You can take the thugs out of the hud but just because they have god in the class room ,wont make them Altar Boys

Thugs, WOW!  Must be on the loosing end, lol.  Thugs cause they are winning?  Do you call Kelly, PN-G or Evadale "thugs" when they are winning?

Just a joke Big Ford! In the years that Evadale and Legacy played I had great respect for the Warriors, players, coaches and fans. It looks to be a good year for their team. I just know that this is not the first time this season that something like this has come up about the Warriors racking up the points. We have had great success here in Evadale for the past few years. I know the playbook shrinks to dive plays and nothing fancy, the coaches ask the other coaches do they want to run the clock and the victory formation is used when it can run out the game clock.

Victories are what coaches are judged by, but character has a different measuring stick.
2. Had a guy in our press box last night that was evaluating officials and he said that High Island had cancelled the remainder of their football season. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I know they were scheduled to play Deweyville and early in the week the Pirates were searching for a game for their varsity for last night. So did the Cardinals just opt out of that game or have they hung it up for 2011?

I would hate that it happened, but I know we have heard that the numbers are very low and even they finished a game a couple of weeks ago with only 10 players.

Not trying to start anything! Just wanted to know. I would think that they may be looking at the same thing Chester had to do a couple of years back and switching to 6 man in order to play football.

One consideration that needs to be remembered is that the UIL like to keep close to a equall number of teams in each classification. So while the numbers at some schools go down you have to factor in that the only classifications that are adding schools in almost every case is 4A or 5A. But howmany schools will be added is unknown at least to me.

Just because the numbers drop does not mean that a school will drop the addition of schools at the top will mean that the numbers in the lower classifications can increase as well, so the numbers in classifications and even divisions for 1A & 2A will increase. In the case of Deweyville with a 79 student difference that is likely going to mean a change, but without dramatic shifts like that it seems likely that teams will not make as many shifts as most of this thread seems to think they will be making.
If I understand this right it will only help Deweyville as we are traveling in some cases 3 1/2 hours now to play schools that have say 335 and our count right now is 196. what are your thoughts?
As I stated I believe that Deweyville will drop due to the large drop in their enrollment, but I was mostly refering to the predictions of so many others that are at or very near their numbers from 2009. I just believe that it will take "Deweyville-like" drops to make the wholesale changes that some are predicting for their schools.

6. This one will be close once again this year. Trinity is in a simular situation to the Rebels as they graduated a good number of their skill positions. But I look for the Rebels to rebound from last week and come out with a win. It likely will be determined by less than a touchdown. But I predict a Rebel victory!

8. Have to give the Pirates credit. They held together and came out with the victory. The Rebels are a work in progress and for 3 quarters they held their own. The 4th Q was the Rebels undoing and just have to put that one aside now and move on.

The Pirates will need to work on holding onto the ball once they get against larger schools as the Rebels forced a good number of them including the one that was returned for a TD.

I have one other thing about the game. One of the guys with the chain gang was cussing like crazy! I am a minister, but I do know that some people just use profanity. But in that situation he was way over the top using the "F" word. If our kids use it they get penalized and disiplined, well he may be an adult but if he is going to be in the students arena then he should have to abide by the same rules while he is in their activities.

Others may disagree, but how you talk in your own stands is different than how you talk on the sidelines, especially the opponents sideline. Call me a prude if you like, I did tell you that I am a minister, but I would hope that just maybe the gentleman could tone it down. Be excited, FOR SURE! Just leave the language off of the sidelines, please.

I will pull for Evadale every week but this one.  I'm sticking to what I've been saying that the Rebs are down from past seasons and it will show this week.

Pirates  35
Rebels  12
Gorilla you are a fine Rebel supporter every week but this one, thanks for that I hope hope this is a great game that prepares both our teams for successful seasons. I will of course stick with my prediction, cause thats what its all about!
11. Being from Evadale, I have enjoyed our batttles with the Cardinals over the years, but it might be time for the administration in High Island to consider moving to 6 man like Chester. It is not fair to the kids playing to be out matched numbers wise even against 1A schools.

Injuries happen and with the numbers that are being thrown around of 14 or 15 players for the Cardinals it will take some very healthy young men to play out the full season. This is a realignment year and if it were to happen this year (move to 6 man) then all the other teams that would be effected by what High Island does could make the changes they need to do to schedule a full 10 game schedule.

I am not bashing High Island in the least, just the opposite, kids deserve a chance to the competitive in their sports and sending too few out to fulfill a season on the 11 man field just seems like it is asking them to go into a contest with very little hope of success.

Now is the time to look at next season as numbers for realignment will counted in just a couple of months and new districts will be announced in February. I wish the Cardinals nothing but success this year, except agaisnt the Rebels, but it might be time to consider the future and a course redirection.

13. I think we need to give the Rebels at least a little time to get things worked out. Remember that we had an aweful lot of players that were starters for three years, but we did not go undefeated their first year starting either. I am certain that this group will gel and we will see success on the field by the Rebels once again this year.

We are very used to high expectations in Evadale and I know this years team will do all that they can to carry the tradition on into the future. We have had one scrimmage don't you believe that it is a little early to be writing their obit.

Last years basketball team had a 500 record heading into district and things worked out fine for them. Lets give the 2011 Rebels some support they will have plenty of teams that will be gunning for them starting in a couple of weeks.
14. I hope I can shake this young man's hand some day. That is a prayer that we could and should pray about life on a daily basis! I would add that God would protect all our our children as we have lost far too many due to tragic and sometimes avoidable reasons.

God bless all of SETX and especially those young men playing football...to all have a great year!
15. The Evadale Rebels will take the field at 12:01 AM in the morning in full pads. The Rebels will open the door for the real start of high school football in Evadale and in Texas.

When head coach Mark Williams began this seven years ago I don't think anyone could have imagined just how big a deal it has begun. The cheerleaders, former players, parents, grandparents and just people that make up the Rebel Nation will decend upon The Battlefield just to watch a couple of hours of practice.

I have had two sons play for the Rebels and I have lots of kids from our church involved in the program. I am thankful for a coach like Mark Williams and all of his staff for the job they do and the opportunity to be involved with the Rebels. I know that their are plenty of others who share my admiration and excitement about all the aspects of the Rebel athletic progam.

As one of my good friends says, "Wac Em Rebels!"...See you at midnight.
