Do we need a test to weed out alcoholics to prevent them from buying alcohol so they don’t go out an kill a innocent family driving down the road? Mind boggling that all 50 states don’t require an I.D. so you can prove who you are in order to vote in this country.

Who knows, 1 day alcohol liable be banned if ppl don't get a grip and drink responsible!

Did they say they were TAKING YOUR guns or make it difficult or not be able to get them anymore

He said “you don’t need”. He has not done anything yet but if you think it he won’t take every gun that he can get his hands on through legislation, you were either not telling the truth or you have your head in the sand.

Here is a what if scenario. Let’s say something miraculous happens and they find out that by next week if they hurry, they can pass a law that makes all rifles and all 9mm  handguns illegal to own, even if you own it today. You don’t think that law would be passed by the Democrats and they would all get together and say, this is not right because we believe in the Second Amendment?

Right…..

The goal is to seize all guns available just like just like what happened in Australia.

IMO it can gain many positive things! Ppl fail driving test, college tests, pilot test, enlisting in the army! If we take all these tests away imagine how the world will function... ppl fail these test for a reason and a good one probably

A guy that murdered 21 people with a firearm ain’t gonna fail the test.

We have tests for everything but any person over the age can purchase a weapon? Mind boggling

You don’t have to take an intelligence test to vote which is also a right, just like the Second Amendment.

Dude dropped out of school barely worked at a fast food joint, and if I recall correctly had no drivers license and couldn't drive... dude skipped all types of tests

Not being argumentative, but what’s your point? Taking a gun safety class wouldn’t have made a difference.

Not a safety class, more of a mental class! History on the individual and if they don't pass they don't get a gun... make em have to steal it or borrow it to do their crime... I'm just thinking out loud, this would never come to fruition

That is exactly what a determined individual will do to complete their task.  TVC can fact check me, but I believe all of these mass shootings were planned and thought out, not just an impulse decision.  People will find a way to commit their crime.

Yes, these aren’t road rage.

This shooter is supposed to have started making comments about shooting up a school four years ago.  That is the problem with a person that has time to plan.

He can pick his target, decide when he wants to hit it, have back up plans, decide how he wants to commit his carnage like what weapons, etc.

Our government who cares so much about your well-being allows Tobacco companies to make billions of dollars in profit each year knowing that the product they sell kills 480,000 people a year. It even says it on the side of the package.

Cigarette smoking causes about one of every five deaths in the United States each year.1,6 Cigarette smoking is estimated to cause the following:1

  • More than 480,000 deaths annually (including deaths from secondhand smoke)
  • 278,544 deaths annually among men (including deaths from secondhand smoke)
  • 201,773 deaths annually among women (including deaths from secondhand smoke)

Powerful!💯🎯

COLUMBINE STUDENT'S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER !!
Guess our national leaders didn't expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.

They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.. The following is a portion of the transcript:
"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death.

Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent.

I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy -- it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact. What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs -- politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws. Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

"As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA -- I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!

My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"

- Darrell Scott

There you go with “you guys”.

1. Declaring martial law is a stupid claim.

2. I don’t recall any time saying anything about martial law. I honestly can’t remember anyone in this forum claiming  that Obama was going to declare martial law to seize guns. Maybe you read such an opinion somewhere else. If someone else here said that, again it is a stupid claim.

3. Quite to the contrary, I laughed when Obama came up with his many point executive order because I said his orders would have no enforcement under law.

4. The Democrats absolutely want to end most private ownership of our arms and the president today will gladly sign such a bill but the Senate does not have enough   votesto overcome the filibuster.

5. if I said, you know how you people are, you would be having a fit.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
