Crosby doesn't have much more than the twins and SC has the speed to contain them (BH Didn't). I can see SC blowing them out, but I hope Crosby takes it to em ;)
Crosby does have more than just the twins... Its just that is all they needed to beat BH...
Remember, Crosby had 481 yards in a losing effort against Dayton(328 in the first half), They just turned the ball over 3 times in the first half, 2 of those in the red zone.  If they dont turn it over, it would have been a close game... That is why everyone from Dayton on this site has said Crosby does have talent.. I expect a close game with SC.. if Crosby can hold on to the ball.

Obviously Broncoman attended a different game than everyone else last night. Dayton's coaches were an absolute embarrasment the entire game. Acting like idiots on the sideline, screaming at the officials on every down, running out on the field during play. They should have been flagged at least 2-3 times for sideline violations. Crosby's coaches did a great job with their kids and acted very professionally. Maybe it's just that the coaches are reflections of their AD's.  ;)  And the kid from Crosby got a 9.5 on the backflip, he would have got a perfect ten, but he landed on a dayton coach on the 45 yd line.
right..LOL.. on the 45 yd line IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD...... because that is where the coaches were after every play...

Everyone in the stadium saw it.. No penalty.
    28-16 final
the refs did not see it because all 4 were in a group, talking to the Dayton coaches about the previous play (which really was the Dayton coaches yelling at the refs) this took about 4 min....
the backflip was not during or after the play, but during a ref timeout.

Those freshman are beast. Thx for scores. Guess that crosby new system not doing so well.
Crosby JV 14
    Dayton JV 0
    6 min left in 1st.
guess that crosby new system is working after all
im going to let you in on a little secrect. Dayton has a ton of sophmores on varsity that start and are big time playmakers. Never look at daytons jv as any kind of measuring stick. Imagine if the twins would have played jv last year. Crosby probably would have beat our jv. Alot of those kids on that freshman team will never play jv ball.
so if you loose tom night is that going to be your excuse... yall have tons of SO on varsity... You dont think Crosby has some up to??? give me a break... you play what you have... no excuses..... 28-8 crosby at half

Crosby by 9.  Broncos would be really foolish to give the same-old Crosby beat down predictions. This has the makings of another good game. It took a 100 yd kickoff return to beat Crosby last year and then Crosby rolled down the field and nearly sent it to overtime -great play by Dayton cornerback to seal the win. Crosby had more yards last year and could've easily won the game.

Offense: Big edge to Crosby. The Coogs are averaging 200 more yards a game on offense and have played better opponents thus far.  The Coogs are averaging 35 points/contest. Dayton comes in at 31/game. Riordan is just getting this offense clicking. Last time he called plays against Dayton, it wasn't pretty for the Broncos - and they had one heck of a defense in 2008. Crosby hung 63 on Willis who has actually won a game this year and put more than enough points on the Hill.

    Defense:
Slight edge to Dayton for now. Dayton has better numbers but has played three teams who have a combined record of 0-7. They were bend and not break against Elkins who is average 5A at best this season. The Broncos kept Livingston in check, who was w/o it's starting qb. Crosby had problems with Nederland's power game that opened up 1 on 1 matchups in the secondary. However, Crosby shut down Nederland in the 2nd half - forcing them to punt 4 times and completely neutralized BH after a shaky first half.

Special Teams Edge to Dayton. Carranco is Dayton's best weapon.
Where to begin...

    1.  Dayton's opponents...Livingston has lost two (to Dayton and to Kingwood Park, both of whom will beat Crosby in district); Elkins has lost two as well (to Dayton and a very decent Hou-Lamar team...both of whom would beat Crosby) and New Caney(I have no argument that they have much going on, but they do have one win...which is MUCH more quality than BH win over Mexico)
    2.  We've had more injuries thus far this year than we had all of last year. So by the time we hit you guys in the mouth next week, we'll be full force. It will be a team that no one's even seen yet.
    3.  Crosby's opponents...Willis has lost two (one to you and one to Navasota, who is decent IN 3A, and their one win you're hanging your hat on is to Caney Creek, the same team your dogging New Caney for beating; Nederland is good and they handled you guys (we handled them in a scrimmage, and thats all we have to go by...whether they were "full strength" or not); BH is horrible this year their two wins come from a horrendous Nuevo Laredo team and Lumberton who is probably the worst team in SETX, if not the state.

All that being said, you DO NOT have more strength-of-schedule than Dayton.  Im so gald I have more than "cougtalk" to spar with over there...I always love how you guys beat crapy teams and then think you're world-beaters, only to lose to Dayton and end up fighting for thr 3rd or 4th playoff spot and lose in the first round to 20-4a...those are facts

But good luck with all that twin stuff you guys have...the only brother's that will be scoring next week will be the McBride's...first on the field, then on Crosby's women
Can't argue with this! ;D ;D ;D
I can........."one to Navasota, who is decent IN 3A, " are you kidding???? Navasota is ranked 7th in max preps in the state, who beat Coldsprings, and Coldsprings beat La Marque...... I would say Navasota is better than "decent"...
And One big factor.... Coach Riodan.... put up how many points on Dayton in the State game??? (69)He is running the same OFF as then.... I believe he knows how to attack Dayton...
IMO this will be a close game... no blow outs unless one team shoots themselves in the foot with turnovers.... cant wait till friday..

and this year.. well you know the score last week......so... I don't think you can hang your hat on "Records don't lie ;) :o"

I think this game will be closer than everyone thinks... Both teams like to hang on to the ball and control the clock.
Ned is good, but I dont think they are what everyone thinks, they were not contested last week.  they played a Crosby team that was not ready: new coachs, new style, new line. The Off were not ready for the stunts that the Ned D line gave them and the qb seemed flustered.  When they get some experience Crosby will come around.
I dont think Ned Off is that good.  Crosby's D did not play bad, Ned really had one really good drive. the rest of the points was when the Off had really good starting positions,  (27, 42). that is why Ned went up so quick.  Ned did not score the second half when their starting field pos was on their side of the field. I dont see Nederland putting up alot of points... if GCM can keep starting points on their side of the field...IMO
    GCM - 21
    Ned  -14
Well, they were on Crosby's 7 at the end of the game , and chose not to punch it in.  Also went for a couple of 4th downs to burn clock rather than punt it away.  They went pretty conservative after in the second half after being up 21-0 at half time.
really?? they only went for 1- 4th down and were stopped, the rest were quick punts.  to say they were not trying to score the whole second half is crazy.  they were only up 14 in the third, and any team with athletes can score quick. and I am sure your coaches knew that. Yes ran the ball more the 2nd half, to hold on to the ball and run the clock, but still threw. (8 plays in the 3rd, 3 of 8 were passes.) but that is Nederlands game. they might of put up another at the end of the game, but no need to. by the way the game ended on the 12 not the 7.  I just don't think Nederland can score at will. I think they need good starting positions.  I dont think they will put up a bunch of points.... JMO... Everyone on this site talks about the D. not the O. and for good reason.. D will win them games..

I think this game comes to field position.  GCM has a great back, and have been in the same O for a while.  they control the ball. just like nederland.... I dont see this game being a blow out like everyone predicts...  I see this game being very close
It was not 14-0 in the 3rd of the Crosby game...Nederland scored on each of their first 3 possessions and it was 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter...this game was ever in doubt and never close
read before posting... I said they were down by 14, not the score was 14-0... but they can score quick, on scoring drive had passes of 14, 19 and 20 yd td pass... in less than 3 min.

Someone earlier said they only threw 1 pass in the 2nd half. It could've been worse for Crosby
not correct, attempted 3 in 3rd alone. one was a fumble and another was a sack

So much for that infamous crosby speed.  ::)
they could have ran the ball on them all night but I am sure the coach wanted to work on all plays. Its a scrim.... like a controled practice... you just dont work on one part of the game... Also they had a quick whisle for the QB's on both sides so Aston (the twin QB) could not run...
  12.
From everything I've read about Ned and dayton sound like they match up pretty close.  If that is the case than Ned will not have a problem with Crosby this early in the season.  Let's not forget that Crosby lost most if not all of last year O-line.  Don't care how quick you are if you are running for your life because your O-line is young than you will not be very effective.  After saying that  Ned 31  Crosby 13.  This is subject to change after we scrimmage Ned.  Can't wait to match up our 260+ avg O-line against Ned's 270+ D-line.  Can anyone say SMASH MOUTH FOOTBALL.  ;) :D ;D
Crosby Jr. Group tied Dayton when they were freshman.  very talented group. And if i remember right Crosby JV vs Dayton last year was very close even with 6 or 7 soph starting on Varsity. I cant remember the score.  I think Dayton and Crosby are very evenly matched.  As for Nederland I think it will be close because it is early in the season but Crosby wins this one.

Been trying to find the answer..but no answer..What does the AT LARGE pick in the all district picks mean???????
At large is given to 2 to 3 players. Its like a overall player that did not make 1st team at their position
So who selects the "at large" players? Is it voted on by the coaches?
Yes. each team puts up their kid stats and all the coaches vote just like any other position or super.
