Last year Athens lost to Carthage 61-56. They’re 4-0 so far this year. I’m just saying, there’s a couple of teams out there that can keep it close under the right circumstances. Quote
house Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Keep in mind the Carthage starters almost never finish the game. Typically their opponent will score once or twice at the end of the game. Surratt will normally pull the starters as soon as he can. Quote

Most I have seen in my lifetime of watching high school football they let off the gas. Now they may keep the offense producing yards and points, but it's with the backups. And that's what was discussed. Mr. Buddy Garrity and bullets13 2 Quote
keepitcas Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago I think this game is going to be a toss up. By the comments here it seems some of y'all are trying to lay a dramatic foundation for an epic upset. Unfortunately WO-S thirst for revenge is not valid - these are not the exact teams that played for the state championship. WO-S is pretty much the same unit returning most if not all starters. Carthage on the other hand lost A LOT and therefore have a lot of new parts and first year starters. They have some ares they are figuring out. I don't think it will be an upset if WO-S wins this game. Quote

Hell there are even some who can be up 3+ scores, call a timeout with a minute left in the game to score again. Seen that too many times with my own eyes. Quote

You are just trying to create bulletin board material and a foundation for a possible documentary-worthy moment. But the facts are this: these are not the same exact teams from the championship game in December, for the most part WO-S stayed intact but Carthage is still figuring things out with so many first-year starters. Carthage is vulnerable. BBtater984 1 Quote

Carthage is vulnerable. literally 6 weeks before that game they played and it was 61-56. so you missed my point there, apparently. but the vast disparity in scores makes mine, which was that a team with the right weapons that catches carthage on the right night always has a chance, no matter how small. and you are putting a lot of thought into what is merely a comment on a forum. I don't care who wins this game. In fact, I hope carthage beats them by 50. It might help my team out two weeks later. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted 36 minutes ago Report Posted 36 minutes ago Pretty much across the board Carthage is the favorite. From 6 points up to 27. A WO-S win would definitely qualify as an upset no matter how many the Mustangs have returning and what Carthage is "figuring out". Just in our pickems here on the site, out of 33 folks so far that have picked the game. 32 has picked Carthage. Quote
