Reagan Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago 1 minute ago, AggiesAreWe said: A bases-loaded hit by pitch in Cleveland officially ended the Astros' bid for a ninth consecutive playoff berth. Where is @Reagan with the conspiracy theory? I give up! Where? Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago Just now, Reagan said: I give up! Where? It was the Rangers playing Cleveland. Did they hit the batter on purpose to help eliminate Houston? Inquiring minds want to know. LOL Quote

AggiesAreWe Posted 14 hours ago Report Posted 14 hours ago After finding out that they have been eliminated, Houston is already subbing out some starters with bench players. Smith has come in to hit for Altuve and Caratini is in to hit for Parades. Quote
baddog Posted 13 hours ago Author Report Posted 13 hours ago The team will be interesting next year. So many players for 9 positions. I think Blubaugh is doing fine. Quote

spidersal Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Excellent list of season injuries AggiesAreWe IMO Arrighetti and Hader highly missed, the others average pitchers at best Paredes, Pena, Meyers, and Alvarez highly missed, the others average at best They finished 7 of 15 AL teams, middle of the pack, I think I would call that average Now I know you can’t wait to call this negative, however that is honest facts of the season Quote

Only Brown, Hader and Abreu had lower ERA's on the team with that many innings pitched. Garcia at 3.52 and Walter at 3.32 were "above average" when they got hurt. MLB average ERA for the season was 4.10. As for the position players: Dezenzo was hitting above average (.255, MLB average is .240). The fact that so many outfielder's (6) were put on IL during the season put Houston in a bad way with having to pull minor leaguers up sooner than they wanted to. BTW, you listed 4 of the 8 everyday position players. Half of the everyday starters. But you can't see the issue with that. smh Fact is, this team was decimated with injuries. It was simply amazing that they were in the playoff race till the last two games. You can never convince me otherwise. Quote
baddog Posted 2 hours ago Author Report Posted 2 hours ago Why do they leave France off the list? He looked good last night. Garcia was looking way above average before he got hurt again. Quote

spidersal Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago You are correct, they had a lot of injuries, but not at the same time and the players you just mentioned were just not that good. Brown, Hader, Abreu yes, the others you mentioned Sousa, Walter, Garcia no. Dezenzo no. Those guys were average I don’t care what stat you give - they were average Quote

Sousa and Garcia were most definitely above average at the time of their injuries. No debating that fact. Numbers don't lie. But in your mind, all 28 active players on an MLB roster should be way above average. Let me know when you see a team of that caliber. smh Quote
