But in the case of the HJ/Silsbee game, the better team did win. ;D

I'm not so sure this will be the case if tu loses this game.
i'm positive that won't be the case if Baylor wins.
This is the same Baylor team that lost by 2 at Kansas just a few games back.

I hope for Baylor and the Big 12's sake they're ranked after this week's poll comes out. Big 12 proving again why they're one of the strongest conferences in every sport.

If overrated describes a team that has enough talent to win it all, but keeps playing under their potential and losing to teams they should beat, then I agree that it describes Texas as of late. Most basketball games are won down the stretch where FTs win or lose games. Texas didn't come through. I don't blame Brown for the loss, but you tend to count on 90% FT shooters when they get fouled late. These are the players you want the ball in their hands so that they are the ones to go to the line. It just didn't happen. Texas is too talented to have been in that situation anyway.

Big tournament still ahead.....

well put.  that freethrow hurt, but there were far bigger factors in the game that caused texas to lose.  J Brown was one of the ones that kept them in it and helped bring the back.  this was the best game i've seen J Brown play since early in the season against the cupcakes.

All of Texas' losses could have been wins with better free throw shooting:

Lost by 9 to KState and missed 13 free throws.  The 9 points are deceiving after late game fouls and desperation shots taken in the last 2 minutes.

Lost by 14 to UCONN missed 7 free throws that would have put them back into the game early.  That way they would not have been taking desperation 3's!! Also the fouls calls were 30-15 giving UCONN the BIG home court advantage!

Lost by three to Baylor but missed 12 free throws!!  Nuff said!

Teams have even went to hack-a-Texan basketball!  Memphis did what they did in Conference USA with Derrick Rose' team shooting the same percentage.  They lost 1 game in conference that year... But that wont work in the Big 12!!! Shoot bad free throws and you lose winnable games!

Unless a miraculous happens we will not make the sweet 16 shooting like this!

Coulda, woulda, shoulda. ::)

But I do agree with you short.

Keeping with this coulda woulda theme, tu shouldn't have defeated A&M.
AAW, you never try and discuss ways in which your team could better themselves? If so, you have to review the plays that were missed opportunities in order to correct them. Woulda, coulda, shoulda is something that outsiders interject on a thread, not about their team, in order to suggest whining. What has been discussed here is how FTs win or lose games, and how Texas has missed theirs down the stretch. Correcting these misses could well afford a few more victories, don't you think?

True or not? Unfortunately it's a game I missed. You won't hear woulda, shoulda, coulda from me. Did UT miss any down the stretch too?
Nope.
Here's a little more than nope. Ags missed 10 FTs and Texas missed 12. Ags missed 1 FT in OT and Texas missed 3. I don't see where the misses puts you ahead.

Thanks Baddog for explaining it to Aggs... Some folk wear blinders and he is the best at it!!! Schrene name should be AggieQuarterHorse!!  He is just antagonizing us, I wont fight back because I might get banned!! LMAO!!

I was not crying for the win or giving excuses, I was pointing out the obvious weaknesses.  I believe Texas can play with anyone and lose to anyone! Because you need to be able to contribute in all parts of the game.  I think free throw shooting for this team is the difference between a number 1 seed and a number 5 seed! And the difference between the final four and out in the 32!!!

    • Sure.  You reassign an employee and they leave voluntarily instead of being fired and being open to litigation.  The outcome is the same, but you are making my point.  The superintendent and AD and principal are all empowered to make personnel decisions.  Instead of accepting the decision made, you talk about lawyering up, no one else was reprimanded, railroad job.  I am old enough to remember when high school sports taught life lessons...accountability being chief among them.
    • I know absolutely nothing about the situation, but I do know head coaches of sports other than the AD have actual teaching assignments, and I know from my wife having worked in the sped department of multiple schools that it’s not uncommon at all for coaches to shirk those duties.  It could very well be that this was the case at BC.  Or not, I don’t know.  Just bringing this up to point out the fact that, although many coaches only want to worry about coaching, they generally have several other responsibilities at the school.  some of them neglect or ignore these duties entirely.  If he’s been written up for other issues before, it’s a dumb argument to say “he was punished for this and others were not”.  If he had a pile of write ups in his file and they did not then it makes sense that the punishments were different.
    • He wasn’t fired, he was reassigned and people get reassigned all the time. If he was actually fired, then you would have a point, but he wasn’t fired. Based on the information presented here no way this would stand if they fired him and he lawyered up.
    • I heard the assistant was going to get this job and assume it was referring to the old Vidor coach, Nate Smith.  I always thought he did more with less at Vidor and can't help but think he shares some responsibility in Vidor's recent success.
    • Classic Bridge City.  Always someone else's fault, refs/umpires cheated, AD with an agenda, yada, yada, yada.  As far as I can tell it's damn near impossible to get fired at these schools so when someone does get fired, it's usually something.  Drama at Bridge City is a constant.  The guy did a good job coaching basketball and I'm sure he'll continue that somewhere else.  Time to move on.
