Hmm, admits to physical contact with a player, but didn't slap him. I wonder if it was the School Board members kid.

Is this a power play or a legitimate issue. Was offered a settlement pretty quickly, could be using it as an opportunity to get rid of a legend.

Kids can push you to the brink....use restraint.

I count to 10 and remove myself from the situation...every morning trying to get a 13 yr old princess out of the house and to school on time.

oh an i bet the school systems loves you for that......

I was just having a conversation about this. My kids challenge me at home, but are well behaved at school. I'll take it. I'd rather discipline some acting out at home than burden a teacher with it.

Kids are going to have "meltdowns"..lol Mine know that when Mama has a meltdown, enough is enough..lol

Good parenting starts when the kid begins walking and talking.. I only had to get after one of mine he is 6ft 3 inches tall and I will stand in a chair if I have too to make my point. I'm blessed I have good kids.

I'm 6'5" my Mama never blinked when she put me in check. Lol

That brings memories of the good ol' days Ladybug

Not to ruin the topic, but the Day any of my kids Challenge me or my Wife; that's the day they move out. I don't care how old they are. Obviously too grown to live with me.

#Ain'tHavingNoneOfThat

just to be clear... by challenge, i mean misbehave, not bow up to me or my wife. Mine are still pretty young, but already know better than that. Poor choice of words on my part.

and by meltdown, I meant whine about make up and hair in the morning to the point of tears...lol Mine would never try to hit me or come at me like that.

This sounds like it may be disgruntled parent(s) at work here.  I would hope if a high school coach actually physically slapped a minor...then there would be police involved.  Was he arrested?

lil john john wasn't getting playing time. Or just an extreme way to make him resign.

One of the many, many reasons I feel so sorry for coaches, and could never do it.  I would get fired year one.  Their jobs are literally dangling by the production of teenagers, and the feelings of parents/board members.  It isn't a coincidence I'm so quick to defend coaches on this site as often as I do.  Plus they're all the while balancing all of that with the fact that they have to teach all day, deal with discipline issues, missed practices, bad practices, other teachers, grades...wow.

People are so stupid.  A good coach has the ability to change the mindset of a player.  Make them work harder than they normally would, make them believe they are capable of beating anyone, get the absolute most out of a kid/team, even impact the future of their players by transforming then into productive citizens when their parents couldn't.

But...no matter how good of a coach they may be.  If the other team's fastest player is faster than your fastest player, the other team's biggest player is bigger than yours, the other team's strongest player is stronger than yours, and the other teams best player is better than yours...it may not matter how good of a coach you are.  But parents don't want to hear that.  Literally...shaking my head.

Okay, so what happens now.  Player says he slapped me and Coach says I did not.  Whose side does the school board take?

And from what I have heard (for whatever that is worth), Coach did not slap him per someone on the sidelines and it was a school board members son.

My mom has said the same thing.  :)

When I played, if a coach said that he was going to put his foot in your butt, he meant it. I am not sure how many times I have had my helmet slapped.

Today we have come to a time that we are playing a sport where kids can slam into each other going full speed in opposite directions that sometimes causes broken bones, torn ligaments and concussions and complain that a coach touched someone.

More pansification of America.

I agree with this completely. I had a junior high basketball coach that stood under the goal during warm-ups. If you missed a layup you got swatted with his whistle strap. He was huge and believe me you felt it. To me at the time it was normal. Believe me when I say I learned to make layups with both hands very quickly as you had to use left hand on left side and right hand on right side.
