question: runner on first. 2 strikes on the batter.......a swinging strike three and the kid comes out of the box and crosses home plate. while the runner on first is stealing second. contact is made.
what is the ruleing. Is the runner at 1st out or just has to return to 1st? -

Crosby is in, what, 19-4A? Not a powerhouse 4A district, some would say. How does the level of competition in that 4A district, compare to what he's going to see in 21-5A? NS, PAM, LP, DP.....these aren't scrub 5A teams! I am optimistic, and hopeful, that this guy can keep WB at the top of the heap without missing a beat. Good luck to him. I hope he does a fantastic job, at WB. This could certainly be the most talent rich school he has coached at. Let's hope he uses it wisely!
19-4A has split almost every year with 20-4A in playoffs. The talent level is the same. As for your worry's let me put it at ease. He is a great X and O man. He knows how to attack every D. on the ground and in the air. He has done well in Crosby with the spread even with QB's and WR that are not what you call "outstanding". Merka was a good QB but not what you call a pocket passer. Flanigan knows how to adjust his offense to the type of players he has. A great coach and person. Count your blessings. WB just got better IMO.. -

AggiesAreWe, really you broadcast high school football and you spout like some jackleg off the street. crosby held vidor 0 completions which had been big plays for them last four opponents. only two plays over 10 or 15 yards. both of which were huge in thier montgomery win. and one of their lowest offensive yardage nights in last 8 games. c'mon man get a clue. special teams and turnovers were devastating in that game.
"Crosby held Vidor to 0 completions". That's pretty funny statement considering Vidor only attempted 2 passes the whole game!!!
Vidor pounded Crosby for over 300 yards rushing.
Like I said, Crosby was the more talented team, but Vidor was better coached and the better team. 42-20 pretty much speaks for itself.
"Pounded"??? Vidor only had 302 total yards of Offense. Crosby had 412. The game came down to turnovers (2), Penalties (11 for 100 yards) and the type of D. Crosby's D did not match up very well vs Vidor's O (Wing T vs 3-3 stack). the match up would say your going to get 3-4 yards a carry, and in playoffs it all about match ups.
Vidor did a great job... Grinding the ball down the field, keeping the Coog D on the field, controling the ball, and making the O make desperate decisions.. My hats are still off to Vidor but saying they were more talented at almost ANY position is crazy. -

Has this job open yet? If not then how can Coach Slack be the front runner?
The Bobcats are down right now, but they always seem to pull one out of the hat in the long run.
Yes, Coach Haynes has resigned so the job is open.
Not necessarily..........If they promote from within, they will not open up the job.
the job has to be "open" or "posted" to everyone for 10 days... Its the law...
they may have someone already in mind but even if someone transfers within the district, they still have to post the job.. -

Sure hope if Crosby hires this coach he brings some defensive guys with him. Offense wasn't a problem with Flannigan, it was on the other side of the ball.
watch what you wish for... sulfer springs gave up a average of 25.5 points a game last year and 26.75 in 2010, 23.28 in 09 and 30.56 in 08 when they won state...
dont look for too much D...
rumor has it he is bringing his own OC and DC. -

Im confused why the JV GCM and BH only ever play once? They did the same thing last year, seems like that would be one series you would ensure gets played twice yearly.
Never even noticed that. Interesting. I'll ask around.
I believe that is TAKS week. non varsity games are cancelled and varsity has to play early on a Monday
That's what my first thought was, but it is strange that BH/GCM seem to play that week the last two years. Luck of the draw I guess.
Once realignment is done the baseball DISTRICT schedule does not change for 2 years with one exception. Instead of playing the team home first in the first round of district, you play away first. next year will change though with redistricting. -

We've had a fungo, but from what I understand, we don't use it very much. At least that's what Drake Roberts has told me.
well all programs would also like to have 7 coaches like Brenham does....
most have 2-4....

Crosby lost almost all. JV was good but no experence. Like that .500 attitude LOL. He may throw at ya twice. Ready to get started. Love the game.
Crosby returns 4 - SS, 3rd, 2nd, and DH. Also some of the JV kids got some Varstiy playing time last year. So they will be good.
Not one Pitcher is listed. After Gabby, Crosby did not have much last year, what do you have coming up?
Crosby has some pitching just they did not get many chances with Gabby on the mound. You wanted to pitch that man every game it you could. The Jones(SS) can pitch.
they had a good kid on JV last year... Davenport.... He pitched in fall ball and looked lights out... about mid 80"s. He looked good from the left side of the mound. -

Coug4 you are right the kids have know idea what is going on. I just hope they hire quickly & the right Coach. The workout program they have right now is crap because none of the coaches care. My son told me last night there is about 30 kids working out after school with no direction from coaches. They usually have a workout agenda everyday but this week it has read DO YOUR OWN WORKOUT. So what this shows me is the coaches never really cared anyways and I understand the school board craps on you so you crap on the kids. I also understand it is early in the off season but I know the last 3 years they started the week after they lost in the playoffs with there off season workout program but not this year.
That is bashing...
and only one coach does tutorials??? I will bet you anything that most of the coaches teach a core subject.. In fact 7 of them do... core classes HAVE to have tutorials....the school makes them... and if you don't teach a core subject you have to monitor the halls... So they were all doing A JOB.. -

Red, who is your son? I went by to pick up my daughter yesterday after school and most of the coaches were in the weightroom or on the track with the kids. Looked like business as usual to me. Did little Johnny not get to play much this year?
Actually Red Rocker my son (little johnny) did play. I do know this though that in the weight room the coaches where gone by 3:40 because my other son who played on Varsity for 3 years & started his last 2 who was picking up my younger son who started on the freshmen "A" team & JV team this year. Red rocker I'm just pointing out what I am being told by my sons. Just to let you know I was one of the parents that was at the schoolboard meeting to support Flanigan. I have know Flanigan for 8 years & he will be missed. I am just pointing out that I think the coaches are in limbo & the kids are the ones going to suffer, when they have a obligation to fill for the remainder of the year. I don't really appreciate your comment about my son because I will be the first to wear him out if he isn't producing or playing to his potential. So get off my kid
I talked to some other kids too. Tues and Thurs are monitory tutorial days from (2:32-3:30). All Athletes are supposed to go to tutorials. Coaches teach classes are required to have tutorials classes. So I guess you are right, the work out was more than likely on the board and they were not there because they had a JOB to do.
You might want to do a little research before you start publicly bashing coaches…
-
Crosby got one this year and it is worth every penny. It has lights so hitters can load corectly in the cage. also it can be set to throw not just fast... or just curve.. but alternate... that way the hitter is not just concentrating on just fast.. he has to read spin and adjust..
It is also a great help with fielding at all places.. the coach can be with the kid talking while fungo is taking place.. instead of just hitting..
you can program a entire game in if you want.. say the scout report says the 1 middle.. 2 opp field or bunts, 3 pulls 4 hit pops in right field... ext
lots of things can be done esp with 3 team and only 3 coaches -
I thought that there was a mandatory 4 quarter suspension for throwing a punch. They have video of it and that would punish the ones that couldn't keep their emotions under control but not the ones that could.
nothing in UIL rules about suspension for a game.. what you are referring to could be a district rule... Some districts have that rule in effect like
20-4A I believe. -
I agree-Murr and Harrison are both great hires. Brian Johnson left because Haynes was hired and brought his son as the QB, he and Phllip beck set records. Bryan wasn't going to play QB so he left.
Olin has the most impressive resume but, that doesn't mean his the best hire for Barrett Station(crosby). Crosby needs to act fast though, spring ball is right around the corner.
I would like to see Harrison get it.
I would also like to see Freemon get it.
Heck I would like to see a african-american coach in Crosby for a change. That is probably what Barrett Station wants.
WOW!!!! did you really say that???... I would like to say Harrison would get it based on his actions and resume... not because he his black...
What is all this hype about Freemon.. Yes he played there and holds some records but has he ever been a OC or DC before??? -
I believe two of the best coaches for Crosby are already on staff.
Marty Murr - Former AD of Aledo - LB coach now at Crosby
T.K. Harrison - Former DC at Port Author Memorial - JH AD at now at Crosby.
I think both of these coaches can take over the program without messing up the winning chemistry already intact and could do nothing but improve the program.
2012 Homeruns......
