College station will make the long trip to Angleton to take on the Wildcats after finishing the regular season a week early on Halloween at home against Weiss, a game which I watched. They would not have won that game without forcing 4 turnovers by Weiss in the second half, all of which they turned into points. They are not a very big team but have a 275-pound kicker. Rushing seems to be their forte although they do pass some and they run a lot of QB keepers. They used 2 QBs in the game. Angleton will have to protect the ball to have success. They seemed to have trouble stopping the pass, but Weiss had a number of dropped passes in the second half. Angleton, after losing their QB will probably mostly run too. I assume we will see a lot of wildcat plays and hopefully may get some special teams scores. It will be interesting to see what jV players will be called up. Congratulations to the Angleton JV and freshmen teams for finising as 10-0 district champions.

It will be very tough for Crosby with the game being played in Bryan where all the Aggie fans will be cheering for the home team.. Now if the game was in Crosby where they have such a home field advantage they would. Maybe they can make it close unlike last year so they can feel good about themselves for next year.

The stats from this game tell a story. Angleton held Crosby to 46 yds rushing. Angleton only passed 6 times (113 yds) but had almost as many yds as Crosby did on 25 attempts (127 yds). Before the 2nd half last week against La Porte, Kasen Jammer in 2 years, a CB, had never played on offense. He carried 7 times against La Porte for 91 yds (13.0 yds/carry) from the wildcat. He also returned the opening kickoff for a TD although he has been on the return team all year. Against Crosby, he also carried 7 times for 113 yds (16 yds/carry) from the wildcat. He also completed 2 o2 passes for 13 yds. I think 1 of those passes to his WR older brother Kaleb. Maybe they should put him on offense all the time even though he has been very good at CB, was named defensive newcomer of the year for defense for the district last year.

Im proud of the Cats for overcoming all the injuries (I didn't know until game time that Angleton's best RB, Wyatt Neyland had an injury and would't play). It's an ankle injury and hopefully he will be back next week. Glad to see Boss Mack back. This was Angleton's lowest point total all year. Good luck to Crosby and the other Dist 11 teams in the playoffs.

It was a Crosby OL, who I don't think it would be proper to name on here. I went back and watched again and he and an Angleton DL (not Mack with his heavily wrapped leg!) seemed to be having a feud on two plays and after the 2nd time Angleton voluntarily pulled out their player, I suppose so he could cool off or to talk to him. I assume that if Crosby had done the same theirs would not have been ejected either. I looked up the rule on if It could be carried over to a following game and yes it could. However, the officials have to file a report for it to take effect and I assume since you don't hear about this being enforced much that in most cases they don't unless it's something like a player threatening an official or something like that. It would be nice to hear from somebody who is an official on this matter.

I didn't quite realize until I saw the bracket, how important it was to win second place last night. I knew of course that the second place team would host CS at home while the 3rd place team would have to go to Bryan and play A&MC. But looking at the bracket , the 2nd place team in Dist 11 if they win would face the winner of Houston Madison and Beaumont United while if Crosby should beat A&MC their next opponent would be PA Memorial, the highest rated team in the region.

I don't know, but in high school ball, unlike the pros, I don't think It affects the next week. Correct me if I'm wrong.

My guess is that we will see a lot of pooch kicks on kickoffs tonight on both sides with all the dangerous kick returners. Piotr Wlostowski, an exchange student from I think Poland, Angleton's kicker, is capable of kicking it out of the endzone, but he doesn't do it on every kick. Pooch kicks was one strategy I noticed PNG using when they played La Porte.

JV report Angleton JV 35, La Porte 7 Angleton didn't throw their 1st pass until there was just a few minutes left in the game. La Porte passer was pretty good but threw 2 ints.
-
LOL. Let's just play the game and then we'll know.

I don't think Angleton will stop throwing to him, even with Duron out. They may not pass as much. Angleton uses a lot of end arounds and Jammer has carried 11 times for 94 yds. I suspect they may use more this game. Jammer is 1 for 1 passing for 12 yds. Jammer is also a threat on kickoff return, both he and Ace Simple. Angleton's OC is excellent at coming up with concepts. He has been with the team since 2011 except for three years. He left in 2015 irc to take a head coaching job at Boling where his team went deep into the playoff both years with playing in the state championship game the second year. He must have decided after that. that head coaching wasn't for him and for one year took an OC position at George Ranch. The next year when Brittain became head coach and Berneathy left for Dobie that there's "No place like Angleton" and reclaimed his old OC job.

Duron was hurt in Angleton's 1st drive of the second half when it was 35-0. Jackson was hurt early in the 2nd quarter when it was 21-0. Duron was also the team's punter. Late in the second half Angleton sent in WR Cade Estrada to punt and although pressured got off a good punt.

This game could be for the district championship although Crosby could still be involved in a 3-way tie. Both teams are in the top 10 in the DCTF poll. Angleton is reeling from a couple of key injuries last week playing Kempner. Their QB Bryce Duron went down, he who has passed for 1367 yds. on 66 of 89 throws (74%) and also has carried 25 times for264 yds. So he can't really be replaced. In his place will be the 3rd string QB Damien Simpson since the 2nd guy went down several weeks ago and is out for the season. Simpson has completed 5 of 7 passes in relief and has run 5 times for 58 yds. So it's unsure how this changes the offense. Simpson is only about 5'8". Making matters worse, WR Wesley Jackson was also lost who has 429 yds in receptions. Taking his place will be the HC's older son, Jake Brittain who is 6"3" but only has 5 receptions for 58 yds. I thought this game would be streamed on LPsportsnet, but I don't see it mentioned there.

Port Arthur Memorial (30) @ Lufkin (0) - FINAL

Why did PAM slip from #6 to #17 in latest DCTF poll? PAM seems impressive to me. And I thought they only did a top25 for 6A. -

Friendswood at this point seems to be the favorite for 4 seed in District 11. The order of the top 3 teams in District 12 seems to be very much in doubt. They all seem to be close to equal. If Weiss beats Anderson the last game of the season, (and Weiss is at home) and other games go as expected it could end in a 3-way tie with the top 3 each having a record of 1-1 against the other 2. I assume points differential would be used for seeding.

Region 3 5A-D1 after realignment
purple reign replied to purple reign's topic in High School Football
I'm sure the schools in Regioin 3 would like that, but the UIL last time set a precedent by granting their petition. Why would they allow it in '24 but not in '26? -
Region 3 5A-D1 after realignment

Iowa Colony had 1781 last fall TEA numbers. D1 may not happen this time but it won't be long.
