Silsbee Eye's District Title

Recommended Posts

LOL!  I'm a DEFINITE NCAA Baseball fan as that is the ONLY sport in which Rice University (my alma mater) has excelled....  WO-S used to be pretty good back in the 1980's except we seemed to lose to powerhouse Brenham every year

Rivalry in the making?

Maybe in the same way UT views Rice as a rival...  except Silsbee has beaten WO-S one time more than Rice has beaten UT in the past 32 years.

wos87, you know your a closet baseball fan, never met a football fan who likes stats like you.

wos87, part of being a baseball fan is always knowing that spring training is around the corner and even though you lost 90 games you have hope.

Your two teams, WOS in FB and Rice in BB, you will never have that feeling.

Yea he's better tha even all the 5A players in the area, yea right.

Obviously you don't keep up with the rcruiting services.

Jeremy Johnson is the #8 ranked QB in the nation by Scout.com and #9 by Rivals. No other player in Southeast Texas is ranked that high regardless of classification. Actually the two top recruits in this area are both 3A, Johnson and WOS Haynes.

He looked average at best in the 7 on 7 tourney. Extremely skinny!! Was not impressed.

Does not need to impress you anyway.

Hardin is a very good 7 on 7 team but they could not beat Silsbee or WOS JV in a real game of 11 on 11. That is where the real studs shine. Friday night Light baby.

WOS has been good at shutting down a one dimensional team or a one man team.  not that Silsbee is one man team.  you can bet that WOS will be focused on Silsbees QB.    other than that, i give up on trying to get this "BLATANT RACIST" contest off this "SPORTS WEB SIGHT".  i guess im the only one who cares.

  OMG!  ::)

td, i am talking about this "Obama socialist contest".  if OBAMA HAD WHITE SKIN THIS "GAME" WOULD NOT BE ON THIS WEB SIGHT.

For what it's worth, I have seen the Obama banner but I have never been stupid enough to click on it.

Johnson is a STUD and if one person were going to beat you, what better than the guy who touches the ball on every play. He will be a hard person to contain. Also, players like him make everyone around them better.

I totally agree, Gas, Jeremy is a very special player and will make those around him much better. The Tigers do have some players ready to make a name for themselves too. I look for RB Chris Barnes to have a breakout year and for a couple of Silsbee's recievers to be in the top of the district standings in recieving. On defense the linebacking quartet of Bolton, Keefer, Simmons and Henry will be as good a set of linebackers in the district. Bolton is a monster, really looking for a great year from him.

Like I said, this Tiger defense really reminds me of those very good WOS defenses that swarm to the ball with great speed. This is the fastest defense I have seen Silsbee have in a long time.

When Silsbee and WOS square off this season, you'll see too very simular teams going at each other. This should be fun.

A month ago I was picking WO-S handily over the Tigers but I am adjusting my spread to a tighter game, (we can do that you know).  The Tigers seem to be getting closer and should have ended the 'Stangs streak last year but that did not happen.  Don't get me wrong, I still feel WO-S will pull it out, even in Silsbee.  Maybe both teams can make a run in the playoffs, we'll see, there's a lot of talent on these two squads.  PS: I still think we stomp Nederland, not gonna change that one.

Another factor many people don't take into account on the varsity level when you have players coming up from the JV is that they feel the kids do not have a rapport and experience with each other. However, in places like Silsbee and Orange, these kids come up playing together. I think silsbee will be better than some may think. On the flip side, the same goes for WOS. I think there will be plenty of fireworks this year. WOS will be breaking in a new QB, but he will have a recieving core like no other. Everyone knows about Franks and Haynes, but he also has Mark Roberts and a kid named Johnson who is a Sophomore. They will be incredibly fast and tall (all but the Soph are 6' or taller). They are going to throw it around a little bit.

as we see it here in austin ,hooks team has what it takes to win no matter where thay play.last yearwhen the kids there in west orange played  the tigers, the kids played very poor football that night. now we are in over time ,and it did not take blong for them to mscore after hooks did his thing, but maybe this year the kids tyhere in silsbee will not go into overtime what do u think

I think we were lucky to get out of there with a win and I'm sure most will agree with that.Silsbee always plays us tuff and are always in the game at the end.I see no reason that will change this year.Matter of fact they came so close to beating the mighty Stangs they really beleive...so buckle up the chin straps,it's going to be a war again.

Great post. I could not agree any more.

This should be a dandy.
