Will it be Orangefield vs Lumberton in the Championship game?
Orangefield vs. PA Memorial in the Championship game.  Before you people say this will be a cakewalk, Memorial is much improved.  Evidently they have some move-ins and they have held their own this weekend.  Memorial swings it well and they have shown glimses of playing quality defense.  Don't know who Memorial has left to pitch, but I'm sure that Coach McFarlin and Coach McKellar will pull something out of the hat.  OF will probably go with Felts.

No. 4 Bobcats keep rolling

The Orange Leader

ORANGEFIELD — Before its late game Thursday night against Tyler All-Saints, the Orangefield Bobcats had played three games which lasted five innings each.

The 3-0 Bobcats first steam rolled Liberty 16-1 before taking down Buna 11-1.

It was much the same Thursday at the Orangefield Baseball Tournament as the No. 4 Bobcats put a 14-1 hurting on the Beaumont Central Jaguars.

Corey Huckabay is feeling right at home in Orange and White as he scored three of the four times he came to the plate with a single and a RBI triple.

Quinton Evans notched the win on the mound with four innings of work giving up one run on two hits with no walks and six strike outs.

The lone Central run came in the first inning as the first two batters hit singles. It was the last hits Evans gave up.

Texas A&M-bound Jace Statum scored twice with a double and also was a part of the best defensive play of the day.

Statum made a running grab in the top of the fifth and then turn to fire back to first to double up a Central baserunner.

Evans helped himself in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer which also scored Chase Angelle.

Orangefield scored five in the first and then scored five more in the third.

Derrick Evans had a two-RBI triple in the third and he also scored twice in the game.

Jonathan Deramus scored twice after hitting a double and walking two times in the game. Kyle Fontenot also scored twice.

Jacob Felts picked up a late RBI in the game after not being able to get much to hit much of the night. Felts did his part though on defense by catching a runner stealing in the first inning.

The Port Arthur Memorial Titans notched two wins Thursday with a 6-5 win over Silsbee and a 12-7 victory over East Chambers. Kirbyville defeated Deweyville 9-3, Lumberton shut out Hamshire-Fannett 3-0 before losing to Beaumont Kelly 6-3.

Deweyville will face Silsbee at 9 a.m. today at Buna High School while Hamshire-Fannett and Central will tangle at 9 a.m. at Orangefield. Kirbyville will face East Chambers at 11:15 a.m. at Buna while Buna and Memorial will face off at 6 p.m.

    • Head coach Brad Jeffcoat will be leaving the coaching business. He has taken an industrial sales job.  Coach Jeffcoat has really enhanced the basketball program at LC-M. He has done really well. This is a very good job opening. I expect a promotion to happen here and not an outside hire.   On a personal note. I will miss my friend Brad in the gyms. Always enjoyed my time talking with him. Good luck Coach on your new job!!
    • The forecast for Huntsville looks brutal for this game. Houston TV says 3"-5" of rain this evening there. Hope they are wrong and you get this in though.
    • Did BU and WB have their Spring Football games yet?? I know Lufkin had theirs earlier this week.
    • 1. Trump has been the president before, and you're saying he has a chance of winning again due to Biden's poor performance. And you're agreeing that he's a turd sandwich (fair). Wouldn't it stand to reason then that Trump must not have had a poor performance during his presidency (since that's the only reason you're saying Biden would lose) which refutes your claim that the only reason Trump stands a chance is due to Biden's poor performance? You would have been better served to say that the only reason DJT may lose the presidency is because his personality is unappealing to many (turd sandwich). I'll take effective over feelings 8 days out of 7. 2. In my opinion, the major reason Biden has any shot at winning is TDS, a country that is slowly but surely being indoctrinated to socialistic thinking and a left-wing media bias that won't report what's truly happening. Definitely not going to win on the real issues. The real issues that are going to sink Biden: a. Wokeness and his unwillingness to stand up to it. He promised centrality, but instead took a hard left into oncoming traffic. b. Economy - go to the grocery store, and you'll see what I mean. c. Immigration - It's a dangerous free for all that is a huge national security risk, a personal safety risk, a health risk & an economic crisis for any city that has to take care of these illegal migrants. All to gain the Democrats millions of votes and control of the government basically forever. d. Energy - I could speak volumes, but you know what I mean. e. Crime and anti-LE sentiment - Turn on the news. f. Handling of COVID-19 - Biden did everything in his power to shut this country down short of martial law Get past the turd sandwich and do what's right for you, your family & the country as a whole.
