As I morph from old man to curmudgeon, let me share some poo.  Out last night and ran into an old friend.  He made a remark, “I hate to get out because people are crazy”.  Why bring it up?  My wife & I have been complaining about that, so at least others see it.  Drive like nuts.  Zero manners.  And cell phones - good grief.  I contemplate the possible suicide rate if all the cell phones were taken away.
Now, since my 300 or so TV stations are so bad, we were watching Dr. Pimple Popper.  Lady had a large marble size cyst in her hair.  She was concerned about having a bald spot up there when the cyst was removed.  Ordinarily, I could understand her concern, but this lady had a lip ring and a nose ring.  Heck, she could be bald and I wouldn’t notice it with Bubba’s Scrap Iron hanging out of every orifice.  What is it that makes a person want to disfigure themselves?   Guess I’m just getting old(er).

WOSgrad got a reaction from CardinalBacker in PA NEWS: Inika McPherson shares heartbreak of being passed over for Olympic team
Could you tell me where you found it?  I have tried to search for that since I first heard about Inika's story a couple of days ago to make some sense as to how a person who finishes 2nd at an track event in a clearly labeled U.S. Olympic Trials, finds herself off of the 3 women's U.S. Olympic high jump squad.
I am trying to understand as this kind of shakes the thought that I had that sports like track and field were the purest form of sport.  No judge or no referee really necessary.  If someone started too quick, everybody knew it.  If a thrower didn't stay inside the circle or the throw was out of bounds everyone knew it.
The person who ran the fastest, jumped the highest or the longest or threw the longest within those clear parameters was the winner.
Using a "criterion" to determine a qualifier which seems to, at least in some sense, disregard the on field results of the U.S. Olympic Trials kinda puts a kink in that.

I remember that the posts in this thread are the first posts that @Trufan has posted in this forum in over 5 years (5/16/2015).  Six years older than the two "agitators" the you branded posted in this forum ( @2wedge in May of this year; @SmashMouth in February).
I do remember that the ax that trufan has to grind with Cornel Thompson has been carried by him for a long time. And that everybody who dared to disagree with him was dismissed as having a blind allegiance to Coach Thompson (much like he did here). And which I am sure that at some point soon I will be accused of.
I do remember that any issue with a Mustang African-American player he took the side of the player, any issue with a white player he cast doubt on.....heck he even panned Jack Dallas.
So I remember that he has an issue with Cornel Thompson.
Is it racial? I do know of a faction, small but loud, who opposed Cornel Thompson's hiring simply due to the fact that he was a white man.  I do know that he tried to infer that there was racism within the WO-C ISD athletic department.  Mind you, this is a district in which the superintendent of schools is African-American, the president of the school board is African-American, the African-American members of the school board outnumber the whites on the school board 5-2. The principal at West Orange-Stark is African-American.  Yet, none of them have registered this complaint....and with the current state of media, you know we would know about it if they did!  I do know that the "about the kids" has been abandoned in favor lamenting that "blacks can only get jobs in Beaumont, Port Arthur or Orange" talking about "head coaches"......not basketball head coaches, as his attribution of color would be wrong, not ADs as the number of ADs would be wrong, but a ratio that EXACTLY matches the racial makeup of HEAD FOOTBALL COACHES in this area.
So, yeah, I think it is entirely reasonable to infer his posts have nothing to do with other sports and that has a lot to do with the fact that a white coach is head football coach at West Orange-Stark.

I stand corrected. Coach Ricky Ryan would not be happy with me.  I did make one revision to your notes, though, in 2014 both WO-S and Newton were state finalists

I figured that if he wanted to have a discussion about facts, we needed actual facts, not narratives wrapped up as "facts."
He also "conveniently left out the fact of Kountze (72.8% white) has a black head coach AND AD in Duane Joubert and Kirbyville (79.9% white) has a black head coach in Travis Williams.

Coaching stability  is a key ingredient for success in any sport. A good coach that will stay can build a good program in most cases.

3 out of 4 "black" schools had black coaches? Let's see, West Brook had Andre Boutte (black), United had David Green (black), Port Arthur Memorial had Alden Lewis (black).  Only WO-S had a white coach in D.J. Wilson.  And that will change to 4 of 4 in '21-22 with Chris Castille taking over.
Of your second list, at least 3 of those schools: Newton (Jeff Parks), Hamshire-Fannett (Tigee Rideaux) and Silsbee (Joe Sigler) had black head coaches.

Ah, they're all used to hearing fans of non-football sports blame a football program for lack of success.
And most of the WO-S fans there also know the reason for most of these folks wanting Cornel Thompson to step down has absolutely nothing to do with the state of the other sports in the West Orange-Cove CISD.
And that, my friends, is the real elephant in the room.

I think the NCAA is about as corrupt as it can possibly be but I also think there will be some wild stories in the future when these young guys start getting crazy money. I just think back to what I would have done with crazy money at 18-22 years old.
