto beans, anasazi beans (learned about these from @tvc184) or red beans. Pound of ground beef Pound of jalapeno sausage (I use my deer jalapeno cheese sausage) Large onion - yellow or white Can of rotel Pinto bean seasoning, tony's or some other season salt Garlic powder Black pepper 3 bay leaves Cook it like you cook beans normally - on the stove, instant pot, crock pot etc. Serve with some rice, cornbread and real butter. I have several bean variations, but this one is real good with the jalapeno sausage...2 points -

Told y’all when the Iran conflict started, you’d have to have a regime change. There’s no deal that’s worth the paper it’s written on to be made with those in charge in Iran right now. I warned about boots on the ground. I was told verbatim “Trump don’t play” when I said it would be longer than was stated, as these things evolve, and have a mind of their own. I stated the ceasefire was a bad idea. If going in, go all in. Don’t tie our military’s hands behind their backs. Politicians lose the U.S. conflicts—not the military. We’ve lost the momentum, and haven’t gained enough to offset. There’s a reason you get public support for a conflict. Trump didn’t, and here we are… If Trump was going to listen to someone, he should’ve listened to Keane instead of whatever political advisor is telling him about the polls. This ‘another 2-3 days’ crap is getting old. Either you know what, or get off the pot. The other Gulf States hearing he was going back in, and asking him to delay? What kind of crap is that? How do they supposedly know what’s being discussed in the secure situation room? It’s either another load of BS, or we have a serious problem. Sun Tzu: There is no country that has ever benefited from prolonged war. (All of our military leadership used to have to read Sun Tzu.) As Larry the Cable Guy says, “Get Er Done!”1 point

Government overreach and socialism are my two biggest fears. Trump is definitely against socialism. So, I appreciate that. (Although, I'm definitely against his involving us in Intel--which is straight up socialism--even if it can be kind of construed as national security if stretched.) But, he's not good on government overreach, and he just campaigned and helped eliminate one of the staunchest fighters for limited government and free markets. Same token, Gallrein is a very pro 2nd Amendment defender--which definitely fits my personal view--is a veteran, and a farmer. Those are 3 things we have in common. I don't know his fiscal ideas, and that's usually one of my main criteria. So, we'll see. Maybe, he can help put more focus on the farmers. They're under some stress right now.1 point

I think the guy had a pretty good take for a MAGA supporter. I just wonder what will be left when Trump is not the face, and someone is needed to fight the socialists. Right now, he’s doing it with populism. Not sure someone else can carry that load the same way. The socialists are coming. And they’re coming hard and fast.1 point

Just something that popped up. I thought it was interesting in that politics is a dirty business. People sling dirt all the time. Trump can’t do that. People change their views, even parties, Trump can’t change his mind. All in all, it’s just a “get Trump” argument. Trump did something people don’t like…..shocker. Massie was not fired by Trump, he was voted out by Kentuckians.1 point

I don’t know that he’s pathetic. But, he definitely lied about Massie because of a personal vendetta. Again, he personally endorsed Massie in 2022. So, it’s a big, fat lie to say Massie was the worst ever. Unless he previously endorsed the worst ever. Yes. Some of the lies about the SAVE Act among other things were pretty blatant lies. Certain people also repeated them on this site, and spread them around without fact-checking.1 point

2026 Astros
rupert3 reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
Astros pitching is improving. In the first 30 games of season, Houston had a 6.2 team ERA. Last 20 games the ERA has been 4.2. Two run difference in ERA. That's a good trend. Now offensively, Houston was averaging a little over 5 runs a game in the first 30 games. In the last 20, run production has been 3.4 per game.1 point -

Like his Dad, I'm not sure Rand Paul cares. He usually votes along with Republicans anyway in critical legislation if they need his vote. But, he does voice concerns and bring out issues. He's definitely not anywhere near aligned with the Socialists. Similar to me, he's the exact opposite. Rand Paul is a true small government, fiscal conservative, personal liberty, free market guy. We need people like him just like we need the Freedom Caucus. We need those voices. The current path is unsustainable, and everyone knows it. IMO, Trump would be better off focusing on Murkowski and Collins and listening a little more to Paul. But, Trump is going to have to support Collins. He can't lose the Senate seat. Now, he has a distinct possibility of losing Maine AND Texas. Even Bob Price of Breitbart Texas has stated that—according to their research—Paxton will have trouble with Talarico in the General.1 point

In a primary run-off...yes. But, Trump knew that as well. He only wants to put his brand on something he thinks is a pretty sure winner. Ego. But, it's also pretty short-sighted. As are many of his policies and actions. He's transactional.1 point

Lie for most. Mother Jones for sure didn’t. Nor did NYT. (Not going to look the rest up and do a little research when those two are already proven lies.) Mother Jones just wrote a scathing article about him last week about being a pain in the $$$. But, you know who DID endorse Massie in 2022? Donald Trump1 point

Well I guess I could flip that question and say show me where all the taxes that are being charged are spent in a justifiable manner and are not be misused . Kinda of a vague open ended question that has countless variables. I would say a good start would be stop spending more than you take in , kinda like most families and businesses do. Don’t forget the tax that is not even voted on - Inflation - for spending more than you take in and devaluing the dollar.1 point -

High Island and UIL?????
Just an old Coach reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
I have zero problem with HI moving from UIL to TCAL. Got to do what's best. Also, HI has really no reason to consolidate with any other ISD. They operate in the black and just passed a bond to improve facilities on all fronts. Are they experiencing growth problems? Yes. But there are many school districts existing in the state of Texas that have fewer students than HI. It certainly isn't necessary to participate in UIL for a school to exist. High Island ISD has it's purpose for it's own community. That's all that matters.1 point
