But he did leave. Everyone, he did leave. Certainly many think the current HC on down needs a change. Maybe that’s true. You are not guaranteed another HOF coach once they’re gone. Sad but true.

If your Gmaw had been cooking something a certain way for so long. Then after Gma passes in comes the wife and changes the recipe. If everyone got sick would you keep eating? Or ask you're cousin to come cook next season? Even though he's across the state he still uses the same recipe.

I’m not disputing any of that. I’m saying, you won’t necessarily find another coach that’s going to use the Hooks/Thompson recipe book. Right or wrong, that’s the way it is. Why doesn't the new coach at Alabama just do what Saban did? Down to the same offensive and defensive schemes… That’s just not the way it usually works.

We've acknowledged having 2 HOF coaches hasn't been like most other schools. So why everyone jumps to the conclusion it wouldn't work here is beyond my comprehension. I see it carry over with these other hires. Gilmer, Aledo, North Shore, Austin Westlake. Next man up that continues the system in place has instant success. Matter fact there was 2 rookie HC that won the state championship the same year we handed over the keys.

Same book. Same recipe. Better ingredients.

Be that as it may, only time will tell. Hide and watch. Don’t be surprised if the next HC hire uses his own recipe. That happens more than not historically. I am not arguing the point that Hooks & CT had a winning combination that could’ve been carried over. I’m saying that finding someone to do that is not going to be as easy as one might think. Tell me again why Saban’s replacement, who even has Saban’s assistance if he wants it, just lost another game to an unranked team and has taken the Tide out of playoff contention? Why wouldn’t he just follow the success of possibly the greatest college football coach ever lived?

It’s not that impossible… different sport but look at Kountze and their success for years in basketball… here a few years back they went through a tough 2-3 seasons because the talent just wasn’t there… still had a state championship level coach but just didn’t have the jimmys and joes to win.

I think WOS89 really means how the kids are not well coached. Talent level always goes up and down but WOS is a very athletic team. Would WOS be a state champion this year with Thompson probably not. But would they look sharper and play better technique probably so. La Vega might have beat them this year with Thompson but i dont think ive ever seen WOS let a running back run down the middle of thier defense without being touched.

Very young LB a few years ago sure did in Jasper,he ran up and down the field all night!

Alabama situation isn’t comparable,he was a HC before and pretty dang successful so he already had ideas of how to do what he wanted to continue that right or wrong. A brand new HC following behind a hall of famer wanting to succeed him should not come in and TRY to change the game plan that’s worked for so long,just take the reins and keep it between the ditches. I mean that’s all if you (the new HC) would want to possibly follow the others all the way to the hall of fame!

Like I told my Drummer buddy. Hide and watch. That probably ain't happening again. A man wants to be a man - not somebody else's version. Especially a HC, new or old.

Let me ask you this: Is there any other way to win at WO-S other than using the same scheme used by Hooks or CT?

WOS isn't the place for on the job training. If that was the plan then start out at West Hardin, West Sabine, or West Brook. Get some Ws under your belt before stepping into greatness.

It is mine and many others belief that WOS would've been back to Region Finals if the system wasn't dismantled by the inexperience of those holding the wheel. We can point to prime examples that prove this all day long. Some here not connected to the program have already done so for us. I appreciate the honesty of those that watch us without the blue tinted glasses.

I'd love for the board and super to see things the way the community does. But they're vision is more like Ray Charles. Becoming infamous for same reasons as Ray J. And have no idea who Ray Lewis is.

BTW one of them was heard at the HF game saying Dan Ray was a cheater his whole career. She got jokes like Ray Ramano and could easily be thrown under the bus like Ray Steven's Gmaw

Plenty of ways that could work. But when it ain't working you need to try something else. Not be too obtuse to see the error in your ways.

Well sure but you’re new to the job with no experience why not settle in and just keep afloat,had we got a different coach with experience and he done this same thing and it fell apart like it has I would have to depend on his experience to get it together…that’s my only complaint is just changing stuff like he did without really making any sense of the moves…

We all heard that but I would have to hear him say he did,and if so then I would know why he did…just to see the boom and be able to say y’all wanted me gone huh!

That would never be his intention. Cares too much about what was built here. I'd hate to try to speak for a legend. But I can assure you it is all explained in detail. 

Anyone interested in reading the story can send me a PM and I'll personally buy you copy of the book and hand deliver it on Christmas morning. What a gift it would be to know the truth.

T didn’t approve Hickman one way or the other. It was a done deal before the committee was formed.  100% truth.
