house Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago We have established that Jefferson is the main RB in a run heavy team. Any stats on the passing and receiving? Quote
CDAWG68 Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago You have big offense and defensive lines, great running back, and several athletes on both sides of the ball. From what I know you lean heavy on the rushing attack, running back and some with the quarterback. I heard Surratt say on an interview today that the quarterback has a good arm. Does WOS pass that much? If not, WOS can't be run heavy and one dimensional and beat Carthage. Preston, defensive coordinator, is too good at making adjustments based on what the other team is doing. My main purpose for liking high school football, and the Texans is because I absolutely, enjoy the defensive aspect of football. Hitting, tackling smacking anyone who has the football which WOS will do very well. Smacking them with a hard hit makes them more determined to hit teams back. If we need to throw, we will that will be determined on Friday. Excuse me but my husband is waiting on his dinner. Gasilla 1 Quote

Let the bodies hit the floor by Drowning Pool is a good pregame song. That might not be your jam, but Who let the dogs out gets me barking in the Dawg Pound! ladybug33 1 Quote

The only stat that matters is that he's thrown well in the playoffs. 500-600 yards. Don't have exact numbers. He's always had a good arm and throws a pretty ball, but earlier had a tendency to throw off of his back foot. Our O line didn't do a great job of blocking for him at times and we also had problems with dropping the ball. All of that has changed since the playoffs started. The line is a different line. They have controlled the LOS scrimmage in every playoff game. They are very big and very mean, lol. But, no doubt, we are "give it to 4" first. What I see as the big game within the game is whether the Carthage front can stop the WOS line from controlling the LOS. I watched the PG game and they were having their way with Carthage until the scoop and score running right at them. That's something the Stangs do well. That could be a problem. PG had the game in control and were driving getting 5-10 yards per play til the fumble. They could've gone up 24-7. Looked to me like PG panicked after that and got away from what was working. Anyway, I think that could be a problem for the Dawgs. Now, I know some fan of the Dawgs is gonna come say we aren't the team that PG is, like they can possibly know that. For that, we don't have long before we get to see who's right. Quote

#1stangfan Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Lots of folks calling out the WOS faithful and anyone that was disappointed in the coaching. It is easy now to sit back and call everyone idiots right now when halfway through this regular season the narrative was still holding true. The narrative being that WOS is underperforming. These teams have been very talented but there has been something lacking. True, there is probably always a learning curve but there is also the saying “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” that can’t be overlooked. The defense went from being stout to Swiss cheese for a few seasons and a few reasons. I for one hope that this season is the new norm and not an outlier. Not necessarily saying State is the norm but back to being a force. I hope the staff is successful for the sake of the themselves, players, school, fans, community and history. I hope Coach Hickman is super successful going forward and that success is with WOS. Gasilla 1 Quote

WOS "faithful" have been delusional about the "talent" since HH has been there. It is not coincidental that the job came open when it did. I "specifically" called this turn (on this forum multiple times) two years ago based upon the "actual talent" in the current JR class. The only folks who are unable to discern talent in WOS are in actuality, the "WOS faithful". HH and staff have been doing a great job since they got there. They now have a very talented group to go with the great coaching. Quote

How many seasons did WOS have the recent W/L record and playoff shortcomings of recent history no matter the “talent” (always love some good quotations which lead to parentheses)? The points allowed have been record breaking in the wrong direction. I’m sure you have all the insight as to why the job came open. There are others that would differ with your opinion but regardless….this job was coming open sooner than later. The coaching staff does seem talented. However, just like an athlete, all the talent in the world can be there but it has to be focused in the right direction. Reagan 1 Quote

ladybug33 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Mustang Nation you know sometimes it's fun to browse other football forum to see what people are saying about your team. Especially, your OL. according to one WOS hater who believes that OL is the weakest of the team. Page 7 under the WOS page is interesting on the other site. SMH. Hoping that the Huffman Falcons' continue with great success next year at every position in football. Quote

But I would like to send him a copy of chapter 40 so they know what's up. Not like CT saw the huge drop in talent and thought... nope I cant win with any of them. Time to hang it up. But back to topic... Carthage has had all the pieces of the puzzle. We started with the middle moving outward and then it got easier. I think they know what were up against and will come out on fire. With a huge stick to poke the bear. Really hope its not like the Gilmer game. Either one. Vs us in 14 or vs Carthage in 23? I'll always praise these guys just as I do the teams from 88, 00, 14, and 17. Its a huge accomplishment for us to return to any form of out former glory. Quote
