Gun safety should be a requirement whether you are in an open carry state or not. I agree to a point. I don’t believe gun safety should be taught in school just the same I don’t think sex should be taught in schools. Abstinence should be taught at home like everything else. Is it gun accidents that are causing the problem? I was raised around guns. My Grandfather, who us grandkids adored, would be a bad grandpa in todays atmosphere. He lived in the country, and there was a loaded gun in dang near every room. They were considered and treated likes tools, not weapons. At 9 or 10 years old, I could take the .22 rifle or 410 shotgun in the woods by myself. That was after much supervision making sure I could handle it safely. I think if you are an open carry state, they should teach gun safety in public schools. Heck, why not teach gun safety in all 50 states......Start in 5th grade and have refreshers every other year.
