I know the thread was about Smith, but I was thinking of both young men (and hundreds of others who we are reading about daily… “former four star WR enters the portal after one season at …..” or “so-and-so decommits from …. by tweeting that he is re-opening his recruiting”) when I wrote it.

It’s hard to compare BC to Jasper, since most of our kids go on to college anyways… my understanding is that Smith is the only 2025 Jasper graduate that will be attending college, period.  But you have guys like Wooster,  Matt Bryant, and Shane Dronett who have had remarkable careers after leaving Bridge City… and a State Championship. Y’all just salty cause you got all that NFL talent and can’t win when it matters.

the ONLY time BC matters is when them Jasper boys take them to the dark side of the woodshed. I know it's frustrating for you to have one of SETX regular bottom dweller teams.  let's hope the new guy in town can maybe make playoffs in the future.

yes TyAnthony the only student going to college out of this graduating class. my son is a JR at UH. he was the only one in his class to attend college.

Here's the crazy part... I can think of two guys from SETX that are currently on NFL rosters.  Grayland Arnold (Kountze) committed to Baylor, then stuck with his commitment when Briles got the boot.... Then you have Roschon Johnson (PNG) who went to UT as a qb, then accepted a move to RB and is now in the NFL.

I don't expect many kids who can't keep their commitments to a school show any commitment to their career, either.  The transfer portal and NIL are ruining college football, and by definition the NFL careers of many very talented athletes who will never develop their craft because they're too busy trying to land someplace else.

    But that's just me.

    Carry on.

Good luck with the Longhorns next year.  We'll all be curious as to where you end up for 26.

Tigger, the same goes for your boy Drelon Miller. Going Prime Time.

    Any Cardinals sign anywhere?

    Anybody see that interview?

    thoughts?

Where might I found this interview? I really like him and his thoughts/pov about the world.

The wife and I went to see him in Houston in '22 and had a blast!

I like the 4 days of football. I would be good with 3 days of football.

That way you can watch all the games.

Would like to see it at least alternate between Houston and Dallas. Not sure the Alamodome could handle it.

Louisiana used to play em all in one day. I loved it! At the Superdome games start bout 8 or 9 I think it was and played  til whatever time it took that night.

Yes. No matter how, thats what happens when you beat Surratt and continue to a championship. You're guy will get there. You know this my friend.

6A Kenny Harrison, Humble Summer Creek

    5A Jeff Joseph, Port Neches-Groves

    4A Alan Metzel, Gilmer

    3A Jamie Driskell, Malakoff

    2A Denney Faith, Albany

    1A Mike Reed, Gordon

PVT Jason Witten, Argyle Liberty Christian

would I be lying if I said my opinion had nothing to do with past history with the horse chestnut trees.. of course.

    buy local 409.

Gilmer coach has to be 4A COY

I think they beat the 4 best 4A DII teams to win the championship.

lol the same coach who put his team in jeopardy of not going to semis with the way the last 3-4 minutes of regulation was handled vs Carthage. Literally.

got bailed out by a great play to cause fumble by Carthage qb.. in overtime.

I agree with the first part… I either watched or was at every Bellville game this year…I honestly didn’t think we had a legitimate shot until probably the start of the second quarter vs Silsbee in the third round…. Mainly because of how last year went… Losing to Madisonville in the second round left a bad taste in the mouth of this Bellville team I believe… With the exception of Wimberley they have dominated every team they have played this season. Win or lose Friday it’s been a great season. After this season what’s in store? Well we only lose 4 starters on offense and 4-5 on defense I believe with some younger guys waiting for their shot from a good freshman and JV team. I’ll say this 4A D2 only gets tougher next year with the addition of Lorena,Brock, China Spring, and others

being able to beat Jasper you knew then it was all good!

I mean come on Silsbee didn't score til the freshmen of yalls came in the last minute.

you get it don't ya,? 😉😄 lol. yep we at least scored on the 1st string defense.

Why then, did PnG get obliterated in the 3rd round in 2021 (we could barely make a tackle), bring back most of the same key players, and go straight to state the next year? And then, with a new crop of guys, we go straight back? Conventional wisdom said the Mid County schools had no hope to recreate the success of the 70s. Look at us now.

The main variable that changed was the coaching. PNG went from a team that couldn’t even sort of hang with the best, to a team that could beat the best. Coaching is the most important factor, most of the time.

I refuse to believe that West Orange suddenly doesn’t have good players. What - was there a chemical leak in the hospital nursery exactly sixteen years ago? Did the gene pool change? What about Hampshire Fannet? They went from bottom-dwelling nobodies to a disciplined, smart, tough, athletic unit - They just happen to have good players now?

Bout Carthage? until the Lord of the Rings came along they had 1 appearance in state title game in the early 90s. He takes over and suddenly a record breaking juggernaut is created with the same bloodlines and talent that has always been there.
