Crosby went from the smallest school in 5A D1 two years ago to the smallest school in 6A. I guess we are going to have to send some recruiters to King, Summer Creek, Northshore, etc.

Facilities will be part of the draw that brings kids to schools.  Crosby lacks facilities.  King has a beautiful stadium and Indoor facility.  North Shore has a nice stadium and are building an Indoor facility.  Summer Creek powerhouse program like the two mentioned earlie

Just a quick throwdown. Have no idea on actual district numbering.

HISD isn't going to leave Sam Houston MST and Milby by themselves. I'm sure they have opted up a bunch of 5AD2 and 4A like last time.

Apparently not.

I was joking about the recruiting.  Crosby has no “draw” for athletes with the current administration.

The article doesn't mention opt ups. He seems to be only looking at the numbers. He may not be aware there is any such thing as opt ups!

Not sure. It could be they’re not opting up any more. He mentions them competing at different classifications for some sports. So, he’s aware of something. Article mentions Sam Houston moving up also. I missed them in my mock.

I’d put Sam Houston in 11-5A for a 9 team district.

Another link that’s not behind paywall. Same article.

I don't know why they couldn't move MST and Milby up to 6A and have majority control of that district with the 4 6A schools they already have in 6A and let their 4A and 5AD2 schools reside in 5AD2 but they didn't do that last time.

Don't know. These are just guesses on my part based on news articles, enrollment numbers, cut-offs, and geography. Will be interesting to see if I'm even 50% correct when it all shakes out. To me, it's as reasonable as anything else I've seen so far.

It would be bad for Sam Houston and Milby (moreso Sam Houston) to get opted up to 6A. Sam Houston is just not very good, and staying in 6A would further continue that. They're not likely to be good in 5A, but could at least claim a bit more of a chance.

HISD opted Chavez up last realignment, but not Westbury, even though Westbury had a higher enrollment. So Idk what their thinking is when it comes to that. They should just leave those schools where they are, but I highly doubt they do that.

Facilities may be responsible for one or two kids in an entire program choosing to come there as it relates to the schools in the northeast Harris County area. All of the communities are different so it’s more about where parents can afford to and want to live.

Both times Crosby played Atascocita they beat them handily and the last time Crosby played CE King in 5A was for the 2015 district championship and we beat them handily. The difference is that CEK and Atascocita both have about 3,600 kids now. Summer Creek was also in our district and just turned in over 4,000. No level of facilities is going to mitigate an enrollment gap against schools with excellent football playing demographics and coaching like those. Crosby just needs a new coach and a few realignments to get out enrollment closer to 3,000 and we’ll be fine in 6A.

Yes, all of the 6A schools with under 3000 enrollments have not been able to compete. The list includes Southlake Carrol, North Crowley, Guyer, Desoto, Cedar Hill, Longview, Willis, Vandergrift, Westlake, to name a few. Hopefully those schools along with "Crosby" can close the enrollment gap and find a way to be competitive in 6A.

Couple of thoughts for 5A:

El Paso schools only had two schools that’s enrollment was Division I.  So two options - travel to Lubbock area and lose a district OR El Paso area has 10 Division 2 schools and some opt up again like last realignment.  Four team district - schedule was home and away.

Confirmed that Houston ISD will have 6 opt ups to form a 8 team Division 1 district.

Galena Park has opted up

All Garland schools will opt up to 6A

In bold: damn shame for Naaman Forest, they have a 5A D2 enrollment. Smh.

The population that is growing in Crosby does not look like King or Atascocita. It looks like Channelview!

I tried to use geography for these four districts ( UIL may not)-  the first two districts have schools that could be interchanged.

What are your thoughts?
