Out of curiosity....

Recommended Posts

I am aware that there is a forum that this should probably be listed in other than this one.  Hardly any traffic there though, so in hopes of getting an answer here I go.

Scrolling the UIL sports page checking out state champions in each sport I saw something that confused me.

Wrestling a 5A & 6A sport here in Texas and Argyle is 4A .

That said, how did Argyle have a 170 lb. boys state champ in 2020-21 ?

You can compete in the upper classification. All depends on the sport and what local schools participate.

East Chambers is 3A but they compete in a 4A soccer district.

This is going back many years but before it became more popular, I am fairly certain that Nederland was in 4A but competed in 5A soccer. That was back before they had 6A.

OK.  thanks.  I had not thought about it that way.

Ya know, people can say what they want about Argyle kids having parents with money but they excel basically at everything the UIL offers students to participate in.
