It cycles. Something will change and one or both of the Beaumont schools will get better. The sad thing is Beaumont Central used to take the locals schools behind the woodshed all the time. Even Ozen got its licks in sometimes. It’s weird that combining them made them worse. And we all know Westbrook can be better than they are. The pendulum will swing one of these days and we’ll be talking about another Westbrook playoff run. But, Beaumont ISD administrators needs to get off their self-serving, myopic, arrogant butts and hire a real coaching staff, not just some guy who used to coach in Beaumont who everyone is friends with.

    Yes, it happens,

in the Early 2000's Ozen was a great program, producing D-1 athletes, even with Brook taking a lot of their athletes. They did sputter after Brooks left, I believe, but still had some good years and good teams.

Central was always a powerhouse with probably some of the best athletes in in the State, I definitely seen them take a lot of teams to the woodshed. but like stated in another thread I believe Coaching failed this team more times than not.

Westbrook most years was the top team in the area, a few of Rabbs years we're below expectations but for majority of the time the only reason they weren't playing deep into December was due to playing in Texas 5A and later on 6A but was still able to make it to the final game. Still an all Brook has produced.

Like you stated I can't see both schools becoming like a La Marque or Galveston Ball, but still I wouldn't be surprised, there has been a large exodus of athletes out of Beaumont.

To your previous comments, the talent on the state team at WB was unreal. 3 Division 1 WRs, another WR that was faster than all of em, 2k yard RB, another RB that could've went D1, QB was like a hs version of Lamar Jackson, 2 or 3 college offensive linemen, 2 div 1 DBs and another who's been playing college ball and 3 guys on the dline that played/playing college ball.  That is a loaded team sir. Yea they were well coached but had a lot of talent to go with it.  If you pulled the current rosters for all the schools in the area plus a kid at CE King who is balling and another at Judson, you would see how many players have left WB, some for school purposes because BISD sucks and some bailed because things didn't go their way.

2nd, before you go bashing a coach saying he sucks, know the man.  Langston is one of the best dudes in the business.  Most guys would've bailed out of WB already or he could've gone back to college ball.

Lastly, that WB team that went to state lost to NS in district that year like 62-6 or something.

The damning thing about that is that team was no different from other past teams to come through BISD. I would dare to even say that team wasn't even the most talented to come though WB in team in the last 10 years ( Im no even mentioning the Early/Mid 2000 teams).  What I will say though is that team had came up through the pop-warner ranks together (Which most teams from past BISD schools didn't have the luxury of) and peaked at the right time and caught some lucky breaks, I won't take anything from them though, that offense was dynamic, but I'd be lying If I said I had never seen anything like that before in Beaumont history.

I think that's why a lot of ppl are hot, talent has never been an issue in Beaumont, I don't care what ppl say, and the writing has been on the wall for as long as I can remember, invest more in athletics like other communities, hire the right coaches for the job.

Now I don't know Langston personally, but I have heard nothing but great things about him, plus I know a few coaches on the staff, and I know they care for those kids and vice/versa, but I know a lot of good man, that I wouldn't want coaching football. Being a good guy doesn't make you a good football coach. At the end of the day, it's a business just like your job, and if you're not performing, I'm sure you'll be feeling the heat to and possibly receive your walking papers if things continued on the downward spiral.

Its a shame when Beaumont really has some good middle school teams coming up, and you see the future there, but like someone earlier said you talk to the parents and the first thing they say "Yeah we're looking at schools outside of BISD. Thats a problem and needs to be addressed.

  3. so basically what im gathering from this forum is talent was never the issue, cause according to this board the players leaving Brook and going to other programs and would be starting or at least be playing heavy snaps at high ranking programs??

P.S: yes I know 6-A is totally different but still that doesn't mean they shouldn't be competitive.

This was a good game for BU!!!

It helps you understand is more than just talent!!! Make no mistake C.Falls showed what the difference is between a good coach and a great coach! This type of games are good for you

Any who congrats BU one of the great dynasty runs I've seen

basically this game made BU have to allow on execution rather than Athleticism.

If he gets to elite 8 or better they may have to.  And I really like Rodney.  Would you rather have him than Oates or Musselman though?

I hate they lost beard, but they’ve done well since he’s left.  I’m all for them keeping the interim.  The question will be if he’ll be able to recruit like beard did, because he’s doing a great job coaching the transfers and recruits that beard brought in.

tu needs to keep this "interim" coach as their head coach.

Terry has shown he can coach. I think the bigger question is can he construct a roster in this transfer portal era where HS recruits aren't #1 priority anymore. Beard absolutely hit the jackpot with the roster he constructed at Texas this season like he did at TTech countless times.

Highschool recruiting is a 2nd thought now and days. Think im wrong look at the top 10 teams in recruiting last season (2022) and now look at the top 10 coaches poll, only two teams (Tenn & KU) and with KU losing they may not be top 10 come Monday. Is all about how you construct rosters. Look at Vilanova, Jay Wright could construct rosters with the best of them.

Only thing is the only way Texas finds out if Terry can out together rosters is after a contract is done. Hey maybe Terry might be that Tom Izzo that goes from assistant to head and has great success
