  1. FINAL RESULTS

Not one team went undefeated on the weekend with a lot of great competition. We had overtime games, buzzer beater finishes and a great atmosphere of small town basketball. 27 games in 3 days with every team playing 5 GG guarantee grind and the four teams that competed in their bracket championship got 6. Coldspring-Oakhurst led by tournament MVP Luke Monroe was the best team all weekend with a very athletic Woodville pushing them to their limits. Overall, it was a huge success with great food, great referees and great atmosphere.  Attached are flyers with the results and All tournament Selections.

  2. @TigerAlumni85 I saw it coming the more he started to win.  Craziest environment I have seen in sports in a while.  When he lost it seemed like parents were happy, but the more he won the madder people got.  The main reason is Bethea was hired after the principal who is a hometown girl, and she is the superintendent's friend.  People from there have told me that she wants to try and hire her brother to take over who is certified in the same subject area as Bethea.

Bethea took a 6-win 4th place team to a district championship and 15 wins.  However, he was told she wanted to go in a different direction with no reason or justification.  Politics in a small town can suck for sure.  I am glad I retired before I got into this profession, so this salary pays for my vacations.  Bethea will land on his feet but sucks for him because he did a good job with those young men.

  3. @whsalum I'm rarely suprised but that game suprised me last night.  I was there with my dad, brother in law and family friend and we all left scratching our heads.  I will say this betting against Harvey is like betting against Tom Brady.  I don't recommend doing either.  Huffman is going to be a hard out because everyone understands and embraces their role and that's hard to get young men/parents to buy into these days.  Hopefully we see a Huffman and Silsbee matchup.

  4. I’m on my Golfcation since Huffman sent me home.  Going to play 9 in the morning, watch daughter play 2 softball games and then head to Cleveland to take this game in.

This is a pick’em for sure but I do like the matchups favoring Lumberton.  Played both teams twice, Lumberton with my JV one of those times.  Personally think Lumberton is going to win this if McClure can outplay Harvey.

Lumberton has the better role player IMO but Harvey vs McClure is what will be the difference.  Whoever’s star plays better wins.  I’m going to pick Lumberton by 3, going down to the wire.

  6. No one hates the atmosphere of HJ more than me.  They beat my girls team 3 times last year to include a trip to regionals.

As the coach that is trying to build a winning culture you want an excited crowd.  This gives the youngsters growing up in the community excitement to play basketball.  Which is important because my first year coaching girls I only received 2 from my junior high.

As a dad I have 4 daughters and have coached one of the top softball teams in the country with kids flying in to play for the team from different states.  We kept our stands loud and proud even against the weaker teams.  I got criticized for years doing it and people asked my why?  I never answered them but will tell it on here.  The reason why is my kids loved it.

I’m here to motivate my players and team.  I always want a clean game and no one to get hurt but other than that I don’t care about my competitions feelings that’s their coaches and fans job.

HJ is getting out of their program what they’re putting into it and good for them.  I’m trying to do the same here at mine.  Great job Fogo and Sneed I still don’t like either one of you.
