I appreciate your honesty and the vote for my son.
Not saying you are saying this, but I am. I dont give a dern if they are a 19 year old senior or a 14 year old freshman, the best players in the district should go on the 1st and 2nd Team list and they should be placed on those lists according to their production, not how long they have been in the program or how it isnt fair that their 2-10 team didnt have anyone represented in the selections. This is Varsity Basketball, the best kids are named to the best spots and the awards should reflect that.
I have said it before, but these are kids and we have a moral obligation to get it right. Last years voting was an absolute joke and lost a lot of credibility for what happened in that room.

I went back and looked and I had Scales as my NCOTY.
As for the other all district picks, I recognized some names on there. Mostly seniors were picked last year for both 1st and 2nd teams.

I thought Sells played better defense and handled the ball better than Donald. So no.
I would have to go back and see what all the superlatives were for last year but just off the top of my head, Perrault should have been MVP.

First of all, in regards to the #1 seed game. I know that Orangefield wanted to flip and not play but Kountze said no. They wanted to play the game. So Orangefield had to agree to play or concede the #1 seed.
As for the superlatives go, I actually thought that Whitmire and Joubert should have been Co-COY. They both did tremendous jobs with their respective teams. I usually don't like Co's but in this case I think it's deserving and would have been the right thing to do.
I think the coaches got the MVP right. IMO, Sells is the best player and performed that way all season. I think Scales getting Offensive MVP is right on the money and Wrinkle getting Defensive was the correct call too. IMO, Wrinkle was more valuable to his team but isn't the scorer that Scales is. This is based on some of the games I have watched live and on video. When I talk to folks at the games it's always brought up how Wrinkle is Orangefield's "glue guy" (does it all) but just doesn't have the offensive game that Scales has.
All in all, I think the coaches have it right.
Just my opinion. No shade thrown anywhere.

@AggiesAreWe I know you watched these guys play multiple games and I’m curious your opinion on the matter… as previously stated I to agree Wrinkle may have more of a claim over ghost as far as district MVP.

I had the opportunity to attend this game last year, and i believe orangefield had the lead going into the 4th quarter.
I think this will be a really good ball game!

Absolutely right. There is 0 doubt your son is great. 0 doubt you are a passionate parent. But there seems to be some sense of entitlement other than being a parent or a fan. NO school wants to deal with people like that the refs know. The community knows...... Everyone does..... Your reputation procedes you. Just an observation, right wrong or indifferent.

The laughing was referenced to an officially even speaking to a fan at all, that’s very unprofessional - It brought up a memory of a time my grandmother, aunt and my mother all were at my game and the official told Coach Ramsey to settle them down, he turned around and asked “Did yall pay your $2 to get in?” And the ref gave him a T.
You take things very personal, I barely watched the game because my wifi cord was ran over by my roomba, I didn’t even know what fan he was speaking  by about.

I was the Orangefield Fan mentioned, and I think its's obvious that I will stand up for kids anytime there is a need and always have. He wanted to feel like he was in control while he did his best to cheat the kids and coaches and literally came over to where I was while me and my son were talking.  What he was doing was blatant and obvious. I am always courtside with a camera, so Im pretty sure he backed off knowing everything he said or did could be proven. Furthermore, had a scout sitting next to me that knew the official very well. He knew everything he was doing had valid witnesses to it.
I can't stand cowardly, lying, cheating people, who spread ill will and discontent. Add to that, they are willing to go at kids who deserve better, and I'll 100% of the time stand between those kids and the fire.

A Sheldon ISD friend of mine was there and she told me that one ref really had it in for OF and the OF coach. She said the other two were OK. She is knowledgeable and for her to comment like that it must have been really BAD! Nice job by OF overcoming that ref. There is no room for BS like that in the playoffs especially.

That was one of the weakest techs I’ve ever seen. Whitmire was close to the other side of the bench not even talking directly to the official. That official was looking to T him up at that point

I know where you are coming from and it’s correct. But the Kountze “physicality” and the Diboll “physicality” weren’t the same. Kountze were being hit with alot of touch fouls, which is part of it, some refs call tight especially with the hands. However, if you have seen Diboll and their style of play this year, they are big and athletic and play that bully ball on offense. The lower your shoulder, put your head down and run the ball down your throat type offense last night. In my opinion, and judging by the foul count, one team got to play their game yesterday and one team was restricted to the amount of pressure they could apply.

I promise I mean this with all due respect, but this is the kind of play I was referencing. Its not a hard reach to believe that teams that press and play physically throughout would find themselves in foul trouble. I realize you guys feel the foul calling in this game was a little excessive, but it does illustrate the discrepancy in officiating when the rules are the same for all of the games. Oddly enough, it came to light during the next game.
If your pressure equates to turnovers, turnovers to points, then you should be able to be up by so much late in the game that the gamble on fouls that you took early, would still pay off by controlling the pace/clock. If a team is able to handle the pressure and keep it close, then the foul count/free throw count should benefit that team because they would have less fouls due to their style of play.
With that being said, I understand the game plan and just like @BBfan061 said, every team has to adjust to the way the refs are calling the game. Consistency has to be on the rules of the game on both ends, not on the foul count itself because that doesnt take into account the styles of play from each team.
With all of that being said, CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU GUYS ON ANOTHER BIG WIN! We will be pulling for yall until we hopefully see you again!

Not sure where that comes from, ma’am.  I’ve always thought Whitmire is pretty composed on the sidelines, and the majority of the games I’ve seen him coach were AGAINST Orangefield.

The goal of almost every team Ever,  is to limit the touches of the opponents best shooter.  Defense stepped up after going down 0-10.   All teams grab shirts , shorts what ever they can.  They frustrate the player with the ball.  Everyone thinks Scales is a phenomenal athlete.  But frustrating him is the goal.  Just like teams try to limit Sells.   Refs call how they call,  Joubert preaches to his players , play the game and let him worry about the Ref.  An 18-2 run is Not the refs.   When you have been guarded the entire game , denied the ball and having to run around the gym all night ,  you also get tired.  Makes you miss shots later.  Legs are dead in the 4th.   Good luck in the playoffs and get ready for more of the same defense .  Hitchcock was there watching both teams.   Whitmire has done a good job and will be ready.

Each team going forward will face physical teams before one of them reaches the state tournament. In the playoffs the game is different. Wish both teams success in the playoff and would love to see them meet up one more time this year!

I believe he is referring to the 18-2 run after OF started out 10-0 (made the score 18-12 Kountze) Actually it was a 21-2 run for Kountze (led 21-12).
The 35-12 run is how the first half ended. After OF started the game 10-0, Kountze then finished the first half out scoring OF 35-12 for a 35-22 halftime score.
Basically the 18-2 run is within the overall 35-12 run.
    Hope that clarifies that issue.
