Bridge City 14 Newton 45/Final

The Newton Eagles look to get back on track this week by hosting Bridge City.   W.T. Johnston's Eagles come into the game 0-1 after falling to Tatum last week, 39-7.  Cris Stump's Cardinals sport a similar 0-1 record after a 42-7 loss to Kirbyville last Friday.

A lot of the fumbles last night was from the ball being slick. Elam said the ball was hard to grip with the moisture from the field and all the sweat

Think it was humidity it was muggy last night. It never did rain. The stats only showed 4 fumbles though. I know Calum Foster had two long TDs called back this game could of easily been 60 to 14 if those aren't called back

Newton scored on those drives anyways.... It looked like the eagles let off the gas in the second half. Our defense stiffened a little, but not that much. There were some really talented kids wearing purple out there last night.

After playing Kirbyville and Newton the last two weeks, I've got to say that Newton is still the team to beat.

It was nice up here last night, at least for the first half. We had a nice breeze blowing. It's supposed to only get up to 83 this coming Friday with a 40% chance of rain up here.

That's why I wish they never took Newton off the schedule. I still would take Kirbyville anyday of the week over those Eagles this year.
