CC is always looking forward to a match up with Hardin ! Always a good match .. and gets you ready for district . Hardins line will be the deciding factor this season again though I’m afraid .. we are gonna be on the small side on the D LINE.. what will help CC, is the experience on the line we bring back .. and the speed . Emmanuel foreman will be a force in the secondary… he will be a sophomore this year , first year to start on varsity ! He came in last year as a freshman on varsity at the tail end of the season .. anxious to see if he will be a head hunter like his daddy was ….. Eric foreman ! Former QB/SAFETY for the 02 CC state team .. he is starting at safety on defense , curious to see if coach Ratliff starts him at QB as well .. or at least brings him in some for a wildcat look.. his daddy was hard to stop on those play action bootleg passes ! If he didn’t have anyone open , he’d take off n be gone ! same #… same height… let’s see if he has that same DOG in em !! 💪💙🏈🦴😏

Call me old school, but I like it. If he can use those for a year or two to build culture in Jasper to mimic culture at WOS, he could do real well. We know Jasper produces athletes, if the formula is right, and those athletes come out for football, it may be fun to see. Either way, somebody has to let me know when tickets go on sale for that Jasper/WOS matchup this year. I'm going to be making that drive.

There is an unlimited number of examples with coaches "winning with good players, losing with bad players". Is Bill Belichick a good coach? He seems to be struggling at NC and ultimately flamed out in NE after he lost certain players. There is another saying that 1000+ famous coaches have made as well (since you like quotes): "It is about Jimmies and Joes, not Xs and Os".

So glad to hear this. That dude is special and has been one of my favorites to watch over the past two seasons. I wouldn't put it past him to play there a year or two and end up at a Lamar or SFA eventually via the portal as he develops. I played with a couple of guys years ago at ETBU who did that exact same thing. Showed up to ETBU scruffy, worked their asses off and finished their careers at SFA. One of them is coaching Baytown Lee right now. Trevor if you are reading this......I'm rooting for you buddy.

I actually think he will be good wherever he ends up. Has all the intangibles and genetic stuff you can't coach. The rest will come with higher development, which he will start to get this season at BH.

Curious: You don't think much of PNG's staff either?
-
Early enrollee at McNeese. Getting good marks from coaches through the spring. Barrier will be just fine.

Ok, although i don't agree -- I do respect your opinion.
-
This was borrowed from a PNG website: "Need to go back and watch what the 1975 OL did against the largest Texas School Classification teams (Now 6A D1) against the largest Houston teams. Of Course OL Coach Butch Troy was the man in PNG OL history. I don’t recall any OL players getting a College D1 offer. Ace Reeves would have been a PNG giant OL back in 1975. 200 lbs got the job done acting as a cohesive unit." This was when they were playing for and winning a State Title. Coaching does matter!!
-
Yes, they would look different. Would be running a different offense and defense. Does that mean the players all of a sudden become bigger and faster?!?! NOOOOOOOOOO! Does that mean more wins?!?! NOOOOOOOOOO!
-
Going to quote Bill Pacrells, an NFL HOF coach. Pretty sure that saying does not relate to Vidor High School Football... geez. You need to stick to individual sports cause team sports are way above your understanding and comprehension.
-
OK, honest question and your honest opinion: If in the past 27 years, if Vidor had PNG's head coach and staff -- do you think Vidor would look dramatically different?
-
A famous coach once said: Your record as a coach will tell you who you are as a coach. So, is it always the coach (usually) and always the player's fault (usually not). But I'd say over 90% is coaching. It's hard to argue that through 27 years, Vidor has had 2 coaches with losing records. Again, never had the athletes?! But, you are right -- nothing is 100%! Thank you for your opinion!

So you are saying it's never ever the players when a team loses a game or has a losing season. No matter what it's always on the coaches. Regardless of any situation or circumstance, it will always be the fault of the coaches when a team is not successful. I believe you are stating opinion and not fact. Which is perfectly fine but don't claim it as fact. You posting a coaching record is a fact but doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. I think several folks on here have given you examples of a coach who won a state championship but overall was not very successful. Like you always say, your entitled to your opinion but not your own facts.

Not the players huh?!?! So, when Vidor was playing against players like James Brown, Leeland McElroy, Tiki Hardeman, Adam Dunn, Clint Stoerner and a ton of other players... Vidor had a chance if they had better coaching?!?! Or when Vidor's heaviest offensive lineman is 200lbs playing across from D-lineman that avg. 250... not the players, huh? Or when Vidor's fastest player runs a high 4.7 and their opponent has multiple players run 4.6 or better... not the player's, huh? Better coaching would have those players running faster and putting on more weight and would of had them competing against players who had great high school, college, and pro careers, huh?!?!
-
I know. 😎
-
Just was pointing out where Vidor’s problem is with facts. It’s not the players!
-
Sorry about that... it was not directed at you. I should not have quoted you. That was more or less a post for people who think they know everything about Vidor because they read a stat line or look up some historical data.
-
Thanks, you kinda made my point somewhere in there.

I've watched Vidor football for almost 40 years. Played for Vidor (in the 90s) during the 5A days and was lucky enough to experience the drop down to 4A. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of Vidor football. I've seen Vidor outmatched talent-wise and outcoached. I've seen Vidor beat teams that they shouldn't have beaten, and I've seen Vidor lose to teams that they should have beaten by 3+ scores. I've seen Vidor with size on the OL & DL, I've seen Vidor with fast skill position players and not so fast skill position players, I've seen Vidor QBs throw for over a 1,000 yards (was lucky enough to play for a QB that threw for over a 1,000), and I've seen Vidor QBs not even come close to throwing for a couple, few hundred yards. But one thing that Vidor has always been great at is playing with passion, determination, and fearlessness. Just about every Friday night, it's Vidor against everyone... the team they are playing, their fans, or casual posters on a message forum. And to those people who watch Vidor once a year or once every couple of years and they know any and everything about Vidor football... you can ! And to those who think just because they coach know more about Vidor and Vidor football... you can politely too!!!! GO Pirates... It's ALWAYS a great day to be a Pirates!

I've seen Vidor win when they've had a wave of talent come through, funny how that works. 🤷🏾♂️
