spidersal Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Doesn’t matter how many they were missing, they did not play good and yes they had to be on the field too long. The penalties are inexcusable, but they just can’t move the ball on offense. 10 appears to be their only offensive weapon. Unless they can keep district opponents to 7 or less, they don’t have much of a chance this season. I just can’t imagine that offense scoring more than 14 in a game I knowing they are young, however they are not very good. Sorry but that’s the reality this season I I think the coaches are doing a good job, but it is hard to overcome a ton of penalties and major mistakes on special teams. It certainly is tough when you have very little offense

BADSANTA Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Any stats from the game? Silsbee shut down #10 in the 2nd half. I remember about 5 seasons ago, Nederland scored 21 unanswered points in the the 4th to come back and beat Silsbee 38-35. Silsbee I think has won the last 4 meetings
spidersal Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 BruBaker, It doesn’t matter if 2 DL were missing The special teams fumbles, the penalties, the secondary that can’t cover anyone, and an offense that can’t move the ball is the reason they lost The passing game is about as bad as you can get and I am sure teams will try their best to stop the run and not worry about the throwing game. Other than #10, the Bulldogs have no one that can move the ball I am not going with the flow, I am going with reality
1989NDN Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Spidey---maybe some of those young kids will continue to get better? All programs have cycles of success and down years. That's high school sports. When you have good coaches and a good group of kids, enjoy the ride. When your team struggles, circle the wagons and encourage them to get better. Regardless, if those kids put on your school's colors, love them, encourage them, and support them. On my side of the tracks, if our kids struggle, I hope all Indian fans will love them and encourage them to compete and get better. Tearing them down on a public forum isn't helpful or supportive. Take the next two weeks, heal up, get better in practice, and go compete in district. Good things just might happen. GO INDIANS! Peace. thaferrett, AggiesAreWe, 1970 and 1 other 4
Reagan Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 What happened to Nederland’s game last night that was supposed to be on Texan Live? Anyone know?

Last night when I scrolled down thru the games on TL there were two icons for the Ned-Silsbee game. The one that looked typical would not work. The other was blank except for the words "off line". I clicked on it and got the game. Another thing, the game started at 7:30, not 7:00, which I didn't know until about 7:15. Reagan 1

Last night I went to Texan Live and it didn’t show. Then I hit the Texan Live site on this site that you provided and nothing happened. I watched others just to make sure it wasn’t on my end. I’ll go check it in a little while. Thanks for the reply!

TL mistakenly posted two links to the Ned/Silsbee game. They had to cancel one and use another. The link I provided from early in the week was the one they canceled. My apologies for not getting the correct link posted.

I just went to TL on both Silsbee and Nederland page and both show last weeks game.
bulldawg64 Posted September 13 Report Posted September 13 Myself i would like to see # 27 at rb some. i think he would be a hoss, also get # 81 more involved on offense more . We have to get some more weapons going on offense. teams will key in on #10 for sure. but again its just my insight . .

Everything you are saying is what I was seeing. I finally found it. Go to Texan Live. Then at the top hit "on demand." Then scroll down about a quarter of the way and you'll eventually see it on the left hand side. STiger85 1

I highly doubt that… varsity has the weapons. There is some out of position, and not being utilized. Nederland is to small in numbers for kids to specialize on one side of the ball. Time to mix some kids up on both sides of the ball… we are seeing what faircloth did at PNG years ago and kids specialize on one side of the ball. Will never work in Nederland or PNG. Play the best 11… Neumann did it And his success speaks volumes Darth Texas and bulldawg64 2

When Joseph started playing guys both ways, it was immediately clear what a difference it made. Seemed almost too obvious. We should have been doing it all these years. Few, if any, high school teams have the depth to have exclusive specialists. It’s arrogance to assume you’re so good you only need to use your best tools some of the time. KF89 and navydawg31 2

You might see a situational play but once you hit 9th grade you are either offense or defense. You will not find a kid in the program playing both ways as starters.

Even the situational use is more than we did under the last coach. Reid Richard barely came off the field in the playoffs during the 2023 season. And, when there is situational use, it’s clear the player has been trained well even in their temporary role. KF89, 1989NDN and navydawg31 3
