Did I hear correctly that the Nederland freshman team had their first loss last night against PA Memorial?  Just curious because it surprises me.  Is PA Memorial's freshman group really good?  Nederland have an off night?  Or what?

You heard correctly. PAM obviously played well enough to win, but Ned freshmen played sloppy, way too many uncaused turnovers and missed shots. Just one of those nights. PAM only had 8 players and Ned had 15, and coach E tried to get as many players as possible playing time. Maybe this loss will help refocus the boys.

It happens sometimes.  It's also very difficult to play that many kids.

I have not seen PA Memorial's freshman group.  I did see a PA team that age in one of Coach English's summer tournaments.  They played very physical (basically fouled so much that the refs couldn't possibly call everything).  Couldn't shoot well, but pounded the boards and scored mostly on fast breaks and put-backs.  Wonder if it's the same group of kids.
