Been a hell of a four year run by this group.  Was sure fun to watch

Am I the only one who thinks that charges are called too frequently across the board these days?

It was fun while it lasted. Sometimes things just don't work out the way you think they should. HJ loses a quality group of Seniors both on the court and off, but there are many young ones ready to play. Good Luck to all the local teams still playing. 

Wow here we go...Not good luck we hope you success...I support all teams in 22-5A in the playoffs...I have no hateration, some cant wait for the "L" to happen to certain teams. Dont hate Ozen disagree with that fan not the players that have no control over whats said on here by a fan...  

Recruiting has changed so much. 25 years ago, coaches contacted you, scouted and actually recruited you (Some big time players still get this, but not the lesser known athletes). Now, the players are expected to reach out and contact coaches with social media and email to see if they have any interest. This concept is not easy for some athletes and parents to do (especially if you have grown up letting your game speak for itself, which I think fits Angel). He should be receiving offers, great player that does the big things on the court and just as importantly does the little things.

Think this turnaround has anything to do with the coaching change? BC has always had some talented players. Congrats!

No chance of freshmen game.

Leadership and tradition. Like the video showed, the players from 1991 have gone on to be successful off the court. Watching this video reminded me of how several of these men gave back to the community by being part of HJ after that season. Coach Sutherland came back as a Head Coach, Dr. Harrison was a Principal and Assistant Superintendent,  Dr. Nolte coached before becoming Principal at HJ, Coach Davis came back as an Assistant Coach and is now leading the Hawks, and Dr. Holmes is currently the Superintendent at HJ. Not to mention that Dr. Isabell is a main supporter of the HJ Marathon. Many others on this team have gone on to be successful as well, just thought it was interesting how many came back and helped with the development of the program and school.

And as the 3s rained down from he and his teamates we saw exactly what have seen before.. no 3 fingers tapped to the head, no airplane arms back down the court and no stirring the pot to the stands or the bench. Somehow though, he continues to find ways to keep himself motivated. It is inexplicable. 

It is a shame they didn't have a JV game. Lots of kids that didn't get an opportunity for a game on both teams.

Best stat I heard tonight.  HJ's group of senior basketball players (9 kids total) have a group GPA of 3.5!  That's an incredible number and something to be really proud of.  Keep that up and they will all be going places!

Wait....West Texas BBQ is in Silsbee. I'm confused  

You must be mistaken. HJ isn't scared and isn't running from Silsbee. They may not win all (1 out of last 3) but do not think they are scared or intimidated. The last 3 games (that this group of kids have been involved in) have been good competitive games for the fans to watch. So if you have gotten that from watching, you have missed out on some good basketball by 2 teams. Again, NOT SCARED! 

Took a totally different path than Madison did a few years ago but Bridgeport made that move seem insignificant.   UIL knew it was coming and didnt do anything about it.  Dont care if there was a loophole or not.  Disgraceful on all fronts.

Please.  Blasted by a LOADED (questionable) roster of D1 talent.  Sterling was at least an all Houston team with 5 seniors playing who outplayed Silsbee .  You can maybe question the Sterling team but there is NO DOUBT that the Bridgeport team was a scam and disgrace on the part of the UIL.

Let's clear a few things up here
1. Basketball does lift someone made a comment about lifting, during the off season they lifted 3 days a week and they are lifting 2 days a week.  Coach Foster and Maze have put some good weight on some kids.
2.  I can confirm Coach Foster has emailed and made several phone calls for Angel including yesterday he sent an email to Henderson State with film.  Like any college coach they want to see him play in person and they will but right now like every d1-jc they are in conference.  Some people forget the small schools (colleges) are on a thin budget recruiting and can't just jump in the car.  So if anyone thinks Coach Foster hasn't done anything to help you are wrong
3.  Angel grades are fine and he works hard in class so nothing wrong with grades
4. Someone will take him and I honestly don't think Angel is worried about it he and the rest of the kids are such good teammates with each other they are focus on the ultimate team goal right know and everything will work

Also, if he is a point guard, then why has he shot twice as much as any other player on the team?
In Big Sandy game, he shot 22 times, making 7 (32%). Next player was Gilbert who shot the ball 11 times. Everyone else had 5 or less attempts. To me, that is not distributing the ball like a true point guard but more like a 2 guard.
Also, Cole had just 2 assists but 7 turnovers in that Big Sandy game. Oh, and that's against that lowly 2A school.
