Even if it wasn't too late, why on earth would they opt up? lol

Well, in this case it would help them travel wise.

That DII district currently has Anderson-Shiro, New Waverly and Trinity. Also, Woodville and Newton are much longer drives than what they face currently.

Well in Bridge City's case, it was to get an easier path to the playoffs. They opted up to avoid having WO-S and Silsbee in their district.

BC would've been biggest in region too likely. Everyone knows why they opted up. Explaining why to community and players is another story 🤣

Bridge City is just 4 off from being DI. Got no problem with them opting up.

Liberty on the other hand, has no reason to opt up with a 757 enrollment.

Soft as Mississippi cotton.  Being that close to top of enrollment for your district is perfect landing spot for almost every other school in the state i would imagine.

With that logic, would you have a problem with a school just 4 off from being in a lower division "opting down"....you know, for "travel" purposes? (I realize it's not an option).

UIL should just make people play in the classification they are supposed to be in. It's ridiculous to "opt up" to get an easier path.

I know why Bridge City opted up.  I personally think that schools shouldn't be given the choice.. but I definitely know why they did.

No football coach in the state would choose saving money on travel over potential wins.  A coaching friend of mine once said to me, "I'll drive across the state for a win, but I won't talk across the street for an a$$ whipping".  Do you think Coach Taylor feels any different.

Their explanation from the coach currently was that the people in charge before he got there made that choice on the last opt up. Bold move from a district challenging others integrity and character. BUT I expected them to opt up for an easier path for their measurement of success. And they will have success. Just dont go around beating your chests like you accomplished something big.

I don't know what division they'll fall into but Hardin didn't have any issues this year! Lol

That's true.  They dominated the district this year.. for the first and only time in school history.  And their district MVP is graduating.  And their .. I don't know.. thousand plus yard rusher is also graduating.  I'm sure those aren't the only seniors, but even if they have a ton back.. replacing genuinely GOOD players is very difficult to do.  Hardin has never been the type of school to just reload when they lose some talent.

Hardin will be competent next year but nothing like this year.

Well cmon then, I got some expired kibbles n bits to feed them puppies 😁🙃

Actually, I see GCM dropped also. So, I’d assume Sterling and GCM go with y’all. Not sure if they’d add LP to that or not. May depend on what they do with Lufkin.

Definitely wasn’t assuming they’ll run the table again, just that they should be ok. Seem to be building a good program there.

Still waiting on that in Tarkington lol
