Hey Rebel Fans
Been a while since the Yeller has been on but I have some news that I needed to share. I will be back in the Evadale press box on Saturday, October 22 to broadcast the Rebels homecoming game against the Colmesneil Bulldogs. Many of you know that I have been broadcasting Kirbyville games for SETX for three years and this year I asked about heading back to Evadale and the powers that be about putting the Rebels on the air and they said go for it.
I have a few more advertising spots available and I would be happy to discuss particulars if you would contact me, (409) 466-2641.
I am so looking forward to being in Evadale and will be covering the parade and the pregame activities for the Buna Beacon. hope to have the chance to talk to old friends and of course see some great high school football.
Thanks
Scot Loar

I can confirm that Kirbyville Wildcat football will be back on the internet once again this season. Still working out the particulars and looking for a replacement for our color guy. Looking forward to another great season broadcasting for the Wildcats and hoping that they make a very deep run in this years playoffs.

Just a reminder that if you cant make it to the game it will be broadcast here on SETXSports. If you cant be there tune in and give a listen@

this years SETX All Star Basketball game has been cancelled. The Evadale Catfish Festival which has put on this event since it began will not be able to host it this year. When the All Star games began they were a part of the weekend events of the festival, well now that the festival has moved into early March while the playoff basketball season is still on going it can not happen and as we draw closer and closer tot he end of the school year the students, teachers, parents and all those involved in schools are focused on other things.
The festival would have no problem turning the event over to some other organization in the area and would do what we could to support it, but at this time efforts are being poured into the main event of the festival and looking at events that can enhance the weekend of the festival and not extra events that are not directly connceted to the festival.
We apoligize for the lateness of this announcement and for the disappointment that it causes to senior athletes, but this is something that we felt was in our organizations long term best interest.
Scott Loar -
I still need to hear from coaches from all classifications on nominations of players. I will be working on this over the next couple of weeks to get it settled. The Likely game times will be 3A-5A girls @ 1 pm, 3A-5A boys @ 3 pm, Private - 2A girls @ 5 pm and Private - 2A boys @ 7 pm.
Of course we need the nominations in order to have players for the teams.

The Evadale Catfish Festival will once again host the SETX ALL STAR BASKETBALL GAMES we are looking at Saturday, April 27th for the games.
We need all area coaches to nominate guys and girls to the teams. We will try to have four games Girls 3A-5A, Boys 3A-5A, Girls Private School to 2A and Boys Private School to 2A. We will play then in that order so parents and friends can come and watch their players in back to back games.
For the coaches you can PM me if you need further details. When it comes to nominations each school can nominate 3 guys and 3 girls. We ask that coaches rank them as we will invite all the #1's first them work our way down to fill out the teams. Players will wear their own school uniform as we will have a team in their whites while the other is in their color uniform.
Admission to the games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The proceeds will go towards the Evadale Catfish Festival King & Queen Scholarship Fund. Once final arrangements are made then we will confirm the information so everyone can make plans. -
sorry if I got the locations wrong.

With only one game remaining the everything except the distirct championship is still up for grabs!
Big Sandy is the champions, followed by Sabine Pass with a 5-4 record in second place. Then Evadale, Hull-Daisetta and West Hardin are all at 4-5 and tied for third. If the three teams tied for 3rd all win Tuesday then there will be a four way tie for second. If Evadale & HD win then thare is a three way tie for second. If Evadale and WH win then it BS, SP & Evadale in the playoffs as the Rebels won both games against the Oilers. If HD & WH both win then there is a three way tie with them and SP.
Evadale plays Colmesneil at home, while the Bulldogs have only won one district game they have played much better in the second half of the district season. HD plays at SP and WH is at BS. If the home teams hold serve then its Big Sandy, Sabine Pass and Evadale. If the results are different then some coaches might need to get their lucky coins warmed up as a coin flip might well be the only way to decide a three or four four team tie for the playoff spot or spots. -
Congrats to the Lady Rebels on the District Championship!
No one in 1A can be looking forward to playing these ladies as they just keep on winning. This is the most wins for a Lady Rebel team in a single season and with a JV squad that went 19 - 0 there is still plenty of talent in the pipeline. The Lady Rebels have plenty to do this year left, but the future looks bright for the Lady Rebels returning next year as well as those who will be stepping into the void left by this years senior class. -
The Evadale Catfsih Festival will once again host the SETX All Star Basketball Games on Saturday, April 13th at the Evadale High School Gym on the campus located on FM 105 a half mile south of Hwy 96.
We are inviting coaches to nominate players for the game by sending the players name and position along with the players phone number to SETX All Star Game Box 45, Evadale TX 77615. Nominations must come from coaches on school letterhead. Coaches are allowed to nominate three players who must be seniors. Coaches should rank the players as their first to third choices. All #1's will be contacted first then 2's and then 3's if the is still room on the roster.
We will attempt to hold a 5A-3A game and a 2A-Private schools game. We hope to do this with guys and girls for a total of 4 games. Tickets for the games will be sold only at the door with $5 for adults and $3 for students. The proceeds of the event go towards the Festival King & Queen Scholarship Fund.
Players will wear their own school uniform so spectators will know where the players are from and to give the athletes one final time in their school's uniform. This note is for both biys and girls coaches and as the season is nearing its conclusions I hope that teams will send in the names of thier players so they can be invited to be a part of what have become some very enjoyable games. It has been our pleasure to host this event 5 out of the last 6 years. It has been great to see players who have faced each other over many years having one last time to go up against them or to play along side them for the frist time.
If coaches need additional information they can send me a personal message or call 409 276-1470 for additional information. Please coaches we need your nominees for our game, please help us make these games possible.
Scott Loar the Rebel Yeller -
I have been rather quiet this year here in the forum, but I just have to sound off now
In my best HD 55 impression let me share some fact
Regardless of tonights outcome the Rebels will be making their 7 straight playoff appearance. In that time they have 5 district championships, one area championship and one regional semi-finalist (we lost to the eventual state champion, Fall City)
Evadale is a school with a population of 135 students, with about 75 young men from grades 9 through 12. 45 of those played football this year. They still had a JV team and traveled with 22 or 23 until district arrived.
I just think that a school that has dominated the SETX landscape for most of the past 7 years does not have to apologize for not being the state champion each and every year. The school or the coaches have never picked the district that they play in, thery have not choosen the region they have to work through the playoffs in, they did not make the enrollment cut offs to make them a small school. They have played 2A teams and good private school teams in non-district games. They have played 1A D1 teams in non-district and they did not go into Tenaha and lay down just because they were last years state champions.
Our kids practice and play hard in every sport no matter the opponent. The only choices that we ever get to make is who we play in a tournament and what coach does not try to make it possible for his team to win their own tournament. But the Rebels and Lady Rebels don't just invite pushovers to tournaments.
Rebels
Football 7 straight playoff appearences 2006-2012 5 straight district championships 2007-2011 Regional Semi Finalist 2010
Basketball 4 straight playoff appearences 2009-2012 3 straifgfht district championships 2010-2012 Area Champs 2012, State Runner up 2010
Baseball 7 straight playoff appearenes 2006-2012 7 straight district championships 2006-2012 Area Champs 2008, Regional Semi Finalist 2010, State Runner Up 2011.
Track 4 straight district championships 2009-2012 Area Champions 2012
Lady Rebels
Volleyball 3 straight district championships 2010-2012 Area Champs 2012
Basketball 8 straight district championships 2005-2012 Area Champs 2006 & 2008 Regional Semi Finialist 2011
Softball 2 playoff appearences 2011-2012
The Rebels and Lady Rebels had a combined 80.4 winning percentage over the past 5 years.
I know our kids are competitors and they work hard at every sport they participate in. We have endoured the weak district talk and now we have a strong district. Our kids just know that you have to play the team that shows up on the far side of the field. They don't ask about the size of the school or anything else they just play the games -

The new football scoreboard is due to be installed on Friday at Rebel Stadium. The poles have been in place for a couple of weeks and the scoreboard will go up. It should be fully operational for the Rebels season opener against Warren on August 31st.
It won't be a jumbo-tron by any means, but it will be one of the best you will find at a 1A school. A big thanks to Eastex Federal Credit Union for their assistance with the purchase of the scoreboard. They are truly great supporters of Evadale schools and all aspects of the Evadale community. -

As the longest running Midnight Madness is SETX the Rebels are happy to share the morning with these other schools. It has been a big boost to the Evadale program which has been to the playoffs for 7 years in a row with 5 district crowns in a row as well.
It will be great to see the lights on, even though it will be very early. The Rebels always look forward to MM and it has become a community favorite as well. It always brings out the cheerleaders, students, parents, grandparents and former players as they look on to see what the Rebels will look like for the coming season.
The poles for the Rebels new scoreboard are in place and waiting for the new scoreboard to be installed. Coach Williams has three new coaches on the staff as another change this season.
So to Vidor, WOS and Deweyville the Rebels say, "Welcome to the 'Knocking at Midnight Club'!"
Five Surprising (Good) Teams This Year

Having covered the Rebels for the past ten years I can say that they have indeed been a playoff team for all 10 of those years. In 2007 they started their playoff run and in 2009 they went 10 and 0 in the regular season and they were regional semi finalists in 2010. They lost to that years state champion, Falls City at Kyle Field. They have won several district championships and they have an impressive record under Mark Williams.
