  1. Hey Round Ball Fans...

We here at SETXSports are neck deep in the football season with our biggest number of broadcast games that we have ever put together, but even while football is the focus we have basketball in mind as well.

The 2019-2020 season is only a couple of months away and we are looking to put together one of our most biggest packages ever for this season of basketball, just like we did for football, but we are looking at a slightly different way of bringing games to you.

Even from early in the season we always have some great match ups and those surprising games where teams rise up and knock off a powerhouse. Well the plan we are putting together will have SETXSports in gyms all over Southeast Texas bringing you the very best games on Tuesdays and Fridays this season.

So here is the appeal. We are looking for sponsors that want to be showcased on these broadcasts. Think about it! Almost every business is now no more than a few key strokes away from doing business anywhere in the world, so why wouldn't you want to advertise right here in Southeast Texas to people that love sports and are interested in the students of this area and the schools that they attend.

The time is now to get in on the best packages and prices for your businesses. It will be upon us before we know it so call 409 466-2641 and lets talk about how you can get involved and if you would like to sponsor a specific team once they enter into district play we can discuss that too!

Don't delay tip off will be here before you know it.

  2. With football getting started this coming Thursday night with our first SETXSports.com broadcast you might be wondering how your business might benefit from being a broadcast sponsor?

Well it is easier than you might think!

You can choose to sponsor a certain team or a couple of schools or you could even become a, "TOTAL PACKAGE SPONSOR" and get your business on every broadcast this regular season. In addition if you are a regular season sponsor you will be in line for the best prices on playoff sponsorship as well. Another thing that you might not have considered for your business is placing your advertisement on the SETXSports website.

If you are interested the time to decide is now. We have a limited staff and we are making this appeal to get the word out to as many people and businesses as possible. If you have any interest is sponsorship, please contact me with a private message or you can email me at [email protected].

The season is upon us and we have several schools in SETX that are primed to make championship runs. Take the first step in helping our schools and fans by becoming a broadcast sponsor. You will be glad you partnered with SETXSports and you know that plenty of people will get your message from the live broadcasts and from people listening to the archived games. Don't delay as time is running out.

    Thanks

    Scott Loar

  3. With tthe season upon us we are actively seeking businesses that want to advertise on the broadcasts that SETXSports has coming up this season.

It is simple and you can be assured that your message will be getting out to the fans of teams that are being broadcast or even to the people that listen to any of our broadcasts!

We will be covering, Silsbee, Lumberton, Newton, East Chamber & Anahuac as well as our Game of the week that will include many more teams as we seek out the best match ups in the 3A and 2A teams in the area.

You can secure a place on any one of the broadcasts over you can sign up for the TOTAL PACKAGE and your commercials will be aired on all of the broadcasts.

If you would like to discuss sponsorship or to schedule a meeting please message me and be sure to leave a phone number. Time is short so don't delay. You have just a couple of weeks left to get your place in the SETXSports broadcast rotations.

Thanks and I look forward to getting your business on board with the very best spot for high school football coverage.

  4. I have covered Newton's playoff runs for the last two years all the way to AT&T. I would never count the Eagles out especially before the season has even begun. Do they have holes to fill? Of course they do! Who doesn't?

Newton has been so dominate the last two years that players who were down the depth chart have gotten valuable playing time, not just in the regular season, but deep into the playoffs. Players who will be seniors this year have played over three years worth of football in most of their two years in the Eagles varsity.

20 regular season games and 12 playoff games. You can't put a value on that much extra practice time and experience. Will they be as good as the last two years? Maybe! Will they go undefeated? Maybe! Will they win a third state championship? Maybe!

With less than a month until the start of summer practices all the questions will soon be asked. Will Silsbee or WOS or Gilmer beat the Eagles? Only the games will tell, But is a 3A D2 team loosing to a 4A D2 or a 3A D1 so bad? Bigger schools are supposed to loose to larger schools if all things are equal. For years no teams have really wanted to schedule Newton in pre-district play. This year when the Newton coaching staff had every reason to believe that their team might be down due to the loss of so many players look at their pre-district schedule.

I watched Coach Johnston on the sidelines while his father was in the press box for most of the playoff games last year. His defense will continue to be stout and the offense still has plenty of weapons. Greg Neece will be missed, but good coaches move on every year and the best programs continue to stay at or close to the top.

I know this is just friendly banter and it will mean nothing once the lights go on and the games are played. But one thing that can't be measured is the heart of the players who just might want to give one final parting gift to their beloved fallen coach.

Just a thought and my opinion...

  5. Well the wait is over! A few games were last night, but tonight the lights will be on in stadiums all over Texas and the greatest season of the year gets underway! It football time in Texas. I just wanted to encourage everyone to get out and support their local school. The players, coaches, bands, cheerleaders, drill and dance teams have been hard at work to put on something that will boggle the mind.

We have so many great storylines that surround almost every program in the SETXSports.com coverage area. From those still recovering a year after Harvey, to new coaches, new players and in the case of Beaumont two schools becoming one. Newton will try to repeat as state champions, West Orange Stark will try to get back to the top and Silsbee will try to keep WOS from even winning the district. Woodville has its sights on continuing with their success while Orangefield and Lumberton have both moved down and hope to make noise in their new classifications. I could go on and on!

We at SETXSports.com are excited to be able to bring you so many games week in and week out. Newton, Silsbee, and now Lumberton as well as our spotlight series that includes games with Woodville, Kirbyville, Buna and Evadale. But there are many, many more and with our coverage of so many teams of course we will be covering the teams that they play as well.

On a side note we are all excited that our friend and the guy that helps keep everything running smoothly, Todd Brousard is doing so well and is back where he belongs helping you our faithful listeners and posters with this very special site.

So here is a prescription for your next at least 11 Friday nights. Go see your local school play or pick one of the incredible match ups that will be happening all across our area. If you can't be at a game well SETXSports.com has you covered. Just head to the website and click on the link for the game that you want to hear. Or your final option, go to a game and listen to one of the SETXSports.com broadcast and then you get the very best of both worlds!

Well it's game day so lets get it started!

  6. On August 22nd the Jasper Newsboy will produce its very first Fall Sports Preview!

This special in the paper will include team and group photos of football, volleyball, cross country, bands, cheerleaders, drill/dance teams from 16 area high schools that are in the Newsboy coverage area for the Sports Spectrum Sports Page of the paper.

Photos, schedules, features and more will come from Jasper, Newton, Woodville, Kirbyville, Buna, Evadale, West Sabine, Hemphill, Burkeville, Colmesneil, Chester, Spurger, Warren and we will even include three smaller schools, Brookeland, Broadus and Zavalla who will be in preseason workouts in the Fall.

  11. The Jasper Newsboy Sports Spectrum is striving to be the regional source for high school sports in our area and in order to do so we have asked area coaches to take a picture of both pages from their score book from each game.

Not all of the coaches have gotten on the band wagon and we need your help. Several teams do a good job for us, Jasper, Evadale, Kirbyville guys even the Brookeland girls, but we want to cover everybody so if your school is located in this list i need for you to let me know if you would like to help us out. Brookeland guys, Broadus, Buna Burkeville, Chester, Colmesneil, Kirbyville girls, Newton, Spurger, Warren, West Sabine, Woodville and Zavalla.

We also need pictures so if you have a picture that you would like to submit send it to me. Be sure to identify players and give yourself credit for the picture.

You can send any and all materials to [email protected]

    Thanks

  12. Good morning coaches,

Well the 2017-2018 basketball season is not that far away and I need your help. Here on SETXSports I am known as Rebel Yeller which came from two sons graduating from Evadale and being the football announcer there for 8 years. But more recently you can catch me right here on SETXSports as the broadcast voice for the Woodville Eagles. But during the week I have a different job as the Sports Editor of the Jasper Newsboy.

We call the sports page, Sport Spectrum as we strive to cover the full spectrum of sports in our area. We are committed to covering each and every school in our area and while that will of course mean Jasper, Newton, Woodville and Kirbyville it also means we want to do stories on Brookeland, Zavalla, Burkeville, Buna, Evadale, West Sabine, Colmesneil and even Chester. So the help I am looking for from coaches at these schools is this, once your roster is set I will need a copy and then at the conclusion of each game I need pictures of both pages from the score book.  I can't be in that many places in one night so I do stories off of the game by reading the scorebook. I will highlight close games, high scorers, and if you want to give my email address to you school photographer then we will add pictures when we can.

You can send any and all information to me at [email protected] and if you have any questions please give me a call at 409 384-3441.

Thanks in advance for your help coaches in covering your team. I wish you all much success and have a great season.

    Scott Loar - Jasper Newsboy

  13. Good Morning Coaches,

Well a brand new season is just around the corner and I need your help. Here on SETX Sports I am known as Rebel Yeller thats because my sons graduated from Evadale and I was the football announcer for 8 years. But more recently you can hear me broadcasting right here on SETX Sports as the voice of the Woodville Eagles. But during the week I am the sports editor of the Jasper Newsboy and that is where I need the help of coaches that are covered by the Newsboy.

Our policy at Sports Spectrum is to cover all the teams in the area regardless of their size so while we will of course cover Jasper and Newton, we want to cover Goodrich, Zavalla, West Sabine, Burkeville and all the schools in our coverage area. The help I need is simple. I need coaches to send me team rosters once they are finalized. Then after every game I need them or someone on their staff to take pictures of both pages of their score book from the game and send them to me via email. You can send them to [email protected] and when you do that we can keep everyone up on the happenings with your school and your team.

If you have any questions you can call me at the Newsboy office 409 384-3441. Thanks again in advance for your help and good luck on your upcoming season.

    Scott Loar - Jasper Newsboy

  14. To those joining in on tonight's broadcast I ask your forgiveness, I will likely be just in time and possibly late on the start of tonight's broadcast. I am in Houston for my wife's final chemotherapy treatment and it is important that I am here for it. I will be heading straight for Buna the moment she gets released. I hope you can understand and I will be there to broadcast as much of the game as I possibly can.

  15. Hey Eagles Fans

Well it took us a little time to get this together, but SETX Sports is ready to start bringing you YOUR WOODVILLE EAGLES on the web beginning this Friday night from LCM. I hope you can bee at the game to show your support, but if you can't we will be bringing you all the action, play by play from start to finish.

The LCM Bears and many of the communities along the Sabine River are of course dealing with the aftermath of their second major flood in two years, so Friday nights action will be a great chance for us to escape the harsh realities of the situation and focus on some great high school football action. I hope that we can all be encouraging to one another before, during and after the game. These athletes, coaches, bands, cheerleaders, drill teams, ticket takers and concession stand workers are all excited about getting the opportunity just to play so let all just have some fun and watch (or listen) to some Eagles and Bears football.

Be sure to go to the link for the broadcast on SETXSports.com and if any of you Woodville businesses would still like to be a part of sponsoring our broadcasts, just send me a message and we can surely get you involved.

Thanks again for supporting SETX Sports and have a great week!

    Scott Loar

SETX Sports broadcaster and Jasper Newsboy sports writer
